Mickey's So Long Summer Cruise 2.0

Looks like 75 degrees and Sunny today in Philly:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Happy Friday Everyone!

It's 21 weeks tomorrow that I will be leaving for my pre-cruise vacation:thumbsup2

Joe, I agree! The weather yesterday in NYC was awesome. So warm I wanted to work on my tan!!!

Of course this morning leaving for work... SNOW!!

First full day of spring...yeah right!! Snow, cold, damp...this bites!

We will be off to the Great Escape Lodge on Thursday for some indoor water park fun!

I saw the trailer to Cars 2 the other day and it reminded me of my first cruise when I watched Cars in the Buena Vista Theater on the Wonder back in 2006:thumbsup2

Looks like I will be spending some time watching Pirates of the Carribean IV and this movie during my free time:)

I'm hoping this is going to be shown on the big screen at night on deck!

I'M WORKING, CAN YOU TELL?

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Family members of a 24-year-old British employee reported missing from a Disney cruise ship last week plan to meet with investigators now that the vessel has returned to its home port in Los Angeles.
Rebecca Coriam, whose hometown is Chester, England, was reported missing at sea Tuesday after she failed to report for a scheduled shift on the Disney Wonder. The ship was on a seven-day cruise along the western coast of Mexico.
Coriam's parents, Michael and Ann, and cousin, Trish Davies, spoke with reporters while waiting for the ship to dock Sunday morning.
Davies says officials on board told the family that Coriam made a phone call from the ship shortly before being reported missing.
Because the Disney Wonder is registered in the Bahamas, police from Nassau are handling the investigation.

Sad news. Every now and then life's realities even effect DCL:sad1:

I accidently book a flight to Chicago using the wrong departure time:scared1:

I thought I book it for 8:30 a.m. and picked 8:30 p.m. instead:confused:

In a panic, I booked a one way ticket so that I can get to Chicago ontime. Then I realized that I have to check in for the later flight so that I don't lose my return flight back to philly.

I'm thinking that I need to straighten this out at the airport on the day that I leave:confused3 Any advice from anyone?

I would hope that if you called customer service and explained what you did, that they could take care of this now for you...I would think that would happen often....I know it is something I would do...
good luck!

I called customer service when I discovered the error and they wouldn't help me. Instead they tried to charge me $260.00 to change my ticket:scared1:

A friend of mine book this flight a couple of days ago and the flight was almost that price:mad:

I hate the airline industry...they don't care about their customers at all....I had issues with SW once, and kept fighting it up to corporate- and at first they did nothing- then I downloaded their policy handbook, that kept talking of their mission to help their customers...once I read them that part, they credited my account!

Joe,

I would politely call, explain the human error and ask for the ticket to be changed for a loyal customer with so many options and airlines to pick from. If that doesn't work, go up the chain of command. Seriously, people are being replaced by computers all the time and this wouldn't have happened if you spoke to a real person, I would remind the agent on the phone of that. Unless they don't like working and would rather be replaced by a box.

Good Luck!

I'm getting stressed reading some of the Dream reviews...

I don't get the port boarding mess. Why some say they arrive early in the morning i.e. 10 a.m., then told they have boarding pass 40 something for 2pm! What gives? I expect to board the ship shortly after my arrival time (given a reasonable wait). Am I wrong? It is my vacation that I'm paying dearly for. Some of these wait times are shocking!

Reading about the lines to get into the restaurants at night and the wait time.

No trays to carry food in Cabanas? Hi, I have a child. I'll be running back and forth from the table to the food stations catering to her before I even see my food. Why no trays? I can't be the only parent questioning this one.

The pools/decks... there's a pic in one of the threads showing the kids on top of each other in the Mickey pool. It's awful!

Ugh, I so want this vacation. I so need this vacation. But, please DCL don't stress me out when I'm suppose to be enjoying myself. That's why we gave up on the classic ships, because they were so small. I know the Dream is a superliner, complete with super crowds but it sounds to me like there are some super design flaws.

Michele, don't worry be happy:)

You are Castaway Gold so you can request your arrival time before most:thumbsup2

Since we are seasoned cruisers we should know the best times to hit the pools when the crowds will be at a minimum. I am going to have a vacation mentality and enjoy this cruise with my DIS friends.

One last thing, nobody has taken a 5 day yet. I think the more days on the itinerary seems to result in a less stressful trip.

Joe,

I hope you're right. I really, really, really need a stress free vacation or I might kill someone!!!!!!! LOL

Have a Lovely Day!

Game changer?

There's a thread "confirming" the Magic will go out of NYC August 2012 for 8 nights to WDW, CC and Bahamas. I would do that over the Fantasy! Or the repo from PC to NYC. When is DCL going to dump Nassau??? Yeah, I know they can't, but the place is a pit!

Hawaii, Texas, Seattle for Mojo!

What's everyone thinking?

I think these new itineraries will hurt the Dream and the Fantasy in 2012 based on their inflated prices!

The price for NYC is high, but we'll save on air. Gosh, I will actually enjoy taking Amtrak to NYC for one trip! LOL

I am excited for NYC, but wasn't thrilled about the itinerary...can't wait to see the prices-- was hoping that when I am on the dream that I may book the magic out of NYC... I hope they offer a nice variety....

I feel the same way! I am trying to stop reading all the reviews as they are really getting me to doubt this trip...I saw that pool picture too:scared1:
I know our cruise is a full one, so even if you are a seasoned traveler, I don't think you can avoid some of this chaos...as for the port issue-there is no way I am going to spend all day waiting at the port- especially when you hear of so many cruisers just getting what they want by complaining, not doing online boarding- not to mention the conflicting stories that you get when you call DCL....I think I need to stop reading the threads!

I know i said I would stop reading the main thread but.......
I do kinda like the 2 day cruise to nowhere idea...could be a great girls getaway!!

wondering-- would we get a discount for being NY residents?
