You know Patricia, I totally understand how you feel on the bathing suit situation. I have giggly thighs and flying squirrel arms (I have so much flab that if a good wind blows I get blown back two feet.....I think if I flapped really hard I could probably take off in a good gail!) I have decided though I'm going to have fun anyway no matter what anyone else thinks!;)

boy do I understand what you mean. it seems the harder i work on the arms, the more flab i notice (i think the tops getting tone, a tiny bit, and that makes the bottom look more flabby)!!!

May I remind the two of you not to worry about what you look like in a bathing suit because no one cares about what other people look like because they're they're too busy thinking about what they look like. Now that I've done that, maybe I can convince myself of the same. LOL. Besides, the worse we look, the better other people feel about themselves. Isn't that nice of us to help other people feel better about themselves and make the world a happier place.

That being said, I detest shopping for or wearing a bathing suit. I don't like shorts either.

Dawn, that woman with the gator in her house reminds me of our friend who had a goat get into his house. It's was the neighbor's goat who was always going astray. Goats make more of a mess in a house than alligators but I bet it's easier to get goats out of the house, and you don't worry about being mauled or killed in the attempt or where they are lurking once they're gone. When my mom moved to Spring Hill, Florida 24 years ago, there were lots of gators in her area. Not anymore.

The joke at our house is "Why did the chicken cross the road?" Answer: Because Leah (dd) left the gate to the chicken pen open this morning.

We haven't told the kids we're going on a cruise without them yet. I'm thinking we'll do the good news/bad news thing soon.

Monica, you made me laugh so hard. I am so glad that I'm doing a service in the world. :rotfl2:
I always thought goats were cute but I wouldn't want one in my home! I use to worry about a racoon coming in our house through the kitty door but that hasn't been an issue.
Tonight we are having a huge picnic, swimming in the pool, and going down and watching the parade all at a friends house. We won't be home till late all worn out from the fun. Everyone have a great Saturday!

Monica,

Oh my goodness, I too was laughing. I guess you are so right, we are all worried how bad we look, we dont' care what others look like. I hope the kids are excited about going to grandma's house. Maybe 'not' telling them you are doing a Disney cruise wouldn't hurt, lol. I know my kids are a bit annoyed that we would do this without them (reminder, one will be a senior in high school and told me he couldn't take a week off for disney, other is a junior in college and can't take off). I wish we could take everyone with us, but we are struggling to just take us two.

Dawn,

Hope you had a good time this evening. Everyone enjoy your Saturday!

We had a good time last night. Lots of Pirate floats and the kids made out with more bead necklaces then a neck can hold. I wish I would of thought a little more ahead and brought some cash. The vendors had lots of pirate stuff to sell and I would have loved to have gotten some swords that light up for the pirate party on the cruise. The kids also swam for hours in my friends pool so by the end of it all I had exhausted children. We all didn't even get up until 1030 this morning. :rolleyes1
I hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Dawn,

sounds like you guys had a great time. That's awesome. It's chilly (cold) here today, considering we were upper 70's the ohter day and today it's just 50, brrrrr. Have some various house items on my agenda for the day, so I better get moving here.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

I hope everyone had a good Sunday! I spent the last two hours trying to figure out how to insert pictures on here so I could show you how my landscaping is turning out. I just cant figure out the whole http thing. Ah well, you'll just have to imagine how great it looks. ;) I spent some more of my children's college funds on some more edgeing but at least it looks nice. We just have to get some more stones to fill in and a few more plants and we'll be done. My mother graciously offered to pay for the stones because I'm sure it will end up being a small fortune. Today was SO hot! If you would like to know what you were missing....just turn on the broiler in your oven to experience the heat and start a hot shower to get the humidity and then it will be like you were right here! Personally, I wish Patricia would share some of her 50's. The other thing I did today was help my son with his project on Nikolav Tesla (intentor of radio). How did you ladies not kill your children???? He is trying to master his ability to act stupid but he doesn't seem to understand that since I gave birth to him....I know how smart he is. He can't hide it. Once you have seen Clark Kent dress as superman....you always know superman is Clark Kent! It was all I could do not to start throwing paper wades at him today! I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Dawn,

If you would like, I can 'walk you through' putting your photos on here. Just pm me and let me know whats the best way to help you (i.e. instant message, email, phone (i have tons of minutes on my cell, so not a problem to call florida).

Sorry I can't share our temps though. It's been so chilly and damp. brrr.

Eek! I was watching Extreme Makeover: Home Ed the other day, and the family were on the Disney Wonder! Plus DBF's parents got a postcard this morning from their friends who are on a cruise, and they said they were parked next to the Wonder in Nassau! We are so excited now!!

I am trying to diet starting today, along with the Wii Fit board, so we will see where I get with that! It told me my BMI was less than favourable...oops!

Hi, ladies! It's Monday afternoon. Soggy & chilly out this past weekend. No better today. Looking on the bright side of that, if it had been nice out, I would have resented the fact that I had no time to enjoy it! Instead, we're all working like the ants preparing the winter. It's a good thing we enjoy work, too. LOL. Next weekend should be better, dh and the kids are going to PA to celebrate my nephew's birthday. That will be fun for them. I can't go because I'm scheduled to work Sunday afternoon. If I'm stuck in MD while the family's away, I might as well ask my supervisor if there's work to do on Saturday as well.

