What exactly does "sold out" mean? What approx. number of tix is the "cut off"? Has anyone been in the past years when it has been sold out that could give some insight? Or maybe some advice on how to make the most of the crowds?
I was at a sold-out Halloween party this year, and a not-sold-out Christmas party. To be honest, I didn't notice that much of a difference in crowds. Both were kinda strange from a crowd standpoint. In the same night, there were big annoying crowds as well as times when the major rides were all walk-on. Go figure.
Fact is, there just aren't that many people in the park. So if you see a crowd somewhere, that means someplace else is probably empty. So my main suggestion for crowd management is to move if you ever are in one. Other tips:
While there were big crowds to get free cookies in Tomorrowland, there were none in Liberty Square. While there were big annoying crowds at Cosmic Ray's, there were none at Pecos Bills. While there were huge crowds at the beginning of the parade on Main Street, things were *much* better at the end of the route in Frontierland. Notice a pattern here?
The park was near deserted (well, by Disney standards) after 11:00 if you can make it that long.
There seems to be some inconsistencies in what is open 6:00-7:00. But attraction-lines were small leading up to 6:00, and whenever the rides re-open after 6:00.
Finally, if there are lines for the free photo, consider skipping it. Is it really all that great a prize? Bring your camera and ask somebody to take your picture at one of the many scenic spots in the Park.
