Late-breaking news - Halloween and Christmas party dates, prices and on-sale date

As this update was going to press, MousePlanet has learned that there were solid but unconfirmed dates and prices for both Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Both parties will have more dates than ever before, will start earlier than ever before, and cost more than ever before.

Halloween party dates will be September 15, 22, 29, October 2, 5, 6, 10, 12, 16, 17, 19, 20, 23, 24, 26, 27, 30 and 31. The first two dates, earlier than ever before, are in addition to the dates that I had previously reported. Note that the Magic Kingdom schedule currently online at the Walt Disney World Web site still shows the park as closing at 9 p.m. and 8 p.m. on those nights, respectively. Discounted advance purchase pricing is $39.36 for adults and $31.90 for children. Advance purchase discounts are not available for October 27, 30 and 31. For those three nights, as well as all tickets bought the day of the event (if available), the pricing will be $45.75 per adult and $38.29 per child. Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members can get an additional 10 percent discount on September 15 and 22, and October 16, 17, 23 and 24. Those additional discounts must be picked up at will-call and will require valid passholder or DVC member identification.

Christmas party dates will be November 13, 17, 27, 28, and 30, and December 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19, and 21, although one source indicates that December 22 will also be a party night. The first two dates are the first time that the party has been held before Thanksgiving. Discounted advance purchase pricing is $42.55 for adults and $34.03 for children (including tax). Advance purchase discounts are not available for Friday nights in December, as well as all dates from December 18 on. For those nights, as well as all tickets bought the day of the event (if available), the pricing will be $48.94 per adult and $40.42 per child. Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members can get an additional 10 percent discount on November 13, 17 and 28, and December 14. Those additional discounts must be picked up at will-call and will require valid passholder or DVC member identification.

All prices listed above include tax. Child ticket prices are for ages 3-9, adult prices for ages 10 and up.

Tickets are expected to go on sale on Monday, May 1.

For anyone who has been to both parties which party is better (especially for the cost)? We will be able to attend both this year. However, we arrive @ 4:30 pm on 12-21-06 and will be using ME transfers. I am not sure if we should buy tickets for 12-21 because it would be very rushed and 12-22 might not happen. We will get tickets for the Halloween party for sure, just not sure about the Christmas party. Are we missing a lot if we can't make the Christmas party?

Once the parties are done, most of the festivites will switch to daytime like the parade and special shows.

I think it's worth it BUT I also don't like feeling rushed.

I've done both and love both. I did both last year and it was great but usually we alternate.

Ok, um doesn't it say in our passholder sleeves that we will get 25% off tickets?

And is that 10% off the gate price or the advanced purchase price? It wouldn't be bad if it was the advanced purchase price to make up for the 25%.

But how nice that DVC members can get it.

Holy crow, I got nervous when I saw this thread & thought I'd missed out on the tickets going on sale! Thought we weren't starting a new thread until then, but glad I didn't miss the date they go on sale! :)

If the dates listed are correct, then Dec 14th is the only date that will have an AP discount in Dec and the only one that falls on our trip (ap discount-wise). If you had a choice would you go then and save the money (for 3 tickets) or go another night in hopes it would be less crowded? We'll be there from the 10th-16th, DS will celebrate his 10th b-day on the 11th & wondered if that might be a fun way to celebrate?

Anyone care to speculate on the better choice of days from my post above? TIA!

The christmas shows, parade and fireworks are exclusive to the party.

The christmas shows and parade don't switch to daytime till the parties are done with...Christmas week.

Last year, This is what we did. We ate at the clastle for my birthday dinner, we were in Fastasyland about 6:45p and my girls rode Dumbo and the carousel with NO ONE else! We then went and got our photo over with at 7:00p in Tomorrowland, then we did Buzz and then headed to the Twas the night Before Christmas show. Then we went to Toontown, then we headed back toward Main Street for the fireworks at 9:15p and then stayed for the Castle show that was about 1/2 hour later, then stayed for the second parade and boom, the night was over!

It goes by so fast!

With this in mind, and considering that I am already planning to be in MK the day after Christmas, do you think it would be wiser for us to use the MVMCP to ride all my DD "don't want to miss" rides while the lines are smaller and save the shows, parades, etc., for the day after Christmas?

Also, does all the entertainment switch over? parade, Christmas fireworks, Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas and the Country Bears?

I'm not sure about the Christmas fireworks. I know the parade and special shows do switch over...Country Bears is christmas all through December so it's not exclusive to the party.

If you are going to the last party or a party on a Friday, you might encounter some lines at the rides.

I'm not sure. That's a tough question.

