Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

We're travelling from Australia to California on 8 December with our seven children especially to visit Disneyland. The Christmas party sounds great but is it only in WDW, Orlando?

There are Christmas decorations at DL, but not a separate party that I know of.

I found this description online:

Sleigh Bells Ring, Snow Falls and Chestnuts Roast at Disneyland

As its 50th Anniversary celebration continues in full swing, the Disneyland Resort has been transformed into a dazzling holiday wonderland now through January 2, featuring an unbelievable array of spectacular entertainment, amazing decorations, festive foods and favorite adventures and attractions.

The fun is extended with expanded park hours for Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure for much of the season, and Downtown Disney District and the Disneyland Resort hotels join in the merriment with twinkling lights and ornaments, special entertainment and holiday dining.

The 2005 holiday season at Disneyland is a whole lot brighter this year as the traditional Christmas tree in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. has turned gold in honor of Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary. The Disneyland tradition of a giant Christmas tree towering over Main Street, U.S.A. began in 1956. Disneyland is the last Disney park in the world to still utilize a real live tree as its holiday centerpiece in Town Square.

Glittering in gilded splendor, the tree has received the “Midas Touch” with a golden theme to commemorate Disneyland’s half-century milestone. The tree is 60 feet tall and is decorated with 10,000 golden ornaments and holiday lights. The tree’s gold topper is a symbolic pair of golden Mickey Mouse ears with the numeral “50” in the center, and is accented with genuine, hand-applied 24-karat gold leafing.

At the base of the golden tree are giant decorative gift boxes and colorful red poinsettias. The White Fir tree was harvested from the Mount Shasta region of Northern California, near the city of Redding. For its journey to the Disneyland Resort the tree was secured horizontally on a flatbed tractor-trailer and transported by a trucking company to southern California. It arrived at Disneyland on October 17 and soon began an extensive preparation and decorating process that took place in the Resort’s “backstage” area.

More than 20 Disneyland Resort Cast Members were involved in the process of preparing, decorating and displaying the Disneyland 50th Anniversary Gold Christmas Tree. The entire process for this year’s tree, from selection to installation on Main Street, U.S.A., took 560 hours.

The tree firmly rests in a planter in Town Square and is kept secure from any wind effects by four guy wires that are attached to the tree. Two guy wires are anchored to Main Street buildings and two are anchored into the ground. During the decorating process, the tree was placed in a five-foot-deep well containing 50 gallons of water. While in Town Square for its eight-week display, the tree sits in a similar well that is replenished with water every few days.

New at Disneyland this year is “Santa’s Reindeer Round-up” at Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland. The ranch has been transformed into a “West Pole” getaway where Santa can unwind with Mrs. Claus and his team of reindeer. Kids and their families can chat with St. Nick, see real reindeer grazing in a corral, play some reindeer games, create take-home Yuletide souvenirs and join in holiday line dances with music from a Western trio.

The park’s annual holiday parade, “A Christmas Fantasy,” will be presented November 18 through January 2 on Main Street, U.S.A. This ever-popular procession depicts an enchanting collection of holiday scenes, music and a cast of Disney characters and performers in Yuletide vignettes. Toy soldiers march in cadence, friendly snowmen dance and Santa waves from a soaring sleigh as his reindeer prance below.

“Haunted Mansion Holiday” returns with a madcap celebration where the traditions of Halloween and Christmas collide. The ghoulish but well-meaning Jack Skellington from the film “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” has come to the “Haunted Mansion” to transform it with his skewed vision of the holidays.

In Fantasyland, the classic “it’s a small world” again becomes “it’s a small world Holiday” with a popular seasonal overlay that transforms this classic Disneyland attraction into a holiday trip around the world. More than 300,000 glittery lights adorn the attraction’s façade.

Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary entertainment includes the all-new nightly fireworks spectacular, “Remember… Dreams Come True,” the most elaborate pyrotechnics show in Disneyland history featuring an amazing new flight path for Tinker Bell. During the holidays, “Remember” will conclude with a touching rendition of “White Christmas” as a magical snowfall gently flutters down on Main Street, U.S.A., Small World Mall and New Orleans Square.

“Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams” continues daily on Main Street, U.S.A., immersing guests in the musical grandeur and visual spectacle of this innovative Disney parade, featuring one of the largest casts of Disney characters ever assembled.

Disney’s California Adventure will celebrate the season with fanciful park-wide decorations and lively entertainment. Guests approaching the park will immediately get in the holiday mood as the iconic entrance-way letters that spell “CALIFORNIA” have been magically transformed to appear as swirling red and white peppermint sticks.

