Im suffering today - woke up with a Migraine from the depths of you-know-where.

These things are just TERRIBLE! And being the hypochondriac I am - I look up Migraine symptoms, which are pretty much exactly the same as Stroke symptoms.... so I can have a panic attack on top of this stoooopid brain-pain. :confused3

So, if I never post again - I have died. :scared1:

Otherwise, Ill be just eyeballing posts today, as to not fall too far out of the loop. ;) (yes, I'm also feeling a bit off from the darn RX med's, too .... :sad1: )

Okay, enough of my Pollyanna moment.

What did you take? Dr. just gave me Relpax to try. I was on Frova, but lately I have to take TWO to get rid of them. I HATE MIGRAINES!

Hope you feel better soon.

For migraines I pop a compazine, let my tummy feel like cotton candy, drift off to sleep, and wake up four hours later all better...

Anne

i've tried imitrex and zomig...nothing really 'takes it away in a half hour' like they claim...it's still a 4-6 hour ordeal with me.
until the rebound headache...ugh.

My FIL thought he had a stroke about 6 months ago...ended up in the hospital...turns out it was just a really really bad migraine. He's had them bad before...but he was losing sensation on one side of his body. (he's pretty young..50 or 51).

take care...hope yours eases up some!

My doctor prescribed me Relpax, and I love it! If I take one of them, and 3 Advil when the heaadache starts, it's gone in about 30 minutes. Admittedly, for those 30 minutes, I really don't feel well, but it's a small price to pay to get rid of a migraine

I thought by your title, you were asking us to choose which we'd rather have. There have been times when I have prayed for death during a migraine to make the pain go away LOL

None of the prescriptions work for me too well. I usually pop a couple of Excedrin Migraine at the onset and try to lay down if possible.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Sometimes I'd just as soon die rather than have a migraine. I actually went for 2 weeks without having one and it was awhile since I'd gone for so long without one. When I get one now it's pretty bad and doesn't respond well to the Rx meds, but at least I'm not getting them daily like I was for awhile.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

I'd been suffering from migraines for years before I realized they were indeed migraines... my MD put me on Propanolol last year (Inderal) because my BP is borderline at 140/74. The med is used for both BP control and migraine prevention.... I had my first migraine since starting it last May over the weekend and it wasn't nearly as bad as my prior migraines. (And we're guessing the migraine was a result of a massive amount of stress :rotfl: ) ((((HUGS))))) to you and hope yours gets better soon... you sound just like me-the total hypochondriac googling everything about every little pain....

Oh you poor thing! I get them almost daily. I havent found a Rx that works for me as well as 2 Excedrin migraine tablets and a 20 oz bottle of Pepsi at the first twinge or as soon as I notice the aura. I had to ride a full blown one out last week and was bedridden and sick as a dog. Blech.

Feel better soon! Sometimes laying flat with my feet up and putting a heating pad on the base of my neck helps a little. Staring at a computer screen is just going to make it worse though so you may need to take a break from DISing today. :)

my 2 strokes started out as migranes. i had several tia's before the first stroke (temporary loss of speech, numbness).

familiarize yourself with stroke and tia symptoms and know that if your migrane causes symptoms that are not the norm for you seek immediate medical attention.

My sister had the most severe migranes ever ......she would be sick during an episode too.........but her doctor gave her a perscription for blood pressure meds and it is also a migrane controller .......she did not have but two last year......ask your doctor about it.....oh by the way she does not have high BP

I feel your pain and I hope you feel better soon. I was taking Imitrex, but all that did was make me sick to my stomach and I still had the residual headache 2 days laters. MAXALT. It's awesome. You dissolve it under your tongue at the first sign of a migraine and 30 minutes later you are good to go. you can actually function with this stuff. I actually got a migraine while at WDW waiting to see Fantasmic! The spot lights they use before the show hit my eyes the wrong way and gave me a migraine. Thankfully my mom had her Maxalt, I dissolved it under my tongue, put my head on my DH shoulder for about 20 minutes and it was gone. Granted I watched the show with my sunglasses on, but the headache was completely gone!!

