How much should we budget for this store? Is there enough exclusive stuff that we are just going to need? How are the prices?

Getting geared up for our BSM trip in three weeks!! Thanks!

Hi DisneyCruisin' -

I went on the Backstage Magic tour in April and lovvvvved Mickey's of Glendale. They had a lot of unique items, with WDI and Imagineering logos, that are not found anywhere else. But also, the prices were fabulous - a sweatshirt for $25? t-shirts for $16? unheard of for first-run Disney items.

There were some in our group who literally spent over a thousand dollars , and I modestly spent a few hundred. For me, this was the best shopping for the trip - the most variety, choices and unique items. I would plan on spending the most here during your trip, followed by Club33, if you all are able to go there.

I would also HIGHLY recommend you pack a shipping box in your luggage with postage/fees to get back home for what you may buy. You can usually pack them flat in your luggage. The Grand Californian has a business office that offers only one courier service, but if you had a prelabeled box they would be able to get it to the courier for you.

Have a wonderful time!

It is how much you are wanting to spend. The sky is the limit! :yay: As the other poster stated, there is alot with the Imagineering logo that you can't buy anywhere else. The inventory is big...jackets, sweatshirts, t-shirts, writing tables, clocks, watches, pens, pins, mugs, I bought a car windshield sun screen, little things, big things. You only have a certain amount of time based on what is going on that day. They push a little because you still have to go to the Disney Studios and then get through LA traffic to Disneyland. Also know, that people have to get thru the cash registers (only a few) so while some are checking out, you can keep shopping a bit. There are items that you can buy in the parks. Bypass those until you have gone through the Imagineering related items. Time flies in there! It's fabulous!

You also have a little shopping at Disney Studios. (Not alot of inventory, but something to get as a souvenir like a shirt or a pin.) Go to the shop to the left within the building. The right is the Disney Store.

Have a magical time! Your in for an amazing treat!!!!

I was on the same trip as Carolinagal (hi Lynne:wave2:) and I think I spent the lest amount of money at MOG. I spent $98.01. I bought a sweatshrt, T-Shirt and some pins. I think the most spent was $1800.00. Now I spent more money at Club 33. A Polo shirt was $65.00. I got a Polo shirt, Cub 33 pin & Key chain, plus a Club 33 Christmas pin.

Well, that depends on how insane you are. I spent $1800 there in April. Now, granted, I was buying for our team back here in Orlando who didn't get to experience that particular trip, but there's plenty to buy there. Most of it is 'logo' merchandise you won't be able to purchase anywhere else. My suggestion for Mickey's of Glendale is this: If you see it, if you like it, BUY IT. You may not get a chance to do it again (unless you're me and are going back on that tour again in 3 days :) ).

I don't think I'll spend that much moolah Pete - but I'm sure I will drop over $100 in there!! Thanks for all the info guys and gals!!!

I was on the April trip too! (Hi all! :wave2:)

I just want to offer one piece of advice. If you find something at Mickey's of Glendale, Disney Studios, or Club 33 that you think you may want, but you are kind of on the fence on it; buy it.

It is really stupid, but I put back a $10 umbrella at Mickey's of Glendale. I have been kicking myself ever since. I have looked for it on the internet wondering if possibly someone is reselling stuff like that, but to no avail. If you do end up buying something that you wonder about later, SOMEONE will want it. regift it or resell it.

So, try to keep it in perspective. You have already spent thousands of dollars, if you spend a bit more on souvenirs, will it really matter? :)

Buy the umbrella. You won't be kicking yourself later!

I'm leaving tomorrow for another BSM trip, and I'm under threat of death from Walter if I even consider spending more than a few hundred at MoG. That might require sitting outside the store in a straight jacket with an IV of morphine.

Can't wait to doing a little shopping about MoG's! :thumbsup2 The problem I'll have is doing all this shopping in 30 to 45 minutes. :scared1:

Crossing fingers that we'll be able to do a little shopping at Club 33 as well. ;)
