Might have to cancel 1st DLRP trip :sad2:

Thanks again everyone, your advice has been wonderful!

The HR guy is coming to see DH on Friday but its an informal meeting so we can't really go see a solicitor until we know what they say.

DH went to doctor today who signed him off for 16 weeks!!! I asked DH is the doctor thought he was dying or something! That seems like an awfully long time! :rotfl: DH said he didn't think he'd need 16 weeks and that the doctor was just being cautious.

I think the main problem here is the industry DH works in, its the rail industry and I think the atmosphere in general can be a bit neanderthal (certain aspects of it anyway). Not that this excuses his boss' behaviour in the least. But they might use that as an excuse for the behaviour of his boss. I don't understand how someone like him can stay in a job for over 7 years...imagine how many people's lives he's made difficult.

We are definitely going to move our trip to May, i'm optimistic about the results of this. DH doesn't like living in London anyway so maybe he can look for a job elsewhere in Herts, Bucks or Oxfordshire, I don't mind commuting :)

I always like to think that something good comes out of bad so i'm hopeful!

Will let you know what happens on Friday!

The length of time the doctor's signed him off for should strengthen his case with any HR hearing that takes place. Working under that amount of stress for so long can't be good for you in the long run. How people like his boss manage to keep their job's is incredible!!
Good for you for looking on the bright side!!

i'm so sorry this is happening to you guys... can you contact Citizen's advice for some free advice??

I hope things get sorted for you....

Eloise,
Send PB my regards !
I am the chap that got married in Orlando at the same time you were there. I work indirectly with your DH and therefore know exactly what you are talking about.

Keep it confidential that said so, but please pass on my regards, he will know who I am.

Russ.

By the way, your Hubby said that you used this site, and now I know who you are !
I am here far too often, normally in works time ! My wife and I are addicted.
I am not 100% certain what went on between Mr B and his boss and to be honest, wouldn't want to get involved.
I spoke to him last week when I was up at the site and he was very excited about booking to go to DLP and we had a lengthy conversation with me telling him all about it.

I hope things sort out, Mr B is good at his job and well liked in our office. He will be missed if he doesn't return.

PM me if you want and I will send my home e-mail address.

Regards,
Russ.

Hi all,

Can't say too much about what happened today but the guy from HR came to visit and seemed very supportive and intolerant of the kind of behaviour DH has put up with for over a year. So he gets to stay home for a while longer and learn to relax ;) I don't think he will be losing his job which is a big relief!

Am definitely changing our trip to May though...gives me a bit longer to build up the excitement and plan which is half the fun for me :teeth:

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you and hopefully things will be resolved soon and DH will be back at work (and I can start planning trip 2 to WDW...help me someone, i've become a Disney addict!!!)

That's really encouraging news Eloise, bet you and your DH feel a lot better now.

Glad it's getting 'sorted' Eloise and that workplace bullies are being sorted out it shouldn't matter what the industry is that kind of treatment should never be tolerated. I'm glad the HR person is on the case now. Maybe this blowout by the Boss will end the way he's treating your hubby and anyone else who reports to him.