We are going to be at MVMCP on the 19th. Our original plan was to do all Christmas entertainment and just enjoy the atmosphere that night and try to ride DD's favorites the next day bying getting there early and using fastpasses. Now, I'm second guessing that idea. A third plan might be to see all the entertainment at the MVMCP and try to make the rides during the parade and fireworks the next day since we would have already seen them. We have been to WDW several times, so we don't care if we ride everything. DD has to do all three mountains, Pirates, Buzz and (believe it or not) the Tea Cups. I would like to see Mickey's Philharmajic (I loved it!!!!!). As long as we managed those, I think we would both be satisfied. I also wondered how the lines would be during evening extended hours for resort guests. On all of our prior trips, we have gone to MK on mornings when extra majic hours were scheduled. We managed to ride all of the "must do" rides before the park got crowded. We have never been during Christmas and have been told that after this trip we would no longer consider the park to have been crowded on our prior trips. Does it really get that bad?

Personally, that's what I'd do; I'd do your original plan and do all the festivites at MVMCP (and any rides you can fit in) and get to MK at opening the next day and do the rides you want to do.

I've never been during Christmas but I've certainly read a lot about it. Its suppose to be one of the busiest times of the year; Christmas week, Christmas day, New Year's Day, July 4, and the day after Thanksgiving are the top for crowds.

I'm sure if you plan it well with arriving early and using Fastpasses, you'll do fine.

Good luck and enjoy your planning!

I read on another thread that The MVMCP Tickets will be on sale May 1st! Just thought I'd pass it on! :cool1:

Are there special maps or handouts that will list all of the Christmas activities for MVMCP and where they are?

Yes, they will have party maps when you enter the park for the party.

The first post on this thread has all the info from last year.

Here's the map from last year.

Here's the showtimes.

Here's the list of rides open.

You seem very knowledgable about MVMCP and a Cast Member so maybe you will know more specifics. I know the park closes at 6:00 pm and the party starts at 7:00pm. So, what happens in between? Are any rides operating? Are the restaurants usually insane then? Can you go to places like Toon Town and see characters? If you know, I'd appreciate your input!

P.S. If MVMCP is scheduled for 12/18, 12/19, 12/21 & 12/22 this year, how likely is it that MK will be open late (9:00 pm or later) on 12/20 for the regular folk who don't have MVMCP tickets? Thanks!

Not sure if you are asking me but I'll reply with any help I can. I'm not a CM but I do love the parties and have been to 4 MVMCP (and 4 MNSSHP) so far and have been on the DIS for a long time! ;)

Anyway, when the park is closed for that hour, they leave one area open and there will be one counter service restaurant open and rides will be running. Then at 7:00p, everything re-opens. Yes, usually the one counter service that is kept open is insane. That's why I usually eat in a sit down restaurant for that hour.

Last year it was Adventureland/Frontierland that were kept open. Years before it was Tomorrowland.

Yes, they'll be characters dressed festive out and about. Usually Mickey's in the back of his house and Minnie in the back of her house. Sometimes you can find Santa Goofy around somewhere. We saw Christmas Belle out on Main Street a couple of times. There's no way to know where you'll find them. Just be on the look out.

Regarding Wednesday, the 20th, last year Wednesdays were the EMH night but this year they've changed them to Sundays. Also, last year Monday used to stay open till 9:00p with a viewing of Spectro and Wishes. Since they moved the Sunday parties to Mondays, I think Wednesday will stay open till 9:00p and have the Spectro and Wishes viewing like Mondays did last year. But we won't know till December hours are out.

Hope this helps.

Thanks beattyfamily for the links do they usually stay the same? The shows and times I mean?

Thank you, thank you Beatty Family for all the great insight & information. The links were great and helpful too. I think we have DH convinced that this will be a good time and even though it will be late for our kids (DS 4.5 and DD 2.5), we will be there with Grandma, Grandpa and favorite aunt and will have extra helping hands. It all hinges on hours for Wednesday 12/20 as we want to be able to do MGM in the AM and MK in the PM with a rest in between and then MVMCP on Thursday 12/21. I wish we could stay a week instead of 3 days!

They usually stay close to the same, give or take a half hour. The fireworks have always been 9:15p. The shows sometimes change by a little and the parades are usually the same but could change by 15 minutes to 1/2 hour.

Usually, after the first party, someone will post the new times...if they've changed.

Still trying to make up my mind on this. Sounds like lots of fun even for adults. We don't have kids. I guess I better make my mind up quick since they go on sale May 1. :confused3

Can't recommend it enough! We are two 20-somethings without kids (unless you count DF) and we absolutely love MVMCP...There is more emphasis on the "Santa" and "Magic" elements of the holiday, if that is a concern.
