Mickey's PhilharMagic & other stuff

Hey there! I have a question about wishes and Mickey's PhilharMagic. Well, due to a trauma in my childhood, I am very bad about fireworks, explosions, ect. Does Mickey's PhilharMagic have any large explosions or extremely loud noises or fireworks? I can sit through the last part of Soarin if I cover my ears to block out the sound, so it would help if you could compare the noise level to that. Also, how long is wishes and how loud? If I duck inside our hotel (port orleans riverside near downtown disney) how clearly will I be able to hear them? Any suggestions for what else I might want to avoid with fireworks or explosions?

Quite a problem! Really, there's loud noises everywhere at WDW. You just can't plan to avoid them all. Have you considered earplugs? My husband gets some at work to filter out background noises, just allows "normal" noises to be heard. If you'd like I'll look at the label and find out the brand and how to order them. That might be better than ducking for cover every time you hear a loud noise! Hope you have a great first trip!

Thanks! Looking at the lable would be helpful, yes. Um, is Illuminations just once a night? Or is it a repeated show? Does anyone know the length of wishes either? I have so many questions!

YOu cant hear any of the fireworks from POR. You are closer to Illuminations than to Wishes from there too. Actually I think you asre closer to the PI fireworks there.

Anyways, thanks a lot for contributing! This has helped put my mind at ease. If anyone minds answering the other questions, that would be great as well! I just know that if I'm not freaking out, I'll be able to keep my mind more on the magic of disney.

PI is Pleasure Island and they have a short fireworks show every night at Midnight. One of the comedians at The Adventures Club ( on PI) likened it to 2 guys with sparklers and confetti

PI fireworks are fireworks at midnight at DownTown Disney's Pleasure Island - when we went we stayed at POR and I dont recall hearing any loud noises!!

Philharmagic doesnt have loud fireworks like Soaring - it does have lots of loud music in which Donald is conducting the orchestra - like Fantasia (sorta, kinda, not really!!) at the end I think there is one little bang - similar to the 3d Show at MGM with the Muppets, but not as long/loud.... I think...

Do get the yellow soft ear plugs - WalMart sells them just a couple of bucks - my eldest ds 20 has horrible problems with fire crackers/ loud explosions (like when they start the track meet and shoot the gun off - he'd be on the line with his fingers in his ears!!) Someone gave him a box FULL of these earplugs - he LOVES THEM - swears by them!! Keeps a pair in his pocket at all times now!!

Thank you all so SO much! You have no idea how much I truly appreciate this! All of this is wonderful - I'll be sure to get some of those earplugs! And now I can just concentrate on my vacation and not the fireworks!
