So I thought I was doing really really well and being totally ahead of the game.

Middle DS told me in AUGUST that Santa was going to bring him a Blue iPod Nano for Christmas. So in September I bought a refurbished Blue iPod Nano for him from the Apple Store for $99. :thumbsup2 Phew, done taken care of and in the color he's sure is going to come.

Well, yesterday, while we were out shopping for DH's B-day present he said, can I look at toys, I want to know what to ask for for christmas. So there we are in the toy aisle and he's dreaming and drooling and I say "so I thought you wanted a blue iPod for Christmas", "oh, I do, they're so cool, Santa's going to bring it to me and not only is he bringing me an ipod but it's a video camera too!" Huh? Video Camera. Oh, No, the refurbished iPod nano's don't take videos but the new one's do.

Soooo.... I talked to DH last night, he said spend the extra and get him the one he wants. And I'm going to. But....

The only deal I've seen is Target on BF which really isn't that much of a deal, not enough to get me in line at 4 AM in hopes I'll get it especially since there's no guarantee on the color - and it has to be blue - he's very determined on that. I'd rather just order online and hope for a general coupon that applies to iPods.

I can get $10 in cash back rewards at the Apple Store if I purchase thru my Discover card, but I'm hoping for slightly better. Sooooo has anyone seen a store coupon for say $15 or $20 off a purchase of $100 at a store that sells iPods?

my 12yo DD still believes whether I believe her or not that is ok :cloud9:

I don't know about any deals, but why do these kids do this to us LOL

You may want to hold off on getting it now. Last year and the year before Apple.com had deals for 5% off when you order online. it's not a huge deal but it's something. esp if you hate to wait in lines like me!

My dd 9 still believes. I agree on the flip camcorder, that way you aren't out of the price on the refurb.

I bought that new ipod...and the difference in price between the 2 sizes is not that much so I would go with the one that holds more. The video is pretty good too. I bought mine from the Apple store when they came out. They have free shipping and they will also engrave the back for you...I had my name and phone number put on it.
Apple very rarely has sales other than the refurbished ones, but I think they are well worth the money.
I would order soon, since if you do order from Apple they come from China...you can actually track the progress, and they are quite fast at getting them to you, but with the holidays coming and the demand I wouldn't waste to much time.
So now you get to enjoy your own ipod....(the refurbished one you ordered)

My DS who is 12yr still believes. He wrote his letter to Santa just the other night and is mailing it today.

I agree with a few of the other posters. I bought him a flip camcorder for xmas last year and he loves it! He also has a MP3 that he got for his birthday also last year and likes that he has them seperate. Just a thought.

your 9 year old boy still believes that santa is bringing his gifts?

when our son was 9 he still believed, why would you want to end such a magical moment, their innocence is so short, you want to hold on to it as long as possible.

I was very upset when his cousin convinced him Santa was Me and DH.

Have you contact Apple about returning it and purchasing the upgrade?

Agreed. My son(s) also believed at age 9. They're in 4th grade, for crien out loud!!

Geez - people act like the kid is 17.

I think some kids just don't want to give up believe in Santa for fear that they won't get as many gifts. There's no harm in believing in Santa at age 9 or 90 for that matter.

But as far as changing gifts, like what they asked for on their wish list, you can only go so far as to appease them. I'm sure your son would be happy with the Ipod you have already purchased. I mean, we can't get them everything they want. At least in our family we can't.:rotfl:

my DD is 12, and while i doubt she still believes in Santa because kids at school have been telling her for 3-4 years that Santa isn't real, she still pretends that she does. I have told her many times "If you don't believe, you don't receive", and I kinda like that she humors me. I enjoy picking out something special for her from Santa.

OP: i'm on the lookout for a laptop, but i'll keep an eye out for you for video ipod deals too.

My dd is 10 and still believes. She just told me last night she doesn't know why kids try to say he isn't real, he's a Saint Mommy! :cutie: I always tell her only those who believe get a present from the big guy. No need to rush through childhood. :goodvibes

On Black Friday, apple.com, and I think the store as well, will have a small discount on their ipods if you'd like to wait for that.

I would check the weekly Target and Best Buy ads every week. They usually have a deal like the Black Friday deal at least every few weeks.

My kids know they can't have everything they want. Tell him Santa only brings one big gift.

My DD10 still believes as well. :goodvibes Her mommy was such a geek and asked so many questions I knew Santa wasn't 'real' by age 9 but that was my discovery. She can discover that in her own time.

Back to the subject, also check sites like Amazon.com for iPods. If DD10 didn't have one already that I'm going to have 'recycled' at an Apple Store to get 10% off a new one, I'd buy one from there. They discount them as well. I tried to talk DD into getting the Nano with the video but she wants the 'Touch'.

Mine still believes at 9 years of age and will be 10 in Feb. I think its a wonderful thing. Maybe you could sell it on ebay? :confused3 Mine wants the ipod touch and santa will be bringing that to her on christmas morning..

My 9 yo DD still believes. I am in no hurry for her to grow up. I'm sure she has her doubts based on what friends at school say, but I am not going to be the one to ruin it for her (us). I will play along as long as she does. :goodvibes

a 9 year old boy who admitted that he believes would be laughed out of school. I personally would not be lying to my kid at that point.

pretending doesn't make christmas special, people do. Only my opinion, of course.

wow, that is sad..:sad2: most of my kiddos friends all believe and it never has come up otherwise. Im so happy for that. Mine believe in the tooth fairy, the great halloween pumpkin, easter bunny and the crazy leprechauns that come and mess up the house every year.. I will be bummed when that is all over.. such great memories.
