Midway Airport in Chicago.

We are going to be flying out of Midway for our trip in August and wondered if anyone has used the parking on 55th? It is not attatched to the terminal I think the rate was 10.00 per day. Wondering if it is secure and safe? Has anyone encountered any problems parking there? Would like any details. Go ahead give me the good, the bad and the ugly!!! LOL

We parked at one of those lots a few years ago during the terminal expansion project, because of that it was simply a gravel parking lot.. Security was fine and shuttle bus was hassle free...

I flew through Midway last July and again a few weeks ago. When is that construction supposed to be done? I flew both times on SWA and climbing up and down steps to board a plane is difficult with carryons!

Used the 55th st. lot in Nov., only for 3 days, but it was fine. Shuttle was no problem. I am not sure aboout const. now, except that there is ALWAYS construction in Chicago in Summer! Are you talking about in the terminal itself or the outdoor construction?

I was talking the airport terminal construction itself. Seems like that SWA terminal has been undergoing renovation forever!

I've parked there before without a problem. The bus service was very fast.

My boss flies in and out of Midway a lot and always parks in the long-term lots. He's never had a problem with security or shuttle buses. They even gave him a jump last time because he'd left his lights on and drained his battery.

If there are more than one adult in your party and you are going to use off airport parking be sure to drop one adult, kiddies, and luggage off at the terminal, then let the other person park the car and take the shuttle in. This makes it alot easier than trying to reload and unload your stuff on the shuttle bus. Dropping off is especially helpful if the airport has curb side check in for your airline.
