I just saw aunt2brant's thread about popcorn and it got me to thinking. My boys love microwave popcorn as a nighttime snack and when we go to the movies. Is there a place we can pop some before the movies?

"cook" on a cruise? Bite your tongue....The CMs would have a cow. Let the boys try to order it through room service themselves, if you must. This is where you teach your kids about the "joys/perils" of being waited on and pampered...:hyper:

Nope, no micro, and I think the only place there is popcorn all the time is every evening outside the Walt Disney Theater, where they run the shows. Have heard of a popcorn cart outside the Buena Vista theatre when the run the movies too, but have never seen it myself.

There were no microwaves for public use. I used to love microwave popcorn but I have a 4 year old who will literally vomit if she walks into a house and smells it. Don't know why it effects her like that but she will be right in the bathroom throwing up from the smell. She loves the taste of movie theater popcorn and the smell of that but microwave popcorn smell sets her off.

There was a cart outside the BVT selling popcorn, nuts, large bags of M&Ms and canned sodas on our last cruise. You can also get these items through room service ahead of time, but they are on the paid-item list.

The popcorn is not fresh-popped, unfortunately. It's in a bag. Still better than nothing and not really different from the theaters that buy huge bags of popcorn and dump them into the bin to make people think it's fresh-popped. :)

The concession stand outside the WDT has a lot more choice. I also found white cheddar popcorn (yum) at the duty free stand outside of Diversions.

Aprilgail2...I have the same reaction to it...but its only if it has butter on it..if I use kettle corn I have no reaction to the smell...

Really? I will have to try that..she goes into a panic if I even bring a box of microwave popcorn into the house LOL. If I pop popcorn with an airpop machine she is fine with that...just that buttered microwave one.

I have the same reaction to the microwave butter smell. Healthy Choice makes a no butter flavor (that is really low in calories) and Jiffy Pop makes one called White & Healthy. Sometimes we add real butter after it's popped. Yum.

You could aways pop a few bags and put it in a ziplock freezer bag or tupper ware container and take it with you, it will last at least a week in the freezer bags or tupperware. Take some smaller bags with you to put it in for movies or shows.
