Our september trip, meant to be me, mum and my toddler. Turns out we are having a few problems with mums passport etc since she wasn't born in the UK. So we might have to take mum off the booking. I called Disney to see if this is possible, and I was told 35% charge, I totally understand, which is £159. But the money we can get back is only £295. Mum and me, went half's on the total holiday which is 8 nights at SL with eurostar tickets for 3 of us. It came to £1800 ish. (yeah quite a lot).
Anyways what I think my question is, is that is there any chance of getting more money back, or transferring it into meal vouchers or something? Also shouldn't it be more than £295 we get back? Was expecting something around the £600 mark. Also the eurostar, will we get the price of that back for mums seat?

Just wondering if your Mom can qualify for a different passport from the country she was born in? Just a thought. Depending on the extent of the problem, maybe you could still get the UK passport in time. Can you go stand at the passport office and wait to be seen? It seems a shame for her to lose out on the vacation. :rainbow::tink:pixiedust:

It's going to take at least 6 months for a British passport, but she's calling new zeland tonight and this is when they will tell her if her new application is successful. It should be as we have sent all the right paper work, they just need to get there butts in gear there. All because she has a different surname now than what was on her old passport.

Oh dear, what a shame.

Did you book the Eurostar through Disney or independently?

If independently I think it depends on what type of ticket you've bought - fully flexible can be changed or refunded, semi-flexible can be also changed or refunded for a charge, but non-flexible you're stuck with. If you've bought through Disney I don't know how it works, sorry.

Hope your Mum had a successful phone call last night. :wizard:

Hope NZ can get her fixed up in time. saying a little prayer for you that it all works out. Best of luck.:grouphug:

Could you change the name to someone else? Sad about your mum, I hope she can come xxxxxxx

I really hope it works out for you! Sounds like a nightmare!! Keeping my fingers crossed

i hope she gets her passport in time

the reason you would have gotten back so little is that the single occupancy rate of a room is quite high, it isn't split 50/50 per adult sharing. if your mam wasn't going you would pay the single rate and whenever i have priced up a trip in the santa fe it was usually only about 250 euros more than me in the room myself.
