Hello Everyone....

I know that I saw a few posts on this... can anyone give me a quick rundown on the MIckey's not so scary halloween party.

My husband and I and our two children are planning to go.. However, My sis-in-law and her family and my sis-in-law's sis and her family are planning to join us. However, they are asking me to get the info on it. I am basically planning the whole trip for everyone. We have been to disney 5+ times. This will be are 1st time as DVC members. However I have never been to the Halloween event. So basically I want to make sure that I get all of the info before they go and purchase tickets.

Can anyone fill me in...

Do most of the kids dress up???
Is there trick or treating? Do we have to supply trick or treating bags? (I know this may sound silly, however I have to pass all of this info on to 2 other families)

Any other info on this would be most helpful

Thanks

Macagno,

Most of the kids do dress up. It isn't required though. Just something fun for the kids to do.

I believe they do provide Trick or treat bags there. They did two years ago when we went.

There is trick or treating. It is very fun and the rides are a virtual walk on.

Not to hijack, but is it good for a preschooler?

Do the adults dress up? If so, would an adult feel out of place not dressed up?

This is our 5th year attending MNSSHP.

MOST children are dressed up. A good number of adults are dressed up. My husband and I have never dressed up, just the kids, and we have not felt out of place. However, if we did dress up, I wouldn't feel out of place either. There are adults without children who dress up.

They do give bags for trick or treating. There are many stops throughout the park to get candy. The park is decorated for Halloween. Scarier music (but not too scary) is playing. Characters will be dressed up in costumes. NO AUTOGRAPHS that night though. Smaller celebrations happening around the park (games, dancing, etc.). Special fireworks. Halloween parade, which is based around the villians. Headless Horseman starts the parade. Complimentary pictures are taken of your family.

They sell a limited number of tickets for each night. Rides are walk on and if you stay late into the night, you can usually just stay on a ride and continue riding if you'd like.

This is just a good basic start of info...if you have specific questions let me know. We love it.

As for a preschooler, I would definately do it. It is a long night, so you either make sure you take a later nap and have a not so busy morning, or know that you might not make it through the whole evening. I've seen many preschoolers getting the biggest kick out of dancing with Lilo and Stitch!

MNSSHP evenings do sell out. Book soon.

When we went 6 years ago there was no such thing as Lilo and Stitch....they are my ds (2) and dd (4)'s favorites. Where do they do dancing with them?

There is a stage very close to Space Mountain in Tomorrowland. This is where they do the dancing. I can't remember if Lilo and Stitch were the ones out there with the kids before, but for sure they were last year.

Also in Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe, across from the Indy Speedway, there is something going on in there. DJ playing music and games with the kids.

My mother and I took my dd two years ago. My dd went as a UT cheerleader, and she loved it. My DM and myself did shirts. We went to the Fashion Bug and bought some cute halloween tee's. My dm's shirt had a skull and cross bones on it and said " I dont do costume's" Mine was and orange shirt with a prissy black rhinestone spider on it, and it said Happy halloween. The did give out treat bags. It was great. We got pics of my dd with Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween costume's. Crowds are low, and rides are wide open. It was a great night with my mom and my daughter. I would gladly pay the price of admission again. The memories of that night I will treasure forever!

Bonus!!! We got a free picture taken. They take a free picture of your party and mail it to you. The picture border is is Black and Orange and says Mickeys not so scary halloween party 200X

There is a "sticky' thread at the top of the park/strategies board. Baloo has compiled a ton of info about MNSSHP. I have copied and pasted a few pages of info to take. We'll be at the party on 9/30. I think you'll probably find jsut about everything you need to know there.

We went two years ago with a 2.5 and a 5 year old. We all had a great time. Have a wonderful free photo from the party.

The 2.5 year old had a great time. He loved the parades. Also he got to dance with Stich. I did not realize how popular Stich was until that exact momement. The kids went crazy for him. There are three or four places in the part where they have special events.

see debs page and the listing here for all of the details.

We are going again this fall.

No autographs. I didn't know that. My 4 yr old is going to be upset. Do they pose for pictures?

Thanks!

We definitely got some autographs last year for MNSSHP on Halloween night. We've also gotten autographs at MVMCP.

Yes, there are characters out and about for photo opps.
