I am thinking of taking a quick disney trip around Oct. 12 - 16th; Is there anything major going on at that time that I should be wary of as far as crowds go? thanks!

I think there a couple of HUGE conventions (30,000 attendees each) in mid-October.

But, Disney is Disney! There's still magic whenever you go!

thanks - I think I will go anyway, no matter the crowds...I just was wondering what to expect! I guess it makes sense that if we have Fall Break, others will too....

Ok..Ive always heard that Oct is one of the best times to go! We will be there from Oct 14- 20th. I sure hope it isnt too crowded :sad2:

Let me know if anyone has the scoop on any other major events going on during that week. Thanks!

Depending on my work situation, we are planned to go the end of October. If my transfer goes through, we won't be going until February or March. But anyway, October is a great time to visit, but it seems like more people are starting to go this time of the year. The crowds were light and the weather was perfect.

:surfweb:

We went last year in mid October and the crowds were very managble. The only time we saw really big crowds was on the weekends. We will be back again this year from Oct. 12-23 :)

Question for the folks from Kentucky, have you driven to WDW? And if so how was the drive? We might be relocating to the Louisville area for work. According to mapquest, it is "only 13 hours", definately shorter than from Jersey, so it is something we would consider.

Thanks in advance.

We live about 45 min from Louisville and it is about 13 hours. The drive is pretty much a straight shot right down I-75. We have driven down in the past and are planning on driving in Oct. We usually stop somewhere in southern Georgia to stay for the night then get up and go early the next day. It usually gets us there late morning/ early afternoon. Any more specific questions just ask away! :thumbsup2

PS Kentucky is a beautiful state. You'll love it. :cheer2:

I hope its not crowded that is the whole reason we picked october plus mnsshp. We are driving from Indiana, its usually about a 16 hour trip we stop in georgia for the night then head out early the next morning.. :sunny:

It will be crowded but not crazy. Food and Wine Festival, MNSSHP, Conventions and Fall Break are all during that time. October used to be a slower time--not anymore. But hey Disney is Disney---it will be fine.

We are going Oct 15-21st and as long as it's not as crowded as June I'll be ok with that.

Luckymom thanks for the reply. I won't know until mid August if my transfer went through. If it goes thrugh, I'm sure I will love it.

but most of the parks weren't too bad. In 2003 my DH was attending the Gartner conference at WDW roughly around those dates so I tagged along. The resorts were heavily booked but the parks weren't bad during the weekdays (since a lot of guests were busy attending the conferences during the day) but park attendance did seem to pick up during the evenings and weekends. The one exception was Epcot where the Food & Wine Festival kept the park fairly busy most of the time we were there.

It's a really nice time of the year to go.

You may be cutting it close, right before food and wine fest, the big golf classic and whatever sporting events are going on.
