Okay someone help me out. Is it worth the price to go to this? From what I read there doesn't seem to be all that much to make up for the additional price (would be almost $400 US for us b/c we have 6 ppl in our family). What do you guys think? Is it a must do, or would Magic Kingdom during November just be as magical seeing all of the Christmas decorations and things???

My Wife and I went last year. We loved everything about it!

Honestly, It was worth the $$$. They do make everyone leave the park first before they re-open to MVMCP.

Get there right when it opens so you can get back on SM, SpM, and TM. (as they are fun to ride in the dark and also very short wait lines). They also have special activities for kids (dance parties with the characters)

The parade is really very nice and they shoot stuff into the air to make it feel like it is snowing.

They provide free Hot Chocolate and Cookies throughout the park.

We've done both the Christmas and Halloween parties, and while we prefer the Halloween version. However, we love both of them, and will do whatever season-appropriate party there is during a given trip.

That being said, this is really a personal call.

For us, the Christmas parade, the special shows, the "snow" on main street, the character meet and greets, the special fireworks... this makes it worth our time. We don't do a lot of rides during a party, since those can be done any time, though some feel like this is a great opportunity with low lines.

Is it worth your time? Not sure if the Dis can answer that for you.

You'll definitely get mixed answers on this, but basically, it's all going to depend on you.

Some people love it, and wouldn't miss it. Others could take it or leave it.

You get characters in "Christmasy" costumes.
Themed parades and fireworks.
Shorter lines on some rides.
Hot chocolate and cookies.
It snows on main street.
Picture opps abound.

But if that doesn't sound like your thing, it may not be worth it.

We went in Dec. 4 years ago and my whole family --including DH who isn't a huge Disney fan like me;) -- loved it. When I booked for Nov. the kids were disappointed bec they didn't think we could do MVMCP but as it turns out it will be happening 3-4 times while we're there this year.

They didn't make us leave the park - they just had us get bands to wear -- it seems like they were set up with CM's at certain places in the park where we stopped to get the bands.

I don't think it's worth it for that many people. For 2 people, I thought it was worth it.

They don't make you leave the park. Historically you can enter at 4:00 with your party ticket, at 7:00 they start the festivities while gently escorting non-party goers out of the park.

I usually agree with the theory that if you haven't ever done something, you should do it at least once. BUT, $400. is alot of money. I did it once in 2004 . . . and most likely won't do it again. I'm not really into parades and would rather be up early in the morning than out late at night. I do remember the fireworks being absolutely awesome. That year the finale consisted of the fireworks going off around the entire perimeter of the park.

I've heard most people enjoy MNSSHP more, but we've never been to Disney around Christmas (and who knows if we'll be back in December again) so we went ahead & got tickets to the party. I'm really excited! :cool1:

Thanks for all of the feedback so far everyone. I was wondering what is different exactly from being at the park on a none MVMCP day then on a MVMCP day, besides the few extra things for kids and a few extra fireworks, the snow on main street and the cookies and cocoa? Are the characters not in Christmas costumes everyday around Christmas or only on party days.

CM and characters are in holiday costume Only on party days until all MVMCP have been completed

Can someone elaborate on the special character meet & greets? TIA!
my fave part of the parties are
at the dance parties (ones in Tomorrowland and the other at Diamond Horseshoe) various characters actually dance with the crowd and can grab a quick photo op We did wait on line to pose with the 7 Dwarfs Belle had on her Red dress and I think Mickey and Minnie were dresses in holiday attire

I have been once to it and while I enjoyed it; there are so many other things to spend your money on. If I could sum it up, it would go something like this: It is like extra magic hours with "FREE" hot cocoa/cookies and an extra parade. When I was there the ride wait times were pretty much non-existent so that is a bonus. As has already been stated, it will depend upon each person. Some wouldn't have it any other way. Me, I could take it or leave it. Of course, I could raise my debt limit and then really enjoy it! :yay:

If you think that the extra 5 hours are worth it in the park and you have the money, then go for it. Otherwise, I would save it on something else.

Frankly, you're the only one who can say whether or not it's worth it, and you can't do that until you've experienced it at least once. So go, and then you'll know.

I agree with Belle83 and a few others -- the thing that may make it not worth it is that you have 6 people. We are in that same position too. When we first started doing WDW with kids it was just 4 of us -- 2 adults, 1 child and 1 under 3 (aka free). Then we started to have to pay for 2 adults/2 children which made us rethink things.

Also -- we had years (long time ago now) where it felt like a private party (very small crowds) but then when child #3 came along -- seems like the crowds either got much bigger or we started to rethink the value/fun ratio.

Once our oldest started hitting the adult ticket price/rate -- we stopped. It is very nice but very pricey especially for 6 people.

My dad has a friend that said the same thing. He went 2 years with him & his wife + 4 kids (2 were under 3 so they were free). By the time they went back at Christmas again, all the kids were over 3 plus they had an infant so they were paying some big bucks - and the kids didn't even want to stay the entire time.

sorry to just jump in with my own question...can you have reservations at crt on the days of the party or do I need to make it on a day without the Christmas party?

Ok heres the lowdown from a vet of both parties.

MNSSHP is wonderful if your a Halloween person. Much better than MVMCP . That being said , MVMCP is a delight for those wanting to kick start the holidays . Snowing on Main st is one of those life moments you will never forget.

Both parties are not what that used to be in regards to lines/crowds. While many times the lines will be shorted, especially at the end and beginning of he party, Main will be packed as will Character greets.

Cookies n hot coco or trick or treating is cool , but hardly worth the prices alone. The reason to go is the atmosphere.

You cannot be seated at an ADR after 7:00 if you are not a party ticket holder.

You can get you ticket band up to two hours before the start of the party , this way you do not have to fight the crowds exiting at closing.

If you just want to see snow , you can go to the back of the park on SPlM SPM or PP, and just wait till they usher you out. Then you will catch the snot on the way out while crushed in the entering and leaving crowds...

All in all both parties are , at least a once in a lifetime must do for everyone!
