I have a quick question. For a bit of background, two of my siblings and I are going on our very first trip to Disney World at the end of January. We have planned to go to all four parks and then go to MK a second time on the last day. My question is that we have a dining reservation at Storybook Dining at Artist Point for that last day. There is the option of going at 4:30 or 8:30 pm (We have two reservations booked, I will cancel one once we make a decision). Is it possible to leave in the middle of our day in the park, go to the reservation at Wilderness Lodge at 4:30, and then get back in time for the fireworks? If so what would be the best way to go about it? Like the best time to leave MK to get to the restaurant in time, how to get there, and if there is time to explore the resort. Also, is that too much or too stressful? Would it be better to leave MK at the end of the night instead and finish our day with dinner? Just spitballing here. I would really appreciate some feedback on this. Any advice is welcome.

What time are the fireworks that evening?

Whichever reservation you choose, you can take a boat directly from MK to WL and back. If you have 2 days in MK, I would definitely try to get Storybook on your itinerary.

I think the fireworks are at 8:15 pm. How long does that boat take usually?

Depends on your timing and how crowded the line is. Felt like we waited longer for the boat than it took for the boat to get from MK to WL. Though that was for an evening dinner rather than late afternoon as you're describing. To get back from WL, you could also consider just taking the bus over to Contemporary, and walking to MK from there.

We always allow about 20 minutes for the boat to arrive (I've never actually waited that long). I would opt for the 4:30 pm dinner - be at the boat dock by 3:15 pm/3:30 pm at the latest, that should give you ample time to get to WL and even see some of the resort if you arrive early. You should be done with dinner no later than 6:00 pm and should be back in MK by 7:00 pm or so. If available, you could also consider taking a Minnie Van back and forth.

There are no busses between resorts so you can't bus from WL to Contemporary.

Was a late dinner with toddlers so maybe I had that backwards. All I know is that we were staying at Bay Lake, took the boat from MK to WL for dinner, and took the bus back. We could have gotten off at MK and walked back, I guess.

EDIT: Some resorts also share buses, and I think Wilderness Lodge and Contemporary sometimes share. So it may also have been one of those-- not a bus to the Contemporary per se, but a bus to a park that stopped at Contemporary along the way.
