DAY 3:
This day we were scheduled to wake up at the crack of dawn again and go to the Lilo and Stitch character breakfast at O'hana. Reservations were at 7:50. Yeah, that didn't happen. The alarm went off and we definitely were not ready for it. When we did wake up around 8 Jay was a little sad as Stitch is his favorite character so I promised we'd make it over there before we came home.
Since I take infinitely more time than Jay to get ready he went downstairs to get breakfast at the Roaring Forks and bring it back to the room. Breakfast was YUMMY. No more Raisin Bran today folks! I had pancakes with sausage. Little tip- get peanut butter and spread it on top of the pancakes before putting syrup on. I got this tip in the 80's from a disney children's cook book. It's Winnie the Poooh style pancakes and it's a great touch. Jay had some sort of croissant/egg/cheese sandwich with hash brown which was also good. The coffee however, wasn't the best, but they need a way to get you to Kona right?

Something about eating such a big breakfast kicked us both in the stomach. At home we're slim fast people, well I am at least. So big and greasy breakfasts don't usually sit right. We decided to relax on our balcony for awhile and just take in the beauty of our resort.

Wilderness Lodge truly is a beautiful hotel. We're big advocates of the national parks. We've been to the west coast and seen a lot of the inspirations for Disney World. In fact we love it so much that we're going to
Disneyland and then out to the national parks on the west coast for our honeymoon this upcoming May
Anyway, around 10 we made our way over to the buses and had to run for it as our bus was already parked with the doors shut. This happened to us everytime for the rest of our trip. Now of course I'd rather run then wait, but by the last day with our blistered up tired feet this became a bit less appealing.
Today however, we were going to Animal Kingdom. Now I have to say, Animal Kingdom is my least favorite park, but, to each their own. Jay prefers it to MGM though. It's not that it isn't a great park it's just always hot. I mean it was 70 degrees and at the park it felt like 90. Plus the lay out of it always seems poor to me. That being said I do love the animals, the shows and some of the attractions.
As we walked through we noticed Animal Kingdom was also already decorated for the holidays. I really loved this tree most of all because of the cute animal ornaments all over it.
We took it pretty slowly today. The park was pretty empty so we didn't think we'd have to rush to the major attractions. We saw some beautiful animals on our way in. It was another beautiful morning.
We had missed Everest last Spring which was another attraction Jay had really wanted to do so this was priority. We were at the world in March when there was soft openings and the wait was up to two hours and they were out of fastpasses at 10am! This time we knew we'd be able to get on and we were ready! We made our way over, and got fastpasses. We decided to do the Maharajah jungle trek and saw some pretty cool guys.
The Finding Nemo was having a soft opening so we decided to give it a whirl. I was VERY impressed. Even Jay liked it and normally he isn't a show kind of guy (hence not liking MGM). The way they do it is very interesting. I wish I had pictures but there's no photography in the theatre. Actual actors hold up the puppets of the fish. All of the actors were extremely talented. I especially enjoyed Marlin, the act with the sharks, and the act with Crush. Crush was an EXTREMELY gifted singer and I was taken aback. The show was pretty long, as it had every scene from the movie. I would say it might have even been 45 minutes. I definately suggest going to see this show even with a wait, it's definitely worth seeing!
We were ready for lunch at this point so we split a counter service at Flame Tree Barbeque. YUM. This was the goods. Definitely get a barbeque sandwich!
Then it was time to meet the Yeti. Not the greatest planning on our parts to go right after lunch but, sometimes we let our stomachs get the best of us. Everest was AWESOME. What a cool ride. It was a little nauseating when it went backwards but other then that it was great. The yeti was scary enough to keep my eyes closed. In fact the picture they take was a little embarassing because my hands were hiding my face! I was rotating between putting my face on Jay's shoulder, covering my eyes and covering my ears.

However, a must see!
We headed over to Camp Minnie Mickey at this point to see what was going on. This part of the park was decorated elaborately and they were playing Christmas Carols. It was a little bizarre because it felt so hot outside but, still fun. We met Pluto.
And took some shots in front of the Christmas Trees.
Then we decided to see Festival of the Lion King. Another great show. We really enjoyed watching the guy twirling the fire baton but he dropped it and it went flying! After that I was a little nervous about sitting so close!!! Also the Monkey Acrobats were great. The singers were okay, the younger girl was especially talented though. We enjoyed this show very much!
At this point we decided to go over and see Pocohontas. Not a great show. If you have little ones it's definitely cute, but otherwise make a point to skip this show. It's definitely geared towards very young ones. Actually we skipped out a little early

but, we did it while ducking, I swear!
We headed over to the bar in Africa and saw the same bartender that was working there back in March. Jay ordered a rum runner and I ordered a bananna daiquiri. Note: do not order a rum runner, or anything off of that list. Jeremy's drink was about 98% alcohol. You couldn't even drink it. Well Jay did, but I told you he's my scrooge and he was getting his money's worth. Seriously though, it was the kind of drink you'd have to do a shot of if you had any chance of getting down. My daiquiri however was just right.
After finishing our drinks we decided to line up for Mickey's Jingle Jungle parade. I was so excited to see this. I had seen the pictures from last years parade and I had never seen a parade at AK before so I was really pumped. We lined up really early so we could get a seat. Then, it happened.
A cast member walked over to us and asked if it was just the two of us. We said yes and then they asked us if we wanted to be in the parade! We asked what it would entail and they told us all we had to do was sit on the float that had Mickey on it so we said sure why not. We were lead to the backstage area. It was bizarre back there! I was half expecting to see a group of characters huddled together smoking cigarettes and drinking brandy back there! But not at all. They were perfectly in character. What was most bizarre was I saw Chip get zipped up. That was very very odd and just felt wrong!
They dressed us up as elves with big christmas tree hats and red and green vests and onto the float we went. We were instructed to keep smiling and waving to everyone. Mickey was about ten feet behind us on the same vehicle. He was the big cheese, so we were the last float of the parade.
It was very cool. At first. About half an hour later we rolled out and there we were in this huge parade. Smiling. And waving. More smiling. More waving. Smile, wave, smile, wave, smile, wave, smile, wave. SMILE WAVE SMILE WAVE. The same three lines of song, Mickey saying the same line over and over and over again for 45 minutes. The same little dancing elf steppers in front of us doing the same three steps. I had everything memorized within 5 minutes. 45 minutes later we made it back to land. It was a magical experience but NEVER again. If you have kids go for it, they'll love it. As adults, skip it. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful, because it was very memorable but I don't know. Apparentely a career in parade entertainer just isn't my road to take. Jay being the performer however, had a blast. And that made it all worth it

. If anyone happened to get a snap of us that day 11/12 PLEASE pm me. I'd love to see it.
After the parade it was almost closing time but we still had time to go on the safari. We love seeing the animals. Last year we rode at opening and I would suggest doing this if possible. A lot more animals are out during the morning. I'd say we saw about 75% more during that time. Still we had a great time. I really love the safari.
At this point the park was closing and we were ready as we had had a wonderful and magical day. However it was time to freshen up as we had dinner reservations at our favorite restaurant, Artist Point and were really excited. It was time to get fresh and clean.
