Mid May - Good time to Go????

Hi all, Just back from wonderful weather and low crowds! Would love to go again this time NEXT year, but my DH and Dkids want to go sooner. So I was thinking about the week of May 13-18th. Anyone know what kind of crowds we can expect in May? Are the southern schools out yet?

Any advice on this time would be helpful!

Not exactly mid-May, but we did 5/5 to 5/14 in 2006.

Great weather, moderate crowds and the Epcot Flower Exhibit.

Liked it so much we are returning again this May! 5/04 to 5/12

Yes, that is a great time to go. The weather is so beautiful and the crowds are minimal.

We went the 2nd week in May this year. Weather was great. Crowds were a bit more than I expected actually. They were very doable, but I really thought it would be a lot slower. We saw lots of school groups with matching shirts. I wouldn't hesitate to go at that time of year again tho

I would highly recommend Early to Mid-May. We always do our big Disney trip in May cuz the crowds are low and the weather is nice. I can't think of more than one or two days of rain in the last 6 years of May Disney trips.

We went in mid May in '05 and LOVED it! The weather was absolutely perfect. I mean it - it could not have been better! Warm and sunny, but not hot and humid - and not a single drop of rain in 10 days! Deep blue skies for every picture. (Altho' one day when we were at MK, some friends told us they ran into an afternoon shower at AK.) Crowds were lighter earlier in the trip but still pretty low the 3rd week. The Epcot Flower & Garden Show is beautiful. My only advise would be to avoid Ep Mother's Day week-end if you are concerned about crowds - or go early with a good plan.

Me too, great weather, moderate line times. Last time I went in Jan/Feb, lines were the shortest I've ever seen, but it was cold some of the days, and two days it rained buckets. So bad I decided to rent a car and go to the Mall.

Never had bad weather in May though, 15 trips and counting since 1987. Going back May 2007.

we were there then, too. too hot and crowded for us. I was shocked after all I heard about "low May crowds". the beautiful Flower and Garden festival almost made up for it. We had been early March 3 years in a row and loved it. If we go in 07, it will be in March.

We went down in mid May 2006 and can echo everyone else's comments - the weather was ideal. The crowds were approximately 75%-80% of peak times, mostly because the kids are still in school. What we did notice were large numbers of British families, which brought the question to mind: when does their school year end? It would be good to know, for planning purposes.
