those traveling were me, nicole, 25 and my boyfriend, chris, 28. this was my 5th trip to WDW and DBF's 2nd, the last time he went, however, was before EPCOT opened. we carried a passporter with us at all times and it was great. that's how i'm able to remember enough to make trip reports even after we've been back for two weeks and survived the holidays. we stayed at the animal kingdom lodge for 6 nights.
we went to MVMCP on 12/16. we had PS at chef mickey's at 5:30 so when we were done we took the monorail to MK and got there right around 7:00. i had told DBF that the first thing we were going to do was take our picture near the back of the park where it tends to be less crowded. he loved the snow on main street as we made our way back there. we had not intended to do many rides since i wasn't sure how crowded it would be since the reports on the boards seemed to vary. but when we were at MK earlier in the afternoon, we didn't get a chance to ride much and we only had a half day planned at MK later in the week. we got in line in liberty square for the picture and i decded that we should skip the "twas the night before christmas show" and do rides until the late parade time. i must say at this point that DBF has been asking all day when we are going to be at MK at night and when i told him it would be today, he made us go back to the hotel to get something, also earlier in the day i was looking at a MM ring and he told me that i didn't need any rings. we when stepped up to get our picture taken he pulled the photographer aside and i knew at that point exactly what was going on, becuase i had a feeling all day. when DBF stepped back to the backdrop, he got on one knee to ask me to marry him and the flash went off. after being totally taken aback and claiming "i don't know" but smiling at the same time, he told me i didn't have to answer right then. the photographer then took another picture of us together, showing off the ring, of course, and the nice CM filled out another card for us so we could get both pictures in the mail.
we then moved on to haunted mansion, DBF, or i guess from now on, DF's favorite ride. some other people that were in the picture line apparently had the same idea b/c we got a few congratulations while in line. though it really wasn't much of a line becuase we pretty much walked on to the ride. after HM we also walked on to BTMRR, splash Mtn. Space Mtn, and Buzz. i was so excited about buzz, i racked up 47,500 pts. i've never done that well. we thought about riding again then saw that astro orbiters line was only a 10 min wait. the last few times i've been i haven't even attempted to ride due to the long wait. we got in line and were entertained by CM jackie, she was very funny and happy. good entertainment!!
then it was time for fireworks and we stood on the tomorrowland bridge. we had a good view of rudolf. the fireworks are the same as fire in the sky but with a different finale. the finale was all christmas music and 360 degrees. it was really neat to see the fireworks all around you.
we then went to adventureland and rode my favorite, pirates of the carribean, and the magic carpets of alladin. don't forget when you ride this one with only two people, have one person get in the front and one in the back so you have full motion of the carpet. no lines on either ride.
we went to frontierland to see the country bears, but the show had started and we got a good spot for the parade. in front of the shooting gallery is a little table with a checker board on it, and two cubes to use as stools. we moved the cubes in front of the table and had a perfect view of the parade and were close to the begining of the pareade route. i loved the parade, my favorite part is always the toy soldiers and the smell of gingerbread coming off the gingerbread house float.
after the parade we walked through the walkway right by country bears to adventureland and got hot chocolate at a station right across from tom sawyer is. it was not crowded at all and we went to see cinderella's carriage. it was beautiful and cinderella and fairy godmother were out for pictures. we went to the front of the castle to get a good spot for the "celebrate the season" show that started at midnight. i really enjoyed the show. it had good chracters and a few dance sequences from the nutcracker. when we left it was not too crowded, a good idea to catch such a late show. as we were walking down main street with the snow falling i stopped BF and told him "yes". the night was complete and magical.
we made our way back to the hotel and had a glass of wine to celebrate out on the veranda overlooking the savanah, there were no animals out but is was nice outside.
