Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

This may have been answered somewhere on this VERY long thread, but I there's just not enough time in my day to search and I need to let someone know the answer ....... after December 20th (the last day of MVMCP), what happens? I mean does the special seasonal parade and the wonderful seasonal fireworks stop???? Or, do they just run every night? I have friends who plan to be there next year and they were wondering if they came down Christmas week would they still get to see all the special parades and stuff. Can anyone enlighten me? :confused3 Also, if they DO run every night, then do you NOT get to see Wishes and Spectromagic?? Help!!

It is my understanding that from the day after the last MVMCP through the end of the year, the special Christmas parade happens in the afternoon, and Spectromagic runs at night. We went to the party on the 20th, so we didn't get to see Spectromagic. :sad2: We weren't able to get around to the front of the castle to see the projected effects, but the fireworks (which we viewed from near Dumbo) were great. Your friends should still see fireworks (probably the regular wishes) during their visit.

HI Again! We remember you guys! You all were so nice to share your space with my son so he could see the parade. He has ADHD and it is hard for him to sit still, and I remember your wife being so nice and talking to him before and during the parade. Thanks for that! I am glad you said hi! and have Happy Holidays!

I remember laughing with your son because he looked liked he was having a great time. DW is a elementary school teacher and our daughter has Down syndrome so we have a lot of experience with kids (especially with our DS 3 1/2!!! never mind the terrible 2's! What about the 3's!!). A great time was had. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Happy New Year!

We were there, too! But we didn't feel rushed at all...might have had something to do with getting out of the castle from our dinner around 5:30 to 6. We grabbed our wristbands in the rose garden and headed to the Emporium for our Christmas hats...Santa Mickey, Minnie and Jester Santa Goofy. Then we went to Adventureland where it was deserted so we popped over to Frontierland, walked onto BTMRR, Haunted Mansion, grabbed some cocoa and cookies, and had our photos taken in Adventureland. Then we went in search of a friend from home who's a College CM...he was suppose to be at the Skyway with Belle and Beast...he'd been moved though so we just walked into Philharmagic, Small World. The friend called me to say he was with the Country Bears till the first parade then they'd be near Aladdin, so off we went. Sure enough, there they were riding Aladdin's Carpets with Aladdin so DH and DS got on while I talked with our friend for about 20 minutes. It was good to see him!

The first parade was about halfway through when we left Adventureland, so we headed toward Casey's to grab a spot for the fireworks...found a great one next to a couple of honeymooners and got some great shots of the castle with the fireworks. Then we just sat nearby at Casey's listening to the piano player...DH and DS both play. It was really nice! Then DS, being a teenager, was bored and didn't care about seeing the parade so we walked him to the train station and he went back to the room. DH and I went up the stairs and grabbed a great spot for the second parade. Since we had done all that we really wanted to after the parade, DH and I left for the night.

We enjoyed the party and would do it again!

We were there on the last night (12/20) and didn't think it was crowded at all!

We never waited more than a couple of minutes for cookies and cocoa (and we had plenty!). We got great seats for the parade in Frontierland only about 1/2 hour before it started.

We also did not wait more than 20 minutes for any ride, and we saw all of the special shows. We thought it was awesome and can't wait to go back next year!

Tolerance of crowd levels is a matter of perspective. What's crowded for some might not be crowded for others. Waiting 20 mins (or more than 5mins) for any ride at MVMCP is CROWDED to me, but we went on Nov 29th and walked on most rides and didn't have a wait at all for cookies and hot chocolate.

Of course, attendance is much lower during the first weeks of Dec and much higher the closer it gets to Christmas. So waiting in line 20 mins may not seem that bad compared to the larger holiday crowds (and waits) later in the month.

Again, it's all perspective.

I agree completely. :goodvibes

I just wanted to share this one photo of Holiday Wishes from 12/20...I am really pleased with the photos I took...normally don't get a chance to shoot the fireworks cause I hate messing with a tripod, but this time I did and I'm glad I did.

