Midday breaks - Bus or car?

We will be taking midday breaks back at POR since we have small children.

Would it be easier to use the bus system or our own car since we will have it?

Are there advantages to using the car or bus at any of the parks?

Any suggestions from others who have tried both?

I travel with my cousin's family to WDW. They have small ones as well. If you have your own stroller, sometimes it's better to just take your car since the parking is free for resort guests. The travel time back and forth isn't too, too bad. The only park where I would take the bus is MK. If you drive, you have to park; take a tram to the TTC; then take either the ferry or the monorail to get to the entrance. If you take the bus, it drops you off right in front of the MK.

We have done it both ways car and bus. I really prefer the car at all parks by MK. There are a lot of stops if you drive to the MK. It is free to park for resort guests. It is far easier to use your car with a stroller than the bus. Have a good time.

You could drive there in the morning and then take the bus back to your room in the middle of the day, and then when your ready to go back later on you take the bus. Then at closing you don't have to wait for the crowded buses because you have your car. We've done that before and its very nice, I think we even did it at POR.

That sounds like a nice option.

I have found our own car to be the most time efficient mode of transportation at WDW. Disney transport is efficient, but most times you will have to wait longer than it takes to get in your own car, and drive back to the hotel. :sunny:

I like to use Disney transportation. My theory is that I'm on vacation. I don't want to drive. I know a lot of times it is faster to use your own car...but do you want to? I drive a lot at home...so it's a nice break for me.

Especially in the summer. I hate to have to get into a hot car. The buses are always cool when you step inside. Something else...a couple of times we have left the parks soaking wet thanks to a sudden downpour. Since I wouldn't want to get the inside of my car all wet, the buses are a better choice for me.

I have used Disney transportation from CBR, AKL, YC, Poly, GF, and CR. I have never had any complaints. We have never waited more than 15 mins for a bus (except at park closing times and even at that, the longest was about 30 mins).

We always have our car since we drive. What WE do is drive to the park in the AM, we usually get there before opening and get a good parking spot so no problem there. Then we have the car to get home quickly for an afternoon break. When we go back out in the evening, if we go to a park, we usually take Disney transportation, rather than parking in the boondocks at the park.

Whenever we go to a resort for a meal, we take the car. MUCH faster than taking transportation to a park, then catching the correct resort bus from there.
