Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

DH and I did MVMCP in 2001 and can't wait to go back. I'm hoping our DS, who will be 2.5, will be awake for some of it at least. During the day of the party, we plan on sleeping in and touring some resorts around our area. A really lazy day. I hope to try to have a nap later in the afternoon so that he'll be ready to go for the party! :) This year we brought him to a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans and he made it until midnight!

I haven't yet had a chance to read the entire thread so forgive me if this has been asked. WE will be there 11/26-12/4(my dd turns 3 on 12/6 so we had to get there one last time while she was free!). I was thinking of going to MVMCP on 11/27 in case we decide to do more than one night, but will the first night be really crowded? I didn't know if there would still be a Thanksgiving crowd or not.

Thanks

"Now, I am trying to decide if we should do the Candlelight Processional with our kids.... (The dinner package or just walk in, or skip it altogether...)"

hi we have done the candellight processional, it was ok, my kids were 3 & 6 they were bored, i liked it and dh liked it but we would not do this again with the kids. it is the real christmas story, from the bible and the singing is beautiful, but the trumpets and drums are LOUD and we did the package and the seating was less than desirable, the lights and shows at MGM were much better for our kids. hope this helps :wave2:

You helped me too! Now we may skip it or have my sister babysit so DH and I can go. Thanks! Glad I didn't waste the $$ on the dinner package yet. Now my Disney budget has gone down again! More $$ for snacks at Epcot! Woohoo. :cheer2:

We did the CP when my DDs were 2 and 5 and they did just fine and my 5 year old really enjoyed it.

Granted my kids are used to going to Church every Sunday and I think that helps but they also LOVE beautiful music and the procession in is wonderful. Its definitely not as boring to little ones as Church might be.

I wouldn't rule it out just because you have little ones.

If you are worried about wasting money, try and do it without the package then.

I can't wait for the package to go on sale and the narrators to be announced. We haven't been able to do it for awhile so I'm looking forward to it.

We're really debating whether to do this or not. My kids do well at church and going to plays (seeing Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby tomorrow!). They LOVE music (like their mom), but I'm still very unsure about doing the CP. I just don't know if they will be bored or not. Although, we went to a long Live Nativity last Christmas and they did great...

Well, thanks! Now I'm back to wondering if we should do it. Who knows when we will go down this time of year again - or when our next trip to WDW will be at all!

Just kidding - I've been going back and forth on this for so long now, what's another 4 months???

 Sorry!

If you don't think you'll be back again in December for awhile, then I say go for it. Just don't do the package if you aren't 100% sure. Play it by ear. Good luck deciding!

Isn't the CP only about 45 minutes long? That's 3/4 of a mass at our church. With lots of singing and instruments (no matter how loud), I think my kids (5 & 2) will do just fine.... especially since we're eating before the 6:45 show. And we'll still bring their fav snack just in case.

Yep, it's about 40 minutes long...

I agree with Beattyfamily.

The Candlelight Processional package is nice, but you don't have to pay to hear or see the CP.

You can hear the CP from outside the theater, too. Some people stand or sit around the American Pavilion brick walls.

The last two years the standby line was on the right side of the theater. You could enter here. Sometimes it fills up, sometimes there are several seats left empty. I guess it depends on the crowd or if it is the weekend when the locals come to enjoy CP.

You should see the paid CP package line on the left side of the theater sometimes extends all the way past Japan and Morroco...lol.

So even if there is no space inside the theater. You can listen and partially see from the outside the theater.

But I bet that you might be able to get in on standby.

I have seen the Castmembers usher standby people all the way up to the front rows where the paid customers sit to fill up space, which may not be to good for young ones, near the start of the CP.

I think your kids would love the 6:00 P.M. Epcot Christmas Tree Ceremony with Mickey and Minnie and Pluto and Goofy and Donald Duck and Chip and Dale and others. What a great way to start the evening. After the singing, they light the huge christmas tree and turn on the Lights of Winter arch which changes lights to the music.

Sometimes, after the show, I can take the boat launch on the left side of the lake that goes to Germany, and be on the standby line side of the CP and see the 6:45 P.M. CP show, too.

I say go to one of the three shows. The music and singing is a must see for me several times every year.

Sincerely, Ray

Ray...a quick question for you...are you doing a Tree Lighting on Dec 3?? It says that's the date but if I click on it, it says Dec 8. Just curious since I leave on Dec 4. Just ordered my MVMCP tickets today. Getting closer.

When is this 6:00 P.M. Epcot Christmas Tree Ceremony ??????? Is it during certain dates....these are the things I'm trying to find to go to during our dec 17-24 stay. I would be willing to even change the dates of my trip to see this!

Yes, it's daily.

While it's a nice thing to do, I wouldn't change my dates to see it. But, you won't have to change anything since it happens everyday at 6:00. There can be, and usually is, a huge crowd of people there. So, be early if you want to see the characters stage show.

Another holiday thing that a lot of people pass over are the story tellers in Epcot's World Showcase. Each country has there own 'holiday' storyteller. It is really terrific. Between them and the Candlelight Processional, we hardly have time to do the everyday stuff at Epcot!!! Just kidding, but there really is a lot to see and do during the holiday season.

I will be in the world (staying at my dads) from Dec 1 - Flying out Dec 5.

I think we will do MVMCP on Thurday night... and make sure we see the Epcot lighting etc

I am so excited. YEAH!

Now - Is there a highlights palce to sum up all of the posts in this thread? Actaully now I can kill more time at work - so that I can read all of this.

Yeah! See all of you there!

Ray Sharpton has some terrific threads where he lists what the party offered last year...times of shows, etc. Very helpful info.
