Mid trip report...... hmmmm

We decided Saturday morning to run over to the parks for a long weekend and a couple of nights in a resort. The only resort available was the Yacht Club waterview for 2 adjoining rooms. We arrived yesterday and pulled up to valet, it took longer than normal for valet to take care of us..... I was getting nervous. We were checked in and went up to our rooms...... holy moly they smelled like ashtrays!!! My wife is 4 months pregnant and she was really having problems with the smell. I went back down to the front desk and they could only send up housekeeping with Lysol and a fragrance.... Needless to say the wife was unhappy. We went and ate a late lunch at Beaches and Cream and came back to the room. The room still was pretty stinky. I took my Dad and 4 year old son to the pool and we swam until 9 pm. After getting showered we went to grab some dinner (9:15pm) and went to the Galley and they turned us away.... they said they were full even though I could clearly see 50 percent of the tables empty. We then ran to Cape MAy and got there at 9:25pm and they said the same thing. Mind you the place was nearly empty!! I ended up going to the store in the beach club and buying some soup and premade sandwiches. I was really annoyed.

I woke up this morning and ate breakfast buffet at the Galley and we went back to the room. My son had now developed a cough and the room smelled just as bad as when we arrived. That was it!!!! I am done with the BC, YC and boardwalk....... I called reservations and got 2 rooms on the 12th floor at Contemporary and we moved immediately. We spent the afternoon at Epcot, ate in Germany and returned to our clean, fresh and nice rooms at CR. We are going back out to the MK until 11pm after dinner tonight. Our concierge people are great!!!

I have always stayed at the WL, CR, AKL or GF and thought that we would like the others...... negative! I will never venture out of the big 5 again. I am really dissappointed with YC. Oh well.

D-Hlaw, I feel bad for you. After being pregnant 3 times, I know how those smells can make you queasy. Yuck. How annoying about the restaurants,too. I would be ticked off. It is stressful - especially with kids & being pregnant - to not be able to find a place to eat!!! (We just went thru this in Hawaii - had to have reservations for dinner or a 2 hour wait) Thank God for room service.

I have always had luck with the CR 12th floor. The concierge staff is terrific. Once the only MK view room available was a smoking room and they could tell we really wanted it so they said to go out & have fun and they would have the housekeeping team get it ready. They went out of their way on that room. Washed everything. The rugs were still a bit damp when we returned, so I know they were cleaned, too. We couldn't even tell it had been a smoking room at all. That Lysol thing the YC did was totally lame. I am glad you got to move and hope you have a great rest of your weekend!! Live and learn, right??

The only appropriate remedy is to book a week over christmas for the family in the Presidential at WL or AKL!!!

I don't know if this makes a difference but it is Passover - I am booked for this Sat for 5 nights at the Poly and was told everything up until Sat was completely booked everywhere but then it really drops off after that. They aren't even sold out for May 5th - their celebration day!

I hope you enjoy CR. We almost booked Beach Club for the pools but heard such good things about Poly and their concierge, we opted for that. I am glad as I have heard mixed reviews on BC/YC - esp how crowded it is with other resort guests.

Enjoy the rest of your stay - did BC/YC offer anything when you were checking out?

Saturday night, I had the worse service I have ever experienced on the Boardwalk at Big River Brewing. I could see that they were busy, but it looked like they had a huge dinner rush and never recovered. There were empty dirty tables sitting and people waiting for tables. The long wait for food was served up with attitude. I don't remember EVER not tipping before, but our service was so non-existant, that we just paid for the food and left.

Hopefully, they'll get better and it was just an off night. We've been there a couple of times before and we really enjoyed it. It sounds like the Epcot area was suffering!

I'm glad you were happy with the CR! Good move!