Inside a bug’s land, Flik and his bug buddies have spread giant Christmas lights, oversized ornaments and towering candy canes throughout their realm. Alongside Paradise Bay, a resplendent Christmas tree provides a dazzling sight as other nearby trees sparkle with hundreds of lights and wreathes adorn lampposts.

The Sunshine Plaza becomes “Santa’s Beach Blast,” where the Disney characters playfully blend classic holiday images with the California beach lifestyle. Santa the surfer greets guests near a Woody wagon sleigh, and the area is filled with seaside-style holiday decorations.

Everyone in your party is in one pose. A photo for each member of your party, of that one pose, is then mailed to your address.

I have read other posts where people have said that they were able to get separate poses.... Is this not correct? We are 4, and it would be nice to have a family pic and another one with just the two kids.

You can probably do this but you would get two of the family photo and two of the kids, not 4 of each.

Right - hmmm..... I guess it depends if we want to be able to give a pic to family member(s) but have a copy for ourselves, and therefore just do the one pose.

We're actually 3 tickets since one of us is 17 mths - therefore no charge admission, so I guess 3 pictures not 4, right?

In the end it's 1 total picture per ticket - perhaps you can change up the poses, but 1 ticket = 1 picture. Yes? (I don't have my tickets yet, so I don't have any info at all really on the MVMCP - just what I have read on this board).

I just called and had our MVMCP ticket swtiched to Sunday night instead of Firday night

Are you able to change the date of your tickets once you've purchased them? When I booked them Disney told me that I can't change the day we go once I gave her my credit card number....

When you receive the photos there is also an order form to order more if you need them for family members.

Yes, 1 photo per ticket.

One photo per ticket. When we go we are always told that all three of us pose together and we will get one copy of THAT photo for each ticket purchased. (When DS was 2 we got two photos after we started buying him a ticket we started getting 3 photos)

Things change depending on who you are talking to but from what I understand of the actual rules, it's one pose for the whole party and one photo per ticket. I am sure the photos are provided for persons with tickets only because they do cost money and I am sure the general rule is one pose per group so the lines move as quickly as possible. I am sure somewhere and sometimes there are exceptions made but if you are like me, you will only plan on what is guaranteed. Good luck and I hope things work out for you guys. :teeth:

Yes, you can buy them there - even at your resort. I don't think you'll have to worry about a Tuesday night selling out. Maybe we'll see ya there! ;)

Wheeee!!! Just found out that for my birthday my great friend TalkingHands is taking us to MVMCP on the 15th of Dec!!! Happy 36th Birthday to me!

I posted this in restaurant thread, no bites?!?

We have a 4 pm ADR for LTT on the 29th for 4 people. PERFECT for going to the VMCP! Sadly, though I think we must cancel. Anyone interested?

This may be somewhere in this thread, but......

When do they begin selling the MVMCP shirts? If you go early (4pm) are they available then, or only once the party begins? Are they found only at the Emporium, or are they in other places as well? Also, someone mentioned something about light-up necklaces...are these just the glo necklaces that you can get anywhere or is there something special and 'disney themed' ?

Thanks!

What do they usually look like & what type of shirts (t-shirt, sweatshirt) approx. cost? Still confused as to photos (several different areas throughout the park & where do you pick them up?). Thanks.

The party map will show you where to head to get your free photo taken. You will fill out a form with your address and they will mail you your photo(s). There are usually 5 locations throughout the park to get your photo taken at.

I would avoid Friday.

I would go either November 29 or December 1 and then if one of those nights gets rained out (only happened one year that I know of) or someone gets very ill, you can try and change your tickets to Dec 4.

Just FYI to anyone thinking of doing this..............Disney is no longer (if they ever did) doing this.

If you purchase a night and the weather is bad, you lose out.

Here is their philosophy according to a lady I spoke with in person in October at MK.

You can buy the ticket and exchange it up until the park's first closing (before the party starts). Once the party starts you are locked in because the party still happens in the rain, even if the parade doesn't go and the fireworks dont go.

The fireworks go in the rain as long as the winds are below 25 mph.

If anyone has a PS for Dec. 1 in the MK between 4:00 and 7:00 that they are not going to be able to use, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PM me and let me know.

You can change the names at Disney dining and I am in great need of a PS since they are now pretty much all gone for the evening of Dec. 1.

My wife and I are going to the MVMCP and taking two who have never been to Disney and this would be a great treat.

Thanks,

Please PM me!

If you do not have park tickets and you are only using your MVMCP tickets to gain access to the park, How early can you enter the gates?
