We are going to WDW in the middle of May. Is it hot and if so what are the high temps. Also, is it crowded?

Not as crowded as summer, but more than the off-season.

Hot. Temps average in the low 80s, but when I went in mid-may this year there was a heat wave - it was in the upper 80s most of the week and very humid.

I think it is the best time of the year to go, the crowds are not bad and the weather is hot but not like the middle of summer. We have gone twice in May and never had any rain. :goodvibes

::MickeyMo Ditto! It was HOT this year! ::MinnieMo

Your best bet is to just plan the trip and hope for the best. Check the weather as the trip gets closer so you'll know what to expect.

The last time we went was a mid May trip and it was HOT. I thought I would be smart to plan it then because it wasn't actually summer yet. Wrong. It was in the upper 80's to low 90's when we were there. I am used to high temps having grown up in So. Cal. but what threw me was the humidity. Ugh! Even sitting down in the shade you still sweat! Never again will I go at any time other than Nov., Dec., or Jan. But that's just me, some people can handle the heat just fine. In fact they prefer it like my SiL who will wear thermals and a sweatshirt when it's 75 degrees out!

May is the perfect month....crowds not too much...it's hot enough to swim and wear shorts at night, but not august hot.

We have gone twice in May. Once was as high as 93 and another time was warm but comfortable.

we have been many many times in May. My experience is that in general it is 80+ but low humidity (for florida) and very little rain. This makes it feel much cooler than in August when humidity is high. Blue skies and often in a two - three week period, only one afternoon of rain.

Crowds as others have said are low ish...not empty.. but low.

The crowds are low, but it is hot! We liked it much better in the first week of March, when crowds were also low but it wasn't hot at all. It did rain some, but that only made the crowds lower.

I've gone the first and/or second weeks of May for the past three years, and each and every year it was hot. One year it never got below 92. YIKES! It sure was hot, but I wouldn't hesitate to go again. The crowd level was much lower than you'll find in the summer, and that awful humidity hasn't come in yet. The weather sites may say it averages in the low 80's, but that's factoring in the temps at 2 a.m.

Mid-May is when it usually starts feeling HOT in Central Florida. Not as bad as July and August, but not as nice as April. If I had a choice, I would go in April - except during Spring Break when the crowds would be heavier.

It's a nice time to visit IMHO. Temps can be in the mid 80s to low 90s at times, but it's not as *hot* as it gets here in July and August. Mostly due to the position of the sun in the sky and the humidity being a little lower. By mid-June we're really hot and the end of July and August are insanely hot.
