mid August vs late March - Easter

Which would you recommend? We could go mid August but a couple of people have said that DL will be incredibly hot, crowded and smoggy.

The other option is to wait until Easter next year, looking at March 24-31, I think. I'm thinking Easter is going to be just as nuts as summer crowd wise, but maybe the heat and smog isn't as bad? But then again, I really don't want to wait a year...

Mid-August is hot, crowded and smoggy. Late march might still be crowded (though not so much during the week), but the weather will be better (though yesterday was rather hot). Late March can have iffy weather--it could be hot, cold, rainy, windy or perfect, there's really no predicting it. For August, you'd at least know exactly what to pack.

One thing to consider is that most of the rides and shows are operating in August, whereas some of the rides may be in refurbishment and some of the shows idle during March. Then again, by the time August rolls around (when we have gone the last 5 years), some of the rides start to experience breakdowns more often.

Thanks. We picked a different date altogether. We're booked to go July 6 - 13. Looks like Magic Mountain and the Castle Walkway are closed then. Guess it doesn't matter when you go, something will likely be closed.

I hope you have a great time! Early July should be a good time to go ride-wise, as most will be up and running at that time (except for the obvious Space Mountain). Also, having days in the middle of the week will help somewhat with the crowds, but expect quite a few people anyway.