I found a spot near Casey's where a honeymoon couple had staked their claim during the first parade and no one else had joined them. (If you were the couple...sorry if we imposed on your honeymoon spot.) I used my mini-tripod with flexible legs...wrapped like a crane's claw around the top of the wrought iron fence and held for the shotsusing the night setting. So, I ended up with the castle, fireworks and a bit of foliage to frame the shot...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news especially since I live and breathe disney but I did not think the MVMCP was so great. Ive been to the halloween party and it was outstanding but the xmas party (12/20) didnt seem so different from the rest of the days we were there for our holiday trip!
Sorry Guys

We were there on the last night, as well, and we had a delightful time. It was me (grandma), my daughter (DD, age 45), daughter's fiancee (DF, age 43) and my granddaughter (DGD, age 14). We entered the park at 4pm with just our MVMCP tickets, and we followed the plan I had laid out in order to do a couple of attractions that wouldn't be open during the party (like Jungle Cruise). We avoided the first parade, and watched the fireworks from near Dumbo. We had originally planned to try to get around to where we could see the front of the castle for that part of the display, but decided to see Mickey's Philharmagic instead. We came out of that show just before the fireworks started. When they were over, we decided to go see Philharmagic again, while the crowd dispersed from that area.

DF is in a wheelchair, and can only transfer with all of us lifting him, so we were delighted to get to ride the wheelchair boat for Jungle Cruise (as well as It's A Small World, of course). The CMs at The Haunted Mansion were SO nice! We went there at about 6:00, and it wasn't at all crowded. They even let us go into the stretching room before taking us to the exit area to wait for the doom buggy with the side cut down to make the transfer a little easier. Many of the buggies were coming through empty. When "our" car arrived, they stopped the moving walkway, and didn't rush us about making the transfer. They also let us stay on for a second ride, since the transfer was so difficult. We also got to ride Small World twice in a row because there weren't any other wheelchairs waiting.

All told, we did Jungle Cruise, Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion (twice), Small World (twice), Philharmagic (twice), Big Thunder Mt. RR (DD & DGD), got cocoa and cookies (twice), sat at an outdoor table next to Aladdin for quite a while as we decorated ourselves with glow bracelets/necklaces/anklets, etc., watched the fireworks, had a front row seat in Liberty Square for the second parade, and topped off the evening with DD & DGD riding Space Mountain (twice), while I did some pin trading in the gift shop at the exit. Granted, we didn't have any small children with us, we ate "dinner" before we got to the park, and we chose to skip T'was The Night Before Christmas and the show in front of the castle, but we didn't feel rushed or overly crowded at any point during the evening. Perhaps we just managed to be where most of the people weren't throughout the evening. We didn't get the family photo because the lines were too long, and we only saw it snow on Main Street as we were leaving the park, but we had a fabulous time (except for it getting quite a bit colder than we had expected).

We aren't early risers, so it was nice to get to the park at 4pm and be able to walk right onto all of the rides we wanted to. We probably won't come to Disney World again for a few years, and we might try for a different time of year. However, considering that our three days in the parks were during the week before Christmas (MVMCP 12/20, MGM 12/22, & Epcot 12/23), we were very happy with the crowd level. I think it really helped that we avoided each park on its EMH day.

We were at MVMCP this year on the first day (Dec 11) of our first ever Disney vacation, a land/sea vacation. It was awesome!! We've rebooked for another cruise next December. Our cruise leaves on Saturday and we'd love to go to the Christmas party before we leave. Does MVMCP always take place on Fridays in December? And when do tickets go on sale? Thanks for your help.

I think we must have been riding Haunted Mansion about the same time...we were nearly to the attic and experienced a delay...I suspected they were loading or unloading a special needs car...and there were many empty cars...I even managed to snap a couple of pix of HM without any people in them.

We, too, skipped Twas the night before Christmas..DS, 13, just wasn't interested. We enjoyed listening to the piano player at Casey's doing ragtime versions of Christmas carols. We skipped that first parade and were glad we did when we walked DS to the gate...I spyed some empty spaces on top of the train station so we had a great view for the second parade next to a nice family from West Virginia.

We did eat in the park, but it was an early meal, 4:30 at CRT, which worked out grea for us. If we hadn't had APs that let us get in anyway, we might have skipped the meal in the park and used the time like you did to ride things that would be down during the party.

I wish you'd have been able to get the photos...ours actually turned out nice and was waiting for us when we got home. The lines in Adventureland were not long at all...CMs were standing in the walkway toward the hub shining flashlights to draw people inside for the photos.

Have a happy new year!
