Mike & Missy Plus Six-A 9/11/11 Dream Trip Report! Update-12/08-COMPLETE!!

There's never too many pictures of Disney as far as I'm concerned! I love the Mickeys in the carpet! I don't think Jambo House has them, will have to look on our next trip :) What did the others think of the resort?

I'm glad we agree! I love seeing pictures of the different resorts, especially when it's somewhere I've never stayed. I've got some carpet Mickey's coming up for you!!

As far as the others, they said that they liked it, but they don't get as excited about stuff as Mike and I do--me especially. And they aren't really into Disney like we are, so we were not only excited about being in such a nice place, but the fact that it was Disney was icing on the cake. Or maybe it was the other way around! lol:goodvibes

Love AKL The details are great!

I'm glad you're enjoying them! I have to say that I don't think I've ever noticed as many details in a Disney resort before!

Does anyone know how I can resize my pictures in Photobucket...I'd like to make them just a tad bit smaller so that they don't take up some much room on my posts!:confused3

Pull up the individual picture then hover over the top of it. It should show a menu bar (and will also show at what percent the picture is being viewed as). One of the options on the menu bar is Resize. When I use a picture to post on a message board, I resize it to 640 x 480. This resizes it completely in Photobucket, so if you plan to have pictures printed from there, you will need to upload it again and use the new upload to print. Also, if you resize any of the pictures you previously posted in your trip report, you will need to get the new URL for them and update your trip report.

Now...back to the report! Love the pictures of AKV! I'm thinking our next stay at AKL will need to be switched over to the villas! Had no clue there is a parking garage now!

It's just such a warm happy feeling to be at Disney! :cloud9: Can't wait to hear what animals you saw from your room! And oh my goodness was that balcony gigantic!

Cindy, I just noticed one of your tickers is gone, did you have a nice trip? :)

Great room! I've never seen photos of the 1 bedroom. We usually just stay in a studio. The attention to detail is all over AKL. Breathtaking! :thumbsup2

I LOVE the room pics!!!

I do have a question, Is the parking garage for the entire resort (for Jambo and Kadani)?

I also love the Lion King. We went to see the 3D movie this past weekend. Are ya'll going to see it?

Thanks for the info!! Do you have to do them one by one, or is there a way to re-size them all at once?

The parking garage is definitely nice!!

We actually didn't get to see any animals from our room since we had a parking lot/bus stop view! But, we did walk down and take lots of pics, and I will definitely include those in my next update!:thumbsup2

We usually stay in a studio as well, Jennifer, so this was really a treat for us! It's hard to spend those extra points on a 1BR when you have plenty of room in a studio, but with 8 people, we had to have the room this time! AKL is your home resort, right?

I LOVE the room pics!!!

Honestly, I'm not sure about the parking deck being for both sides--that's something I didn't pay attention to, but should have. I can try to remember to pull my resort info out tonight that we were given at check-in to see if it says anything about it.

I didn't even realize Lion King was playing in 3D right now. I'm sure Mike would love to see it.popcorn:: We did reserve a copy of the DVD at the Disney Store so that we could get the cool lithographs!

You need to go see it soon cause it's only out for 2 weeks. I loved it!! (may even go see it again....:rolleyes1) Also Subway has the Lion King kids meals which includes those reusable bags and little goodies inside! I have a few pics of them updated in my TR.

We had a great time...thanks for asking! It was supposed to be a quick two-night getaway. We decided to extend it to three nights after we arrived...thankfully our room was available so we didn't even have to switch rooms. Spent most of my time in Stormalong Bay...my kind of relaxing getaway!

I love the villas at AKL, they are so nice!

Picture resizing, already explained above by another poster, you will have to do it individually for pictures you have already uploaded. If you want all future uploads to be a certain size, next time you upload on the upload screen there should be a link that says "Upload Options". If you click that you can set a certain size for all photo uploads.

I do have a question, Is the parking garage for the entire resort (for Jambo and Kadani)?

The parking garage is closest to Kidani (I actually think it's connected), there's really no reason for Jambo House to use it because they have lots of parking right in front of the resort, and if you parked in the garage you'd have to walk a little bit to get back to Jambo House. It is worth it to check out both places though, each hotel has a totally different feel/ambiance.

Can't wait to see what you saw!!!

I ordered it for my dad, and then found out he already pre-ordered it from Amazon, which means I get to keep it for myself, HOORAY!!! And, I just might get distracted by all the beautiful goodies to purchase when I go pick it up. :rolleyes1

Great report so far!! Looking forward to the rest!!

Thank you very much!

Thanks for letting me know. I think my niece and nephew (the little ones) are coming to spend this weekend with us, so maybe we can all go see it together!!

I did see your Subway bags on your TR! Once again, I had no idea about those, but that's probably because I never eat there!

