Trying to help a group raise money for an event and the person in charge is not a big fundraiser person. So parents will have to pay a lot out of pocket because of this. WHY? I am sure there are many ways to raise a lot of money for this kids group, but the guy thinks they are a waste of time and wont bring in money. We need a good fundraiser and one he would like.
I know that is not what makes a micromanager, but he is one. We parents cannot do anything to help this group unless he is in charge of it (even cleaning the studio). Everything done he puts his hands in and he doesn’t have the time for that. Ideas only come from him new ones are not accepted at all. So this group is all about him and not the kids. Gggrrrrr

Time to find a new group! (J/K kind of.) What kind of group is it and can your kids join a different one?

Did this person work for a corporation? If so that may be one reason. The place I worked for would give us schedules which was micromanaging and this person had never even done the job. So I can relate I hate micromanaging. Maybe you could gently remind him this is a fund raiser, so could we please make this enjoyable? If not I would move on, you need to have fun not stress. Hope this helps. Jo

Sounds like he's a control freak to me.

Thank you all. DD loves the group and has no clue the guy doesnt like parent help. I guess this is one of those pick your battle things. Oh and the guy just happens to run the group for now, we shall see if that changes.

I have found in the corporate world micromanages often feel they have to justify their jobs by over managing those below them. Of course any good leader knows this is the exact opposite of what you should do and unless they are the owner/CEO or know where the bodies are buried they are eventually pushed out of a well-run organization.
