We have a trip all planned (to the T, including meal reservations and schedules, LOL)...

and then.. we got an amazing surprise in March, we are expecting a BABY! :jumping1:

There is about a 50% chance we will have to postpone our trip from June like we have planned, to December (week before Christmas) due to Pregnancy complications...

Besides our plan being for my sons birthday, which he would be sad about, is this a bad switch or an upgrade?

I would be 20 weeks, in June, if Dr. approves the trip, 6 nights, 5 days.. but I would have to take it really easily, lots of breaks, not jam packed days like i had planned... :scratchin

If we go in December, we will have the new baby (almost 2 months) but no restrictions health wise. We could rotate going on rides, with the bigger kids.

Current trip scheduled June 22- June 28th our December trip would be December 17th - December 23rd.

Be straight with me, LOL.. Is this a little bit of a bummer or a plus?!?

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations!!
Christmas in Disney is awesome! Have a great time!

Upgrade! Personally, I'd happily go with December. You will be able to really enjoy it then without possibly not feeling well and definitely the ride restrictions. And importantly, the decorations look amazing at that time of year.

I've had to cancel a trip and reschedule and know it's hard to delay, but the planning is fun and the tiny baby clothes at the parks are adorable, so your baby will be stylish. :)

Congratulations on your news!

Thank you guys! That helps a ton! I don't feel as sad now. I know my and the babies health IS most important, but still is a bummer to postpone by 6 WHOLE months! Ah!

Oh but wait, my fiancé just reminded me (THANK YOU PREGGO BRAIN).. That the baby will only be ONE month old, NOT two, months old, if we do December...

Isn't that kinda young to take a baby on a vacation, on a plane, etc???? :sad1::scratchin

It might be exhausting for you- you probably wont be getting much rest at that point still!

Have there been any limitations with your past pregnancies? Going to disneyland while pregnant is not that bad, especially since you have a 2 year old that won't be able to go on the adult rides anyway. You can hang with him for the rides that you shouldn't go on while pregnant. :)

We don't have a 2 year old, we have a big will be 4 year old and a 9 year old... But yes, we would be quite sleep deprived with a one month old.. I just wonder if it's super abnormal to travel with that young of a baby, LOL!

I do have pregnancy restrictions, I currently have a subchorionic hemorrhage, and based on past pregnancies, am at a higher risk of placental abruption.

So, using a wheel chair would be required, if doctor allows for us to go. o_O

I would go in June in a wheelchair instead of December with a one month old. But my babies were not easy.

I've seen plenty of tiny babies at DL. And June would be hot....hot and pregnant doesn't really mesh well.

So, that doesn't really help LOL

Right? So concerned. LOL.

I am LESS worried about it, since i was able to find scooter rentals for under $200 for the entire week, so that will make it more do-able for us, as long as doc says yes to flying.

Guess it's a wait and see for us, I am booking hotel for December as well, just to be safe.

I was set on postponing, if the vote was that December wasn't a downgrade (so to speak) to June, but my brain was obviously not working, and taking a one month old, seems outrageous, LOL. I am not worried about being sleepy or the baby being unhappy on the trip, because i have carriers and wraps, etc, but taking a newborn on a plane seems risky, and if it was really cold somehow, probably not best for baby to be outside that many hours.. Ugh, so many decisions. LOL

Baby should be fine on a plane. Just keep him/her in a wrap. Feed at take off and landing or give pacifier. Cold weather? Just put your jacket over the two of you with baby in a wrap. If your other two were easyish babies, I'd do December. June was too hot for me, and I'm in the AZ desert. My babies were not near easy, so it would be a no brainier for me.

Gotcha, that is a high risk pregnancy... I would be scared to go on any ride with that type of pregnancy, but your doctor would know best!

Babies are easy, that's the good thing. But, you might also spend a lot of time feeding and changing the baby too, so you might miss out on some things. Is it possible to go another time?

I would be concerned about taking a one month old unvaccinated baby on a plane and to the parks. There are so many colds/flu in the winter months and colds in babies can be serious. Also I remember that whole measles outbreak problem. But I tend to be really careful about those kind of things.

Could you plan it for when the baby is a few months older? I know waiting stinks. But at least it's for a very happy reason! Congrats on your pregnancy!!

First, CONGRATULATIONS!:woohoo:

I think the scooter is a wonderful idea if you go in June. The heat is hard enough to deal with when not pregnant! And with the train down you have to walk everywhere in DL right now. If you end up going in December it is absolutely NOT a downgrade. We only went during summer & last year did our first Dec trip & it was beautiful! The Christmas decor is gorgeous, that close to xmas the park hours were long, I would have zero regrets about Dec instead of June.

Alas I would not take a 1 month old to Disneyland but I am neither a doctor nor a mother for the record. I would want a better developed immune system in the baby. So many people, from so many places, crowded together constantly. Plus winter -> cold season -> flu time. It was this time of year in 2014 DL had the measles outbreak. It is a bummer to postpone a Disneyland trip but maybe you and your husband could consider sitting down with next year's calendar and see if maybe you want to go then?

My bottom line: DL is magical year round! There are great things about the summer season & holiday seasons. And- it isn't going anywhere!

Thank you all so much for the helpful input. I appreciate every one's advice. :love1:

Ah. Such a hard decision.

See that was my thinking, one month old winter baby just seems so fragile and again with this pregnancy brain, LOL, I didn't even think of him/her being unvaccinated.

I think as long as we get the go ahead for flying, we will do June, with the scooter rental, as much as **I** love Disney, this will really be a nice trip for our two older kids before the baby comes and even though i may be green with jealousy over not being able to go on rides (almost at all) seeing their excitement and joy, is definitely the most rewarding.

With that being said, are there sill ANY rides you would go on with my risk, such as Little mermaid, Haunted Mansion? Etc. -- They seem no more rough than a car ride, but I can't remember precisely, and I don't know about which rides may have an abrupt e-stop.

Thanks again, you guys are the serious best! :disrocks:

Little mermaid
Haunted Mansion
Winnie the Pooh
Rockets
Dumbo
Small World (although, the boats often bump each other- would that be safe?)
Jungle Cruise
Storybook Canal
Monorail
Finding Nemo
Buzz Lightyear- Astro Orbiter

I am sure there are a few more you could probably still do.

Awesome, thanks so much! :) That's a great list. If i remember correctly, most of the bugs life rides were pretty calm too..

i am most sad about Cars, Indiana Jones and getting to try BTMRR (it was down on our last trip)-- i obviously would NOT ride them, NOT worth any risks, but man will I be jealous when my family loads those rides... LOL.. You better believe I will be eating extra treats to make up for it! ;)

Tricky...I might consider postponing a could of more months ( :scared: I know!) till baby is a bit older

We need to look at our tickets and our airfare and see what the dates are for postponing. Do Disney tickets have expiration dates usually? I could PROBABLY talk kids into February, or something, which would make baby 3 months, which would be better!

More Fantasy Land rides would work too, but I don't normally ride most of those, so I am not sure which would work for you.

Yes, Bugs Land rides would be ok, except for Tuck and Roll. I would think Soarin would be fine too.

I think Christmas time is a HUGE upgrade over June in most cases.... Weather alone would be much more bearable in Dec. Having a newborn might offset that some. Personally, I think you should go in both June and Dec and report back with your findings.. ;)