Dawn, your explanation of Florida weather is right on the mark. No offense but I never want to live in Florida. My mom's been there for 24 years. Nice to visit, wouldn't want to stay.

Dawn, I don't know if it helps, but there are occasional days I threaten to put the kids on the big yellow bus and send them to government school if they don't put more effort into their work. Usually, it's not their fault. I just am expecting too much. I know some kids will dig their heels in and act like they don't "get it" because they just don't want to do whatever it is they're being assigned to do. I always think about this family on the Autotrain. On the way back from our last cruise, we were on the train with a boy, about 11, who was insisting he didn't understand his grammar assignment. We could hear the whole exchange (tug of war) with his mother and him. They got louder and louder and whinier and whinier. I could tell he was trying to wear her down so she would let him off the hook. Not knowing the family, I can't say much more than that's my opinion of what was going on in that particular situation.

Well, I need to get back to work! I've got a whip to crack. ;)

What's the Wii Fit board? We have a Wii and it's in my "gym" (aka bedroom). I always thought the Dance Dance Revolution looked aerobic. LOL

Monica, that is exactly what Christopher tries to do to me.....wear me out. It never works for getting him off the hook but I do get very frustrated. He just about failed this last quarter simply from not turning in his homework. :headache: I told him if he brought all his grades up to A's and B's this last quarter he could pick out a Disney park for us to go to and I'd take him as part of a celebration. I have gotten daily reports from him as to his grades and he has actually taken the initiative to start his home work in the evenings. Now, this has been just since this weekend but progress is progess. I'm very proud of him. :yay: Hopefully he keeps it up through the rest of the quarter. I haven't killed him yet and this is always a good sign.

I remember a few months back some people were asking if they should get a passport. Here is a great story to emphazie why you shold have a passport and trip insurance. http://www.wftv.com/news/15998021/detail.html
I just feel empathy for the family.

Dawn,

I just read that too. I have my info printed, but haven't gotten the photo or sent for them. Got to do that this weekend (passports). Definately got the insurance this trip. Typically we dont' for just Disney, but cruise, no way was I chancing that.

I read the thread and the article last night, and I was just about to look at the thread again, for entertainment value. Specifically, I want to see who jumps on the person who posted that trip insurance was a waste of money and a gamble since one in a hundred (or thousand?) will actually need to use their benefits and that of the people who do make a claim, many claims aren't paid due to loopholes in the policy.

I haven't bought our insurance yet. The last two times, we bought some flavor of Travelex through insuremytrip.com .

The other night, I was doing an inventory audit at Hollisters. I'd never been in there before. There was a huge tv or movie screen showing people at the beach. I thought it was some kind of loop, but it was real time and it was broadcasting from Surf City! Have you ever been in a Hollister and seen this? I guess I don't get to the mall very often.

Monica,

I heard about these companies before. Are they cheaper than getting your insurance through Disney? We didn't get the insurance on our extended portion of our trip (since we added that on separate), but due to September being hurricane season, I'm wondering if we should look into that?

I wasn't going to get trip insurance.....I was being optimistic. :cool2: My mother talked me into it though and we bought trip insurance through the insurance website listed on here. The same one Monica mentioned. It was definitly cheaper then we would have gotten through Disney. I noticed though that the longer you wait to buy it the more expensive it is. We could of saved over a hundred dollars if we would of bought it within 15 days of booking our cruise. Patricia, if you already have trip insurance maybe it wouldn't be much more to add on the new leg of your trip to your existing insurance? :confused3 I worked for Disney when hurricane Floyd came through and closed the park for the first time ever. If I remember correctly, they evacuated some of the lower lying resort rooms to some of the convention centers. I'm not sure how that would work with the trip insurance to get your money back if your still on property? :confused3 It is unlikely anything will happen but you never know and I guess the old adage is true "better safe than sorry".
I hope everyone had a good Tuesday. I ran into some very cranky people today but I decided I wasn't going to let their attitude change me into one of them. :sad2: :wizard: :) Have a great day tomorrow!

The Wii Fit is this: http://e3nin.nintendo.com/wii_fit.html

I'm not sure if it's out in the States? But, it's really really good and has really motivated me to lose some weight. It works out your weight and BMI and balance, etc. and then you can do some training exercises like yoga, muscle exercises, aerobic exercises (step, hula hoop, jogging, etc.) and balance exercises - your Mii does most of the stuff on screen.

I've been doing some stuff everyday and also eating a lot more healthily (since I didn't want that exercise to go to waste!) and I've lost over 4lbs since Saturday - I'm really pleased with that!! It doesn't feel like your exercising at all as it's so much fun

I feel so technologically unadvanced....we don't have cable, the one tv we have is 25 years old and to old have any wii or playstation hooked up to it, and we have no digital camera. Just call me dark ages Dawn.
