Mid-ship Cat 3 Fans: ever run into this trouble?

Some of you have been following my saga on some problems I was having wrt getting my cabin switched from a non-midship to a midship Cat 3, primarily trying to go from 8046 to 8034.

Basically, DCL would not let my TA do it. They told her that 8034 is a connecting category 3 stateroom that creates a large 2 bedroom suite for larger families. Disney Cruise Line will not split the connecting Cat3s up unless I am traveling with another party who is also in a Category 3. (The same would apply to the other 3 mid-ship cat 3s). DCL told her that as the sailing got closer (about a week), and no larger families took anyone of the cabins, I could change, but right now they are leaving them open to make them 2-bedroom suites.

Now, DCL **did** let me book this myself, but I am still waiting to see if my TA was able to get this straightened out for me.

Has anyone else run into this when booking with a TA v. booking directly through Disney?

If you're asking whether DCL will deal directly with you since you make the original booking, I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

DCL turned the booking over to your TA at your request. Unless DCL's policy has changed, you need to communicate requests such as this through your TA.

I originally had a cat 4 booked on our first cruise. Then I decided to go for a mid ship cat 3.

Well, the switch took all of 30 seconds and there were no problems.

While these suites do have a door that connect to the next room, if you are not paying for the other room, the door stays locked.

The Cat 2 suites are 2 beds, and the Cat 1's are too much to be believed.

I'm a fan of 8532, I found that this side of the ship was cooler during the heat of the day (position opposite to the sun most of the time) and really enjoy the room.

If you get this cabin, Cosana from Croatia is the hostess and she is great.

I've never had a problem selecting a connecting room for a client. Whether it's the category 3's, the "secret porthole" rooms, or any stateroom for that matter. If the room is open, it can be booked by anyone whether they need the connecting room or not.

That's not **quite** what I was asking. The 2-bedroom rule was what DCL told my TA. I called as a new ressie and booked this room on my own without it being connected to my TA and other ressie. So, yes, I was double booked for about 6 hours, one ressie on my own, and a separate ressie with my TA. I was wondering if anyone else ran into the 2-bedroom rule? Which I probably didn't make clear.

Well, it turns out that my TA was so upset over the conflicting info, she spoke to a supervisor and got everything straightened out. Turns out the DCL rep who spoke to my TA didn't know what she was talking about, and wasn't supposed to be answering the TA line. (Sounds like Disney has separate lines for customers and TAs, and the supervisor apologized profusely.) So now, I do have cabin 8534, and all is right in my Disney World!
