Midwest to ground all MD80's by the fall [MERGED]

That's fine with me- I just need to know if my return flight has been cancelled for sure. If so, I want to book return on Air Tran and then I'll deal with Travelocity... although I do seem to be getting the run around from them right now.

So I'm on hold as well.

Do they give you NWA as an option?? I saw a flight I would concider....

Can I assue my refund will go thru and book elsewhere now since I have the red letters as well...

TIA!

When I called, I didn't get NW as an option, I was just told no availability for our Nov flight. (I got the red letter message when I logged in & checked on our flights.)

When are you flying? As I read it, they will not fly to MCO through most of September & October -

from today's announcement:
Tampa will be the only Florida city we will serve on a year-round basis. Flights will be operated on Boeing 717 aircraft. We will continue nonstop service between Milwaukee and Orlando, but only seasonally. During the transition, we will suspend service Sept. 8 through Oct. 20, and then resume it Oct. 21, 2008 through April 30, 2009.

RE: bookings through travel agents, they wrote this:
If you booked through a travel agency or online service such as Orbitz, Travelocity or Expedia, the agent or online service will contact you.

Good luck!

anyone successfully get put on another carrier? (this would be my best case scenario as I am not finding ANY Midwest flights to MCO on my dates 12/14 & 12/24.

otherwise I am looking at Delta as my cheapest alternative. Aitran a little bit more but non stop...

on hold for over an hour now on 2 different lines. Thank goodness for speaker phone.:goodvibes

good luck everyone

If my return flight is not showing up online when I check my ressie, - does that mean it's been cancelled?

OK so unlike most of you, I booekd through a internet site. I did double check my itinerary and the flight is gone. I would suggest if you booked through al alternate site to call them immediately.

My CSR is currently on hold with Midwest, but I guess they have a special phone number to get through quicker.

I did book another flight through Delta -- and the lady said that is operated by Midwest express and is calling to verify -- I am SOOOO frustrated!

After our Midwest flight was cut this morning, I was able to get another flight through Air Tran. Of course, it is going to cost me $250 more for our family to get down there. Small amount in the grand scheme of life, but enough of a difference to cause us to juggle a few trip related items, and probably cut out a character meal or two. This is not how I wanted to spend a Sunday:surfweb: My wife had a flight from Madison to LAX that was changed as well, as no more flights from Madison to KC anymore. When I did talk to Midwest, "Elizabeth" was very polite, and I feel for her today. I can imagine the number and type of calls they will be getting the next few days:sad2: Hang in there everyone...

I just got off the phone with reservations. The woman was very nice and handled all my refunds. She told me I could have gotten refunds online and I told her that feature was not working, all I got was the dreaded red letters saying I needed to call in. She said she'd report that to someone so that they'd fix the website.

I also will get my miles back for two flights we had booked with miles in December. She said to wait a bit to see that they are redeposited to my account, otherwise call again in a few days when it isn't so hectic. I'm hoping it works smoothly and our miles are back in our accounts without me having to call again.

Well, it hasn't been fixed yet. :headache: We're flying to Orlando Sept 25th, so our flights were eliminated!

What are we going to do now??!! :headache:

Was able to get my refund through Midwest, but now I'm frustrated that I can't get anything as great as the times/price I got on my original flights! Still looking for booking on another airline. I HATE layovers, but the only nonstops are in the afternoons going there and in the morning coming back--wasting both days. Ugh! Thanks Midwest!

Just found out that our outbound flight on 9/7 is still flying, but our return flght on 9/12 has been cancelled :headache:
So, I called Midwest and they said they could issue me a refund, or the people in the scheduling dept. would call me back in a few days and see if they can put us on a different airline on the way home.
Hopefully, they can put us on a different airline :headache:
This is not the way I want to spend my Sunday am

Well, I am having the ugliest morning. Woke up with a headache and then sat down to read the disboards.... and I was scared too! lol Thanks to everyone who did post the info though, I do appreciate it! My lovely Expedia sent me nothing thus far, and I have been on the phone with them, which in turn they are trying to get through to Midwest. I am requesting a full refund- I am done with this. We have driven before, I will drive again. Yes, its a 24 hour drive, but I know that I can somewhat control when I am going to leave, get there, etc... I have tried calling Midwest all morning and I just keep getting a busy signal. Expedia says the 800 number I have is the only one they have to call as well. My issue is that if I booked thru them- THEY should have to sit on the freaking phone all day- not me! Isn't that why we book through places like these, so THEY can handle these types of bumps in the road??:confused3 Anyone else who is dealing wih an online agent, please post here your experiences! (Still on hold with Expedia.......)

Man, I feel for you! We must be sitting on hold together! I am still on hold with Expedia, so much for their "we will be with you in 3-5 minutes".

I booked another flight with Delta -- but now the lady said Delta might be related to Midwest, so even though those flights are available they really are not. I cannot find another direct flight at all... husband is so bummed out! Might have to book AAA for over 100 dollars more per person.

How long was everyone on hold? I've been on for nearly 2 hours now!

I've already rebooked my return flight on another airline (this is the one that isn't showing up on Midwest anymore) and I'm thinking I'm gonna actually go ahead and book my originating flight with the same airline and ask Midwest for a refund. The new flight actually works out to be cheaper for us anyway!

Okay **UPDATE**

I booked a second flight through Expedia and the lady said that was a smart thing to do. We will definately get our money back because the flight was cancelled. She never did speak to a CSR from Midwest but said not to worry about it and call again sometime later in the week.

So, advice for those of you booked throguh third parties, just book another flight and worry about it later! :)

I am off to get my day going now!

My guy at Travelocity said they can't get through- that the "office" is closed for the day and to call back tomorrow. At least your peeps are willing to do their job nad contact Midwest.

This is my first post and I thought it would be a happy one-guess not. I have been on hold for almost 2 1/2 hours with Midwest:mad: . I bought 5 tics in Jan. to fly out Thanksgiving AM and I don't think I will have any luck. Anyone else supposed to fly out 11-27 ? I feel your pain.

A really firm foundation for avoiding Travelocity going forward. They're clearly not interested in earning their commission. This is the kind of thing that they're being paid for. If there is no advantage to booking through them (i.e., them doing the work when there is a change), then why book through them? :confused3

Ain't that the truth! This is the 2nd time I've had problems with them. They're out on 2 strikes as far as I am concerned. I will never book through them again. I'll make sure they understand that as well.

I booked ourselves on NWA out of a closer airport...at $100 more per ticket. :headache: I still haven't been able to get through to Midwest.

For those getting refunds, when are you expected to see them? I booked on my Debit card, and Expedia told me it would take me 60 days until I see it!! :scared1: I am hoping it is a bit faster than that! I was hoping to use it for our now road trip to WDW.

I got through on Midwest's # finally- Expedia was useless. I know they tried calling, but they just did exactly what I could do on my own. ( I just feel I SHOULDN'T have to do it on my own). I am on hold..... are they giving anyone a hard time for refunds?
