My son's family was over on Friday night and it was pretty obvious that he and his DW had already been exchanging presents. Me, on the other hand -- well, I've always been a Santa Nazi and NUTHIN gets opened until the morning of...
What's your position on this vital issue?!?!:rotfl2:

p.s. Even though I was attempting to do a really pure Christmas this year -- books for everybody; no toys 'cause of the lead-paint scare, I caved on Friday and got Guitar Hero and and a guitar controller for the boys. They are 16 and 17. If they are so dumb to put their toys in their mouths at this point, a little lead ain't gonna make a whole lotta difference... I sure hope the grandbabies won't be too disappointed.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

This made me laugh out loud! ;)

my kids are from a divorced parent group so as the mom I have always planned well ahead and usually we open presents on the weekend before or after xmas so that the kids can get all the families in they need to, now this started when they were all 10 and over but I have always planned the days before just to get them started, the grand kids have so many places to go it gives them time to see and maybe enjoy some gifts before they get the mass from ever where else.
Yes it makes for a lonesome xmas eve and a xmas day but it has worked for us and frankly each year I think we could get on a plane and spend that time either at my dads home or even at Disney, I swear one year it will come together and I well wake up at my dads home or with the mouse.

Normally, we try not to open anything until at least the "one" present on Christmas Eve night. But this year, it just sort of got away from us. We were supposed to have been having to deal with family today, but the weather messed that up. I have to work tomorrow morning too as well as the day after Christmas and I had to work yesterday morning too. With all of the time that I was leaving Gabby alone, it just sort of happened that when we had time alone today, it felt right to enjoy each other and our gifts today. Which worked out well with all of the new Nintendo DS stuff she got, she really has taken a lot of time to get it all together the way that she wants it. Trust me, she has a lot of gadgets to "bling" it out.

We have enjoyed our day. I hope that tomorrow night, we can have good enough weather to go waste some gas and "light look" around the surrounding neighborhoods. Christmas day will be the never ending day of phone calls with her family and mine, so it's just been a lot of fun to be relaxed and spend some much needed quality time together......with presents. :santa:

Happy Holidays! Maggie

My family was always doing the multiple house thing...my immediate family opened on christmas eve (from each other) then on christmas morning from the big red guy...then we went to Somerville to open gifts at that great aunts house ( 2 days there - you know personal and Santa), then off to Cooperstown to open gifts at my grandfathers house (same deal there - 2 days gifts after slogging through the snow drifts to get there!). Sometimes we were off to Long Island to open at my grandmothers' and if the midwest compliment didn't make it east and we managed to go west...well yet another christmas there, otherwise we had a late christmas when the gifts arrived by mail.

All in all we had a pretty good haul! Now it is just down to Christmas day with my hunnies' family. My parents and I decided a couple of years ago to not exchange gifts - they have no idea what I am into now, and they have everything they want or need...