Im going to have to ask my doctor about some of the things youve all suggested.

I know I cant take any "trips" (like naratriptan, or something) because my blood pressure just teases at being high...it's *right* there....

I dont take anything to prevent, only once they hit and sometimes (like this morning) when it's too late - it's too late. So I find myself popping Vicodin like candy - and it never really gets rid of it...just kinda numbs it a bit. Dulls it.

I unfortunetly, am at work.... I get off in just over 2 hours, and *knock on wood* Thank GOODNESS it's been slow. I dont feel like answering any technical issues, today. **stay slow, stay slow, stay slow**

And thank goodness, my boss is also a migraine sufferer and has been picking up my slack.

I might have to call the man to come pick me up tonight. Im seriously whoooooozey! Feeling good though... ;)

Maybe y'all have inspired me to see a doctor about my migraines. I've tried a few things but nothing helps. Mine are always 3-4 days with no relief. I spent Sat., Sun and Monday with an ice pick in my left eye.

I ended up in the hospital for 3 days one time because they thought I had a stroke. Turned out to be a migraine. Didn't really have a bad headache, but I got numb on the left side of my body and I had a hard time speaking. I had some foot drop too. PT had to come work with me in the hospital. Truthfully, I'm not 100% convinced it was just a migrainee.
Those are the migraines I get. Usually though if I'm real stressed out.
The thing that scares me about them is when will I know if its a migraine and when will I know if its a stroke?
Scary.....

Barkley-how did they finally diagnose your tia's and stroke?

?

Thats how I feel. I made a fool of myself (Im sure no one remembers, but me) by going to the hospital while living in Florida last year. Completely boo-hoo'ing, ready to die. My face was numb, I couldnt think straight, the pain in the back of my head was something I'd never felt before - ever!

I was ready to die. I was ready to spend my last waking moments in this hospital bed. And I get the CT scan results....

Migraine - possible sinus infection too. **rip prescription off pad** You can go now.

I'm ALIVE! IM ALIVE!!!! HALLELUJAH! :worship:

But I felt so dang stupid, even with my family (who also knows Im a hypochondriac, so they dont take me seriously any more) hence why instead of making a fool of myself - I GOOGLE my conditions. ::yes::

But - Im planning a wedding, about to move in 2 weeks and began working for a new company about 1.5 months ago - and the girl, the one who truly is all-knowing...is on maternity leave! NOOOOOOO!!! So, Im a nervous wreck. I need a few shots of tequila. :drinking1

Thats what my doctor prescribed too for me, I thought he was crazy!!!

Are you my twin sister or something? I have ended up in the ER so many times that now I never want to go. One of these times I'll really need to go and I won't and I will die! LOL

Like right now for instance I'm having problems with my arm. Its been jerking and shaking lately. My Dr. set me up to see a neuro. They can't see me until April. So in the last couple of days I've started dropping things (spag sauce in the grocery store, how embarrasing). So I talk to my Dr. today and I need to see him tomorrow with the disclaimer if it gets worse, go to the ER.
Well, what exactly is worse? LOL
I am just so hesitant to go now because I always feel foolish being there.

Stess is a killer for me (no pun intended) so I imagine it is for you too. try to slow down because the last thing you need now is to be feeling this way!

My "migraine" turned out to be a stroke. took me about a week to recover.

I hear ya! There was a stint I felt the nurses always knew who I was (I was having an asthmatic issue for a few months) I just *knew* they talked about me at social gatherings...

"How about that whack job who always thinks something's wrong with her??"
"Oh Cathryn - oh yeah, we know her!!! - Looney!!!"

I know - slow down, and relax. I'm trying.... you do the same, and thank you!!! :flower3:
