We just booked yesterday :cool1: I'm soooo excited! Our first cruise! We're going to be in stateroom 7120.

Anyone else on this cruise?

Hayley,

We're in stateroom 7068!!!! I was wondering if you could revise your first post and list each person who is going (maybe their disname and their real name-first names are fine) (and maybe stateroom if they post it or want to share) so we can get to know who all we are crusing with.

If you don't know how to revise your post, I can help you.

What a good idea!! I'll get right on it :)

Post your stateroom and your group's names here and I'll add them on :teeth:

I have a feeling this is going to be a good thread!!

2/24 Edit: Right, a list of everybody on this cruise!! Post your Group's names and your stateroom here and I'll add them to this post!

Dawn,

I can't agree more. It is so much fun getting to know each other before the cruise. I think it will be awesome to actually 'know' someone on the ship. Maybe we can plan a meet for sometime on the ship. I am so excited and cannot wait for September to get here!!!!!

Dolphingirl47 (Corinna) and Graham. Stateroom 2068.
It was our 10th anniversary this month, but somehow we never got around to celebrate it properly so we will make up for this with the cruise. I really want to add the REAS package. By the way, does anybody here know the answer by any chance? We booked our cruise with DVC points. Do we book the REAS package through Disney Cruise Line or through member services?

Corrina,

Welcome aboard!!! The more the merrier. Sorry, but I don't know the answer to your question. Maybe someone else on board here will.

Welcome aboard!! Another UK cruiser! :)

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer either - but I do know I'm excited for the REAS myself!! :teeth:

Happy 10th Anniversary!

Just curious- what's the REAS? :confused3

Thanks for the answer. Guess I won't be needing that! Maybe I can FIND a little romance at sea? ;)

Well, it's official! I put my deposit down today!!!! :yay:   :yay: So, if we could please be added to the list, that would be great. :goodvibes It will be me, my DD who will be turning 10 during the cruise, DS6, and possibly my mother. We don't know our stateroom number yet. Let the planning begin!!

I have never been on a cruise before. Anybody have any good tips that I should be aware of? Something you wish you knew the first time you cruised?

Thanks!
Traci

Welcome aboard Traci. It's so exciting when it's official and we put that deposit down. What a special way to spend your child's birthday.

Hi, everyone, and welcome TLP. I'm sure your Disney Cruise knowledge is already growing by leaps and bounds.

I'm back from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Amazingly, our flight was not significantly delayed or canceled due to weather-a real possibility. The only time I thought we were going to have a problem was when the cabin began to fill with what looked like smoke. This happened while we were still on the ground, and it turned out to be the result of the de-icing crew accidentally spraying de-icing fluid into the air conditioning system. No biggie. The air cleared, the crew finished and we left.

As for the experience of being in Bay St. Louis in its post-Katrina condition, all I can say is it was what I expected in some ways but not in others. Since my husband, along with a team from our church, had been down there in November, I had already seen recent photos and heard stories from him and the volunteers. But, pictures and secondhand stories didn't prepare me for meeting the survivors, hearing their conversations, and looking into their eyes as they told their stories. Have any of you been down that way since the Hurricane? Are any of you from the area? If so, you know what I mean. What happened in August of 2005 is not over for the people who are rebuilding their homes, their lives and their spirits. If you want to see where I went, check out www.lagniappechurch.com .

On another topic, we have stayed at both the Radisson and the Residence Inn. We liked them both. If we weren't staying with my mom the night before the cruise, I'd have a hard time deciding on which one to book. I've never stayed at the Comfort Inn, but that name seems to be popping up a lot these days, too.

Yazee, it sounds like you had a powerful experience. Your right, nothing can prepare you for experienceing first hand the destruction of a huge hurricane like that. It is completely diffrent than seeing it on TV. I don't know any Katrina survivors but I will tell you that I lived in Ft Lauderdale when hurricane Andrew came through and I was also here for all four hurricanes in 2004. Hurricane Charley's destruction started litterally one mile from my home. I was lucky but my best friend was not. He lived two blocks from Charlotte Harbor where the storm came ashore. I stayed on the phone and BEGGED him to leave. FINALLY, he left about 45 minutes before the storm hit. He went to his mom's house in Arcadia. It seems Hurricane Charley followed him right up the road. He said the windows were being sucked in and out by the storm. He heard the front door start to go and ran to hang on to it. The hurricane sucked him and the door outside. By the grace of GOD my 6'4 230lb friend made it back inside the house. When the storm was over his mom's house had servere roof damage. I met him at his house and his house didn't fare much better. The hurricane was very close to ripping the whole roof off. He was in so much shock he had no recollection of me even being there. For over a month he had no electricity and there was a curfew in place enforced by the national guard. You either got indoors or got out before dark. I use to bring him a hot dinner every night since he had no way of cooking anything. I'll never forgot traveling to his house and passing by a trailer park that was completely destroyed. One moblie home looked like a pile of sticks and there was a little old man, around 80 or 90ish stareing at was obviously his home in disbelief. There was nothing of it to be salavaged. It has been 4 years now and my best friend moved to another state. I know they just recently finished one of the schools that was destroyed. The rebuilding process takes a long long time.