The Villas are nice!! I think they are definitely the nicest of the DVC's that we stayed in this far.

Thanks for the info! I'm sure that will be very helpful to others! I agree that it is a little bit of a walk from Kidani to Jambo or vice versa.

Too sweet that you ordered it for your Dad, but kinda cool that you get to keep it for yourself! I love the coupons that you get when you reserve the movie--I always find something to buy!!:rolleyes1

Once we'd all gotten settled in to our room and checked out every square inch, we were ready for some lunch! Mike and I suggested heading to Downtown Disney since there was more of a selection there. Plus, I knew that I'd be able to sneak into the World of Disney while we were there, so I guess I really had an alterior motive for suggesting DTD!:rolleyes1

As we made our way to the elevator, I had to snap a shot of a Hidden Mickey in the carpet:

We made our way out to the bus stop and before we knew it, we were on our way! I had to document everyone's first ride on Disney transportation!!:drive:

AKL082.jpg

It had been a long time since breakfast that morning, so our top priority was finding some lunch. We mentioned Earl of Sandwich, and everyone seemed to agree that they wanted to try it out. It seems like we always eat here when it’s really crowded, so I got in line to place our order while Mike looked for a table for all of us. Thankfully he found two tables near each other pretty quickly so we had a place to all sit together.
AKL084.jpg

I got the same thing I always get—The Ham and Swiss:
AKL085.jpg

Mike had The Full Montagu:
AKL087.jpg

And Dustin had The Earl’s Club:
AKL086.jpg

Everyone really enjoyed their sandwiches, so we made a good choice!

With our tummies full, we decided to head over to one of my favorite places:
AKL088.jpg

I went off to the Jewelry section to see what the Dooney & Bourke selection looked like, and to check out the Chamilia charms and bracelets. I’d been eyeing the bracelets for a while, but of course there was a heard of people standing around the counter, so I couldn’t even get a good look! They did have a D&B that I liked, but I figured since it hadn’t been too long since I got a new Vera Bradley that I should just wait and save the money!

At some point we all got separated, but when I found Allen he was trying on Mickey ears:
AKL090.jpg

As you can tell from his shirt, it had started to sprinkle on us a bit between EOS and the WOD store.

We exited the WOD store empty handed, believe it or not. I did find several things that I liked, but I didn’t want to keep everyone waiting, so I asked Mike if we could make a stop back by on our way home from the cruise. He agreed, and I was happy that I’d have more time to shop.

Gayle and Allen decided to get a picture with Cinderella as we left the store:
AKL091.jpg

Since Gayle and Allen are Harley owners, we thought we’d walk over to the Harley Store. But, when we got to where we thought it was, it had moved way over to the other side, so we decided to skip it, especially since it had started to rain a little harder by this point.

I snapped a few more pics as we walked back toward the Lego store:
AKL092.jpg

AKL093.jpg

We then decided to stop in the Ghirardelli store. The rest of the gang went into the shop side while Mike and I went into the soda fountain side to pick up a treat:
AKL095.jpg

This has to be the most delicious chocolate drink I’ve ever tasted. We actually got one earlier in the year when we were there for the Princess, so we knew that we had to order it again this time, and it didn’t disappoint!! It’s called the “Thrill Hill Chill”, and the menu describes it as being “More than a milkshake! Two scoops of vanilla ice cream blended with our world famous hot fudge and topped with semi-sweet chocolate chips”! It’s worth every penny of the $6.95 price!!

While savoring every sip of our treat, Gayle and Brandi decided they wanted to check out the Christmas store, and I was definitely down for that, so we headed over there. Of course I took pics of several things that I loved—the first being my favorite:
AKL097.jpg

AKL099.jpg

Would this not be adorable atop a tree:
AKL100.jpg

By the time that Gayle, Brandi and I had finished looking around, this is where all the guys ended up:
AKL102.jpg

I guess they weren’t as excited about all the ornaments and decorations as we were!!

We finally made our way out of the shop and moseyed back to the AKL bus stop.

Up Next: Dinner at 'Ohana!

I did see your Subway bags on your TR! Once again, I had no idea about those, but that's probably because I never eat there!

I never eat there either, and I didn't even know about it because I didn't see it advertised on commercials or anything. I found out about it from a post on the budget board! But I'm glad I got all 6 of them. I had to go to a couple different stores though. The Simba one was the hardest to get. My sis told me that she seen the Simba one on ebay sell for $15!! That's just crazy.

That's so funny about all the guys huddled together waiting on the ladies! :rotfl:

An excellent update! I have never ever been in either Earl of Sandwhich or the Ghiradelli store. I must check them out on our upcoming trip! Can't believe you left without any purchases! I'm always secretly proud of myself when I can resist spending any money :)

Dustin #2 and Brandon looked so unhappy on the bus ride! I hope they were alright :)
