I've seen a couple of reviews and they seem favorable. Anyone out there seen it yet? What do you think from what you've heard?

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I'll use Vista on any computer optimized for Vista. For older computers, which are already running XP, I just don't see the need to upgrade yet.

What do you mean "optimized for VISTA?"

I just got a new computer and actually I just set it up last night. On the box, it says that I am able to get a free copy of VISTA and I was wondering if I should get it and use it? I don't do a ton of intensive things -internet, e-mail, bills, etc.

Thoughts?

That's a good question, Beth. Inquiring minds wanna know. I have heard a lot of the computers recently sold are upgradeable to Vista from XP and even heard it is free in some cases. Is this just an old XP that is getting a patch or was it originally configured for vista but couldn't be sold that way yet? Will it create a lot of problems to upgrade? I am just thinking of past windows products. :confused3

IMHO:
I would get the free copy but would not use it yet. Every Microsoft OS that has come out has had a lot of bugs in the first edition. I would wait until the second version came out, or the upgrade ( for first edition users ) is ready.

My Inspiron E1505 that I'm typing on right now has a sticker on it that says, "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP". I won't be putting Vista on it. By comparison, new computers are designed for Vista; they have been engineered to work best with Vista, instead of XP; they have peripherals that are supported by Vista; they have components powerful enough to work with Vista. That's what I was saying.
