Mickey's So Long Summer Cruise 2.0

Is it just me or would any of you still cruise on the Magic or the Wonder if the ports were interesting:confused3

I believe that once I get my exposure to the new ships that I might prefer the wonder or magic if they continue to maintain them and spruce up the cabins a bit.

Anybody with me:)

Joe

I'm torn. I love the superliners. So much to do!!! So many bars to hit!!

I checked US Airways site and I have enough miles to get a free ticket to Florida for the cruise:banana::banana:

I really need to stop using that credit card:rotfl:

Joe

I hope everyone had a great weekend:thumbsup2

Who's curious to see if any surprises will come out with the itineraries:confused3

New York would be great:banana::banana::banana:

I have been hoping for NY, but from what I have read on other threads, if the Fantasy comes to NY, the cost will be too high...NY port fees are higher than FL, I guess .... some say it will be cheaper to fly down to PC rather than sail from NY.
Michele-- who would have thought that NY would be too expensive?!?
NY always finds a way to burst my bubble!

...I will remain hopeful though...

Maybe the Magic will come to NY:confused3

Also, why are so many people freaking out about ressies for 2012:confused3

It's the same ports with a new ship. I may be going in 2012 but since I did the Eastern, I probably will do the Western. This time I'm not rushing to put money down for a bigger ship going to the same places.

I was hoping for something more exciting too!

However, with that said MSLS 3.0 starts booking tomorrow for us gold members. DCL already has my "deposit" for the Fantasy. I have a dummy date booked on the Dream (yeah, 2 Dreams) that I'm moving. So it's painless not having to forkover any cash.

We're doing the August 18, 2012 western. I'll call it the Mexican double dip. We were on one of the few DCL cruises who made it to CM before Hurricane Dean destroyed it. There's not much to do there, it's a beach day in my book, nice pool and stretch of beach. It's very rustic and truly Mexican. But, the scenery is beautiful. I will say it's not for the faint of heart.... the ship pulls up the dock sideways with the open Gulf behind her. That boat tossed like the S.S. Minnow on a three hour tour. People were running to get off! They were seasick at the dock. On shore, the ship was surrended by Mexican soldiers with machine guns. The dorks were taking pictures with the tourists! Wow, did we feel safe, not. CM had a huge port pool, it was really neat. That's where Mikayla learned to swim. I would give her $2 to swim across the pool to the bar and buy Mommy a bottle of beer. What? They were plastic bottles and wouldn't break. And, for those of you who know my el-sharko story it happend in CM.

Will I keep the Fantasy, don't know, but I'm booking it. I'm betting it will be $3,330 to 3,500. That's a lot of money. I wish our Dream cruise was 7 days instead of 5, if it was I wouldn't give the Fantasy a second look!!

Our friends Mike and Tara (cigy7) are on the Magic right now. They're doing the western. They're interested in booking too.

Audrey (4everluvsdisney) and I exchanged many emails this morning plotting our plan of attack for tomorrow! LOL!!!

In other cruise news... The Disney store will open in Times Square in November. Over the weekend they took down the construction walls and lit the sign. I could look inside, it does look neat!!! I'll grab some pictures next week.

OBTW... as of today I have lost 50 pounds!!!

Michelle,

Congratulations on the 50 pounds:banana::banana:

My DW is going to wonder what's going on with our group. We will be booking the 10/18/2010 Western. Probably won't book until early next year though.

We selected this date because of the itinerary and the date since my daughter has to be back for college.

50lbs...good for you!
If we did the Fantasy, it would be a western- we have never done that. I can't wait to find out what the rates will be-- being a family of 5, it can be pricey without a good deal. My kids would kill me if we did not do the dream, but I am also bummed about it being only 5 days- I thought 7 days was short on the Magic!
Ideally, I would love to do a Meditteranean cruise in 2012.... time to get the lottery tickets!

Let us know how you make out tomorrow, Michele!

Drum roll please:

Booked August 18th for Cat. 6B
2 adults and 1 kid, 10
$4017.00 with 10% onboard rebooking. No transfer or insurance. $150 OBC. This was my dummy Dream date. Did I mention this price includes the 10% onboard rebooking discount!!!

Damn this is expensive! I'll have to lie to Big E about the price. $4k for a cruise? He will say NO!!!!

I think after the Dream in 2011 we're jumping ship to Carnival or Royal. This is crazy money to spend when you add in WDW and air!!!

Looks like I will be looking more at the 5D's instead of the 4D's for that cruise and maybe flying in just for the cruise and going home:)

I will also look at the next western cruise closer to September. Take my daughter down to college to unpack, do the cruise and then take her back before school starts.

Wow-- that's so much for August...is that a western? We may try RCCL instead in the future- I hear they have great stuff for older kids, for less money. I don't know much about other cruise lines.
Hope you can keep the date!

If I book my own rooms online. Can I transfer the reservations to DU and still get the onboard credit:confused3

I know that you could do that in the past but I can't remember if it still can be done.

I like to pick my rooms. Every time I asked them for something, it takes a couple of times for them to get it right.

It is western. RCCL is great with plenty for the older kids. Carnival is great too. I would go on either one again.

Yes, you can transfer any reservation at anytime and keep your credit, I always do it. I shop around for the best price or book on board then "sell" it to a TA who will give me more OBC. Yeah, I'm that good. I usually walk on the ship with $300 to $350 in OBC!

Ok... here's the best line of the night...

I now have TWO Fantasy 2012 cruises booked and one Dream 2011.

August 18, 2012 I booked this morning, then I realized the August 25th was a lot cheaper... so now I have two.

After talking to the MSLSC crew we're all jumping ship to the 25th so more of us can go since it's "affordable".

I will cancel the 18th.

FYI the 25th was $3,534.30 with my discount. That's a savings of $687.00 for booze or blue diamonds.

It's good to be Gold and beat the masses!!!

Yup, I'm crazy!!! But, I would have it no other way!

Good for you!! that doesn't seem too bad for a 7 night cruise.....you can be my TA any day!

Hello all,

So I won't be making it on the Dream in 2011, but booked the Fantasy for Aug. 25, 2012! Who else besides the Bakers are joining us? Would love a reunion with the MSLSC gang. DH can't believe I booked us for 2012!!! Booked at Cat 5E, love my verandah.

Check out the Mickey on the bow of the ship... the crew pool?

I don't think its anything but a disign that they will paint black. I think that I have seen it with the model.

I still haven't book the Fantasy yet. DW is still considering the Fantasy even though it will be almost $800.00 more:scared1:
