Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates ... buying?

Oh My God, could you just imagine if Gates ran a theme park? Rides would crash constantly, your park hoppers would jam the readers, and trying to upgrade your room ressies would be a nightmare. You would have to pay to speak to a CM, all problems would be the customer's fault, and any refunds would be out of the question.

You have to wonder if he had a hand in the finger scanners for AP passes. Out of a dozen times it only worked once.

I have never had a problem with the biometric scanners (1-5 uses per week for the last year), and only a very small percentage of guests seem to have trouble with the scanners (from my own personal observations at the turnstiles). The primary causes of problems seem to be
1) too many fingers,
2)Sun shining on reflector,
3) Wrong hand,
4) Arthritis, and
5) hardware problem.
If the sun is out and at a low angle of incidence (morning or afternoon), shield the reader with your free hand and see if that helps.
I also see people removing their fingers too soon quite often. Your fingers have to be still long enough for the scan to complete, and wiggling or a too-fast "in and out" will not always have positive effects.

Don't let these little technology problems get you too down... I get people every now and then who will stand in front of the stile, ticket in hand, glaring at the machine. When I tell them that they should put the ticket into the machine, they say, "What? There has to be a better system, this is the Computer Age!" God help us if computers are ever able to read someone's mind...

You'd be surprised at how many times people try to stick their entire hand into the scanner, rather than just the first two fingers. More common still, are the three-finger people who can't get "ring-man" to comply with the instructions.

I have yet to meet anyone with 6 fingers, but I'm sure that as long as the last 4 were curled under while they used the scanner, they would scan just fine.

Hmm...better keep Antonio Alfonseco away from the turnstiles...

A little while back I had heard that Microsoft no Gates would try to take over Disney. It could be a good guess if Microsoft decides that to compete with Sony they would need an entertainment business and a movie studio. That is really all that they need. Disney almost makes sense but I think that they are a little to big for Microsoft to manage.

WDW
Disneyland
Disneyland Paris
Tokyo Disney
China Disney Project
Disney Cruise Line
ESPN
ABC
Miramax
Buena Vista Television
Touchstone
Dimension Films
Disney Studios
Buena Vista Records
Disney Interactive
DVC

There is more that I haven't listed. I am sure that Bill Gates would love to conquer more of the media world but this might be way more than he wants to chew any time soon.

I have never had a problem with the scan....

... even when i used my wife pass by mistake! ;)

Just imagine if Gates ran the parks, it would be impossible to get anywhere with all the pop ups
