Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

beattyfamily, you've turned me into a monster filled with your knowledge. We're now simultaneously posting the same info. (and I've never been to a single MVMCP yet... but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night) :rotfl:

;) I know! I almost posted "Jinks" like my girls always say when we say the same thing at the same time!!

Can't wait! We already have our tickets in hand. We've been going since 2003 and don't plan on missing another one! Best time to go to WDW, in my opinion!

Anyone know where to get a schedule of events and a list of open attractions? I saw one a few months back from 2004 and cant seem to find it again. Help!!

Just go to post #1 on this thread!

Or children (4 and under 2) are usually in bed by 9 pm and awake before 7 am. My husband and I keep going back and forth as to whether it would be worth going to the party with them or just skipping it and making sure we do the MGM Christmas stuff at least once.

What do you suggest? The dates we could do this are 11/27 (our first day) or 11/29 (our last night there).

Our children are 6 & 3. I just finalized my payment to the travel company for tickets to MVMCP on 12/8. I am planning a good afternoon rest period for our family that day. However, our entire family is pretty much a group of night owls. Plus, they'll be excited to be doing something fun. So, I am not anticipating a problem ... but maybe I'm being unrealistic.

Hi, jbwolffiv. There is a list of events on page one of this thread.

I try to post every year what the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Guidemap says verbatem and post it on the DIS.

I keep the link in my signture below for the 2004 MVMCP and the 2003 MVMCP.

I also put the information that they hand out to you in the parks from 2004 for MK and Epcot for the two weeks of November 28, 2004 to December 4, 2004, and from December 5, 2004, to December 11, 2004.

Maybe this might help you plan some.

I'll add the MGM and AK later.

Happy planning.

Sincerely, Ray

We took our daughter when she was 13 months old in 2003. I was also worried about keeping her up late, but we rested during the day for a few hours and she was raring to go when we got there at 5pm. She managed to stay awake until 10:30 and we just pushed her in the stroller until we were ready to leave. She did manage to stay awake for the parade and to watch the fireworks. She usually gets up at 7am every morning, but the next morning she slept in until 9! We are going again next year when she is 4..I can't wait!

Ours are 5 and 2 and also usually well asleep by 9pm. Our plan for the 11/29 party is to do AK that day (which we typically finish by 2pm) and then just to hang out at the hotel, maybe grab a nap with DD. I think we will stay at the party until 10pm. I also won't count on an early start the next morning, we'll let them sleep until whenever!

Hope you decide to go. It will be our first time and the kids are already excited, especially when the tickets came last week in the mail!

On the day of the Party do you need to use up a day of park passes if you intend to enter around 6pm, or is the MVMCP pass all that is needed to enter the park?

Thanks

All you need is your party ticket if arriving at 6p. From what others say, you can enter as early as 4p on just a party ticket also.

Thanks a lot RaySharpton. That is exactly what I was searching for. I think it was your links that I used a few months back!

You're welcome. I think you are right. I remember that beautiful photo in your signature.

If you ever forget my name for a search, just look at the DIS Meets forum. I usually keep a thread on the first page with a bunch of info.

Sincerely, Ray.

We'll be doing MVMCP this Dec with DD5 and DS(almost 2). At home, he usually goes to bed around 8:30/9, but just last week for fireworks (and on other occasions), he's had no problems staying up til 10 or later. I would imagine there will be enough excitement at MVMCP that he'll do fine staying til at least the fireworks are over. We're doing it because this might be our last Christmas trip since DD will start kindergarten in '06.

Our boys will be 6, 4 and 20 months at the time of our MVMCP. They are usually in bed by 9pm and up around 7am too! Our plan is pretty much the same as others have said...having an easy day the day of the party, knowing that the excitement will keep them up later than usual (and happy, not awake but cranky and tired-no fun for anyone!), and the next day we will allow them to sleep in. This will be our first time to WDW around Christmas, and we think going to MVMCP is a must do!! :)

Now, I am trying to decide if we should do the Candlelight Processional with our kids.... (The dinner package or just walk in, or skip it altogether...)

I am driving myself crazy with scheduling and I don't even have kids!

I will be going to MVMCP on 12/4

Would anyone recommend going to AK in the morning on 12/4? I don't want to feel rushed at AK, but how much time should I allocate?

I could sleep in on 12/5 and go to AK later on....
What to do...what to do....I'm driving myself crazy and it's only July! All I know is December will be here before we know it! :cool1:

Depends how many days you're allocating to other parks. AK should close at 5pm that time of year, so you'll have plenty of time to get over to MK for a 7pm MVMCP. But keep in mind that many people claim the MK isn't as crowded during the day of a MVMCP. We're planning to do MK all day and MVMCP that night. And our other MK day is on a MVMCP day. So you may want to do MK all day on 12/4 and hit AK another day.

ccgegg,
I was thinking about what you suggested....sounds pretty good

12/4 MK in the morning
go back to WL and rest
come back for MVMCP @ 7:00

I think I will do AK on 12/3 so I won't be under a time constraint....

The party is great fun, but I am not sure it is worth it with young children. I realize that there are many who disagree with me, but I would rather spend the day at the MK when the kids are more alert and awake and able to appreciate it. Your children will be able to see the Christmas decorations and feel the wonderful atmosphere during the day and early evening.

If you want to go to the party for YOU, then by all means bring a comfy stroller and a blanket so your little one has a place to nod off while you enjoy the party! I saw many people do this at last year's MVMCP and it seemed to work fine.

If you are going to the party primarily for your children, I believe your money could be better spent on a character meal or another day's park ticket.

Just thought I would share an alternate opinion. Whatever you decide, have a great time!
