Sitting here watching the news and just worrying. I know I have no control over what is going on over there, but it concerns me so. This is probably going to sound selfish, but I do not want the US to be dragged in, I think we are spread way too thin. I do not understand all the politics, but is anyone else thinking, this could be very, very serious for the whole world. Anyone got any reassurance for this worrying Mother tonight who has daughter living in London.

I am living for today......between that person sending off missiles for kicks and now this...I probably will not sleep tonight...

Yes, it's difficult to know that's happening, isn't it? I get the guilt thing: sitting here in my comfy home, eating way more than I should, and relaxing with my family...........when all that tragedy is happening.

I'm worried about my cousin.............not near the Middle East, but so near Korea..........

I agree Paige, I cannot believe the horror I am watching as I sit here in my office, at my computer, with a cup of tea, just watching the little portable typing away. Not a care in the world while people are bombing each other....I do not think they will ever get along....there is no end to this fighting.

I'm another worried person here, I just don't get it, why can't they all just get along! Do they even have a clue what they are fighting over, this stuff has been going on for ever. I have had to stop watching the news it just gets way too depressing.

The world just seems to get more complicated by the day. (As if it weren't complicated enough!) It is distressing to see the escalation in the Middle East and like everyone, do not want the US to be brought into yet one more powderkeg. I just wish things could simmer down and maybe they could talk. I know that is very naive but I feel so bad for the civilians on both sides caught in the middle of all this. I do believe that the North Korean dictator just wants attention and when he isn't getting any, he launches off some missles or threatens nuclear war. It is like a 2 year old stomping their feet and having a temper tantrum.

Yeah, but a 2 year old having a temper tantrum while holding a loaded gun.............

Now they are saying Iran is behind the whole thing.....I just happen to have O'Reilly on and he is scaring the life out of me. I do not want to type the words let alone think WWIII, and here he is just talking it out. Where is the UN... where is Nato.. good points...Yikes.

I usually stear clear of political issues and admit that I don't know a whole lot about Israel and its problems, but I must chime in and say that I definitely do not want the United States involved in yet another country's war.

Like another poster said, "why can't they just get along already?" This crap has been going on over there since I was a little girl. Agree to disagree, but live peacefully. I can't understand why anyone would think bombing others will solve problems. Only makes misery and more problems. God help them and all of us.

Good grief! Turn off O'Reilly... His mission is to scare you and sell his coffee mugs.:happytv: (Think Jerry..Jerry...Jerry)

Lou Dobbs is a wonderful broadcaster and Anderson Cooper is easy on the eyes while he delivers the horror. He really is blunt and I like that.

IMHO....I have not been "glued" yet. I drop in and watch 1/2 hour at a time. As far as Israel, it is unnerving but expected, nothing new there.
Korea vs Japan..now that has me a concerned. Old grudge there...

I'm sure that if Haliburton can profit our brilliant president will get involved.

You know I used to like O'Reilly. Then he got real weird when his books and coffee mugs came out.
I know he got slammed by....someone in the media and was never the same after that. This is BEFORE sex scandal.

You offer alot to a conversation.

We live in a small town with 4 pediatricians. Our pediatrician is in that group. She is married to our town's only nephrologist. They are from Lebanon and go back every July to visit their parents.

My primary care physician is from Lebanon......she lives here now with her immediate family but has family in Lebanon....I can only imagine how she is feeling....this is horrifying.

I don't wish to fight or debate anyone in regards to our President or Bill O'Reilly (or about foxnews, cnn for that matter since someone is sure to make disparaging comments about one of these news sources soon, lol) but I do want to say that I am also very concerned about events in the middle east right now.

I've got my eye on what's going on and I don't like what I see either.

I just shut it off too, I hope we don't get involved. We have enough going on already without this. I am scared.

two women in my office are Israeli. they were talking today about how Olmert has called up the reserves, and how scary things have become.

I have a friend who lives in Tel Aviv. she's originally from NY. about two months ago she met the love of her life and decided to move back to the states. she's getting on a plane in two weeks, and is relieved to be leaving at this time.

I feel for the Lebanese people. they've been through too much as it is, they don't need Hezbollah instigating an escalation of the situation.

The situation is very worrisome. I have a friend from Syria and his family lives in Beirut. I sent him an e-mail this morning wishing the best for his family.

The United States should not get involved in this conflict other than to try to craft a cease fire. Both Israel and the Palestinian militants have lost their moral footing through many violations of human rights and decency.

I can't believe how fast everthing is escalating. I too, do not want to get drawn in. I think our troops have enough to deal with as it is. I also just heard on the news that gas prices are already starting to jump from the instability over in the mid-east. I do not want to start a debate about our economy. Some say everything is good, others say economy is in bad shape. Either way, I am beginning to wonder just how much more the economy can take. I too wish the fantasy of World Peace would come true.
I miss the naive days we had before 9-11. Everthing in the world felt pretty good back then. Wait, was that only about five years ago? :grouphug:
