Mike & Missy Plus Six-A 9/11/11 Dream Trip Report! Update-12/08-COMPLETE!!

I never eat there either, and I didn't even know about it because I didn't see it advertised on commercials or anything. I found out about it from a post on the budget board! But I'm glad I got all 6 of them. I had to go to a couple different stores though. The Simba one was the hardest to get. My sis told me that she seen the Simba one on ebay sell for $15!! That's just crazy.

That's so funny about all the guys huddled together waiting on the ladies! :rotfl:

Wow! $15 is crazy!!

Yes, us girls thought it was pretty funny too!!:lmao:

An excellent update! I have never ever been in either Earl of Sandwhich or the Ghiradelli store. I must check them out on our upcoming trip! Can't believe you left without any purchases! I'm always secretly proud of myself when I can resist spending any money :)

Dustin #2 and Brandon looked so unhappy on the bus ride! I hope they were alright :)

Yes, you MUST check out Ghirardelli--that is if you like chocolate!! EOS is delish as well!

You know, I thought the same thing about that picture after I posted it! They do both have funny looking faces! I think Brandon was actually listening to Brandi--that's the face he makes when he's intently listening to someone, and I think Dustin #2 may have been messing around with Dustin #1! I don't think they were miserable like they looked! They'd probably all kill me if they knew I was putting these pictures on here!!:rotfl:

I thought that pic of the boys on the bus was funny! It's looks like they're scared of something.
Like "Where are you taking us, woman? What's this land of the mouse you're taking us to??" :scared1: :lmao:

:rotfl::lmao:The picture is much funnier when you caption it with that!! I'm sure at some point they probably did think that!:rotfl2:

We usually stay in a studio as well, Jennifer, so this was really a treat for us! It's hard to spend those extra points on a 1BR when you have plenty of room in a studio, but with 8 people, we had to have the room this time! AKL is your home resort, right?
Yup our home resort is AKL Kidani Village :goodvibes

EoS is our favorite! So glad everyone enjoyed their sandwiches!

Can you believe I've never tried Ghiradelli's? Insane I know! Seeing that "Thrill Hill Chill" though makes me want to on our next visit! :thumbsup2

It is not all that surprising that you left WoD empty handed, I do it all the time! ;) Like you though it is because I know I will be shopping again later!

Well, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed staying at your resort!! It's absolutely beautiful. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did, but I'm in love!:rotfl:

You have to try Ghirardelli next time for me!:)

Enjoying your TR and pics! Love DTD! Can't wait to see how the cruise was!

Thank you!!

I also knew that there would be plenty of time to shop on the ship also and there's a lot of things that are exclusive to the ships as well, so I wanted to make sure I had plenty of $ in case I found something!:goodvibes

We made it back to the resort and hadn't been back to the room very long when Mike, Gayle, Brandi and I decided to head down to the lobby to see who might be hanging out on the savanna.

I found more evidence of Love Bugs as we passed by one of the windows:

We made our way down to the Lobby and exited out to the savannah to find that we were in for a treat! We were able to see several animals who were within pretty close range:

I turned around and took a shot of the Lodge from where we were. The architecture is so cool!
AKL128.jpg

As were were walking back through the Lobby, we looked out and saw the feed trucks coming through. It was really neat to watch the animals come walking in closer--they looked like they were ready to eat!

We made our way back to the room and everyone freshened up before it was time to head out to our much anticipated dinner at 'Ohana!! While planning the trip, Mike and I had a hard time deciding on where we wanted to take everyone to eat...The three choices were 'Ohana, Whispering Canyon Cafe, and Trails End. We talked it over with Brandi and Gayle and told them what each place offered and they said 'Ohana sounded the best, which made us happy since it's one of our favorite places! We just hoped they'd like it as much as we did. Once we'd decided where we wanted to go I was able to make a reservation for all of us for 6:45 that night.

Our plan was to take a bus over to the Magic Kingdom, and then take the monorail over to the Poly, that way everyone would have a chance to take a spin on the monorail. Since we knew we needed plenty of time to make it, we decided to head out an hour early. Once we made it to the bus stop we ended up waiting a few minutes as every bus came except the one for MK! Thankfully it didn't take too long for it to show up. And once we made it to the monorail station we were just in time to jump aboard. We arrived at the Poly at exactly 6:40! Can't get much closer than that!

I checked us in while everyone else checked out their surroundings!

Allen decided he was going to head to the bar to see what he could find to drink and I told him about the Lapu Lapu.

Our table was ready before he was finished at the bar, and he made his way to our table with this in hand:
AKL142.jpg

Gayle tried a sip of it, but decided it was way too strong for her, so she left it all for Allen!

Once the entertainment started, Dustin #1 went and got leis for everyone!!(This is one of my favorite pictures of him!)

