Midwest Airlines--reliable?

I'm thinking of booking Midwest Airlines for our March 2008 trip because I like the times of the nonstop flights.

Do they have a tendency to change their flight times like Delta and some other airlines, or even worse change a nonstop flight to one with a layover. I really don't mind layovers, but the layover flights from Kansas City to Orlando on Midwest usually include a stop in Milwaukee--that's right they would fly 500 miles straight north on their way from KC to Florida. I don't want to take the chance of getting stuck in a snowstorm.

Also do they credit your account if the price of the flight goes down, a la Southwest?

We've had our Midwest flights from KC to Orlando since August 06, we leave on Memorial Day. Our flight has only changed once, and that's because they only had 1 nonstop KC to Orlando a day, they added a second one and changed the times for both. We're now arriving at 12:30 pm rather than the 7:15 pm we had originally. They didn't notify me of the change, but I have a feeling I caught it pretty quickly, maybe before they even had a chance to notify us.

My sister and mom each have tickets that were affected by the change. Our ticket prices actually went up, but theirs went down. They were issued vouchers that can be used at any time in the next year.

I fly midwest when ever I can. I had my flight changed just by minutes and received an email stating so. Maybe previous poster did not have email info on file?? In anycase- I like Midwest Express- I dont believe they credit your account for price differences.

I think they are great. For us, they fly out of Milwaukee, that means no 3 hr Chicago traffic. They have always been good for us and friendly too. Sometimes they have cheap fares, but not always.

I LOVE Midwest and fly them anytime I can, anywhere in the country, from Milwaukee. Sometimes I even fly Midwest as far as I can and then switch airlines to get to my actual destination.

For Florida, I fly Midwest twice each year for our trips to Disney from Milwaukee. Direct flights at convenient times at good prices (if you shop well, especially during their sales.) And you can't beat the two across leather seating of their signature service. Even their saver service planes have better seating in coach than any other airline I have ever been on.

Hi
We have flown Midwest twice and we do like them. They are our first choice when they are available and the times/price fit. They are very professional and nice. Here are some details so you can judge for yourself.

Our first trip was to Las Vegas in 2005. We booked about 4 months in advance. About two months before the trip they called to say our flight had been rescheduled to depart 4 hour later, this was due to changes in the Las Vegas airport. That wasn't going to work for us as our plan was to rent a car and drive several hours north into Utah. We decided to go a day earlier and stay in Las Vegas overnight. They accommodated us without a change fee. I don't know what they would have been if we could not have adjusted our own schedule.

For the return flight, when we arrived in Milwaukee, they did not have a pilot for the flight to Madison, Wi (which is a 90 minute drive away). We were delayed 3 hours waiting to get a pilot. There was no compensation, just polite apologies. We didn't ask. The delay didn't upset anything important in our schedule. We are the kind of people that just want to get there safely.

Our second trip was June 2006 to Orlando. We learned it was easier just to drive to Milwaukee and do nonstop flights. It was very uneventful.

The choc chip cookies are a wonderful treat, meals are ok (you pay extra).

Have a great trip!

Hi again
I believe they do credit the difference is the new fare is lower, however they charge $100 for a change. The details of their policies are on their website.