Soon enough, the food started coming and everyone was impressed with the offerings. Gayle and I agreed the noodles were our favorite while Mike and Allen were quite fond of the wings!
AKL147.jpg

As you can see, he wasn't willing to share any of his either::rotfl:

We all really enjoyed the meal VERY much! And I Mike and were happy that everyone was so pleased!

I heard Dustin #1 calling my name from the end of the table--he wanted me to get a picture of this--silly boy::rolleyes1

Before we paid and headed out, we asked our Cousin to get a group picture of all of us. Normal shot:
AKL154.jpg

Shaka sign shot..As you can tell when she told us to do the Shaka, Allen wasn't quite sure of what she was talking about! He just did what everyone else was doing!

And one last departing shot before we headed back "home" for the night:

It had been a wonderful day, and we were all tired but were very much looking forward to tomorrow!!:yay:

Next up: It's time to board the Dream!

Your Ohana meal sounds absolutely awesome! And I am so with Allen on the Lapu Lapu...would have ordered one of those myself! (Yummers!)

Excellent update! Isn't it amazing to see those beautiful animals so close!!! Your family pictures at dinner are so lovely. We did Ohana for breakfast and it was wonderful too. Mother loves Stitch, so she was just tickled pink for him to be there. So glad you got there in time! Was there any show that Mike could watch from the beach?

The only thing that I dislike at Kidani is where the drink refill station is located, which is inside a very small store off the lobby. That could have been expanded a bit.

What a wonderful night! I love that you all had a fantastic dinner at O'hana! :grouphug:

It was awesome!! I didn't think Allen would really take my advice about the Lapu Lapu, but he did! Believe it or not, I've never actually tried one myself--I just recommended it based off all the reviews I've read here!!

It really was cool seeing the animals so close just grazing around. I took a lot more pictures than what I posted because they were so cool to watch! We've been to 'Ohana for breakfast before, and I have to say that it's one of my favorites. I love Lilo and Stitch! I'm glad your Mom enjoyed it!!

I noticed the drink station when we were in the gift shop. So I guess when the store closes you can't get drinks? That would be kind of inconvenient, especially if you're coming back to the resort late!

Great pics!

Thank you!!

The alarm went off at exactly 7:30 that morning and I had no trouble getting up. I have to say that the AKL bed was one of the most comfortable that I'd ever slept on! Mike and I both agreed that we wanted to strap the matress to the top of the car and take it home with us!!:lmao:

The plan for the morning was that we'd head over to Jambo House for a quick breakfast and then head back to Kidani to make sure the room was cleared out before we checked out and headed west to Port Canaveral. Since the port doesn't open until 11 now, we figured we'd have plenty of time if we left AKL by 9:45.

At about 8:30 we jumped in the cars and drove the short little ways over to Jambo House. Once we got inside and were going to where we though Mara was, we figured out we were wrong, so we had to ask for directions!:rolleyes1

We finally made it, and thankfully it wasn't crowded at all and there were plenty of open tables. Everyone jumped in line and quickly decided on what they wanted to start the day with. Mike and I both decided to go with the Bounty Platter--I actually had a hard time deciding between it and the bacon egg and cheese croissant:

Dustin isn't much of a breakfast eater, so he went with the Mickey waffle with bacon:
EmbarkationDay003.jpg

We ate pretty quickly and were out of there in no time!:thumbsup2

On the way out, I snapped a quick shot of the pool area:

Once we'd made it back to the Lobby, we made a quick stop in the gift shop to see if they had any AKL pins as Kidani only had one design that I really didn't care for. Of course Jambo only had the same thing.

Dustin decided to try on a couple hats while he waited for everyone to look around:

By this time, we were running a little late, so we hurried back to the car. I saw this bus waiting out front and decided to take a pic since I've never seen one like it before:

We made it back to Kidani very quickly and we all jumped out and ran back to the room to make sure that we had gotten all our belongings and that everything was in order. As we made our way down to the Lobby to check-out I took a few last minute shots of some more of the details:

Thankfully there wasn't a line at the desk, so we were outta there in no time and before we knew it we were on our way to the Mickey boat!!

Woo Hoo! You are on your way!

I have been a bit frustrated with the resort pins myself. They used to have several to choose from (and cute ones at that), but lately they have been a disappointment. Seems Disney is moving towards highlighting movies and TV shows over the actual resort itself. *sigh*

So looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Dream!

So exciting! Looking forward more :) The port doesn't open until 11? I messed up our flights then, we'll be extra early.

I LOVE all the AKL pics! And the close-ups of the animals!

That "water parks" bus is pretty neat!

LOVING IT! I love how you fashion your reports. I feel like I am along for the ride. Can't wait to hear more. popcorn::
