Does anyone know if Disney has released party dates for mickeys not so scary Halloween yet? If not does anyone know if they usually do those parties on certain days of the week?

Dates will be released a few months from now.

Sept. & Oct. typical days:
Sun. Tue. Thu. Fri. Sat.
But, they can change by the week.

:welcome: to the DISboards, KGrogan!

Kenny The Pirate has projected dates for the parties, starting in late August of 2018, however, these are not official, and so could prove to be wrong, but they are about the best you can do at this point.

Ok. We planned a trip for Disney 3 nights. Two full days at the magic kingdom. Really hoping one of those nights won’t have the Halloween party. We would like to see the normal firework show at least one night. My kids are a little small for the Halloween party I think

How old are your kids?

We are going to Disney in October and plan on going to the Halloween party. Our son will have just turned 5 when we go but he is kind of a night owl.
I think my 5 year old will be fine. It’s my 3 year old I’m worried about. I just hope they don’t do the party both night we’re there!

I’m going to Disney World the first week in October.
Do they really schedule MNSCHP Fridays and Saturdays ?
I hope not because then they will close the parks at 7 pm.
Friday and Saturday is when the MK is usually open late.

Great, thanks.

Has anyone gone to MNSSHP in 2017?

Friends of our went end of August and said it was so crowded. They said the line for candy was 30-45 mins and the line for Jack and Sally was 2 hours.
They said Disney definitely over sold it and weren’t too happy.

Last time I went was around 15 years ago and I don’t remember it being that crowded. It was like a private party.

Does Disney over sell for this event now ?

I’d love to go again in October but don’t want to pay around $100 a ticket and have to wait in line an hour to two for a ride or character.

It’s a beast of a thread, but the answers to many of your questions can be found here: "Official" 2017 Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party - Boo to You!

We were there August 25th (the first party) in 2017 and we were at the first party in 2016. We did find it to be more crowded last year than in 2016. But I've never, ever, seen a 30 minute line for candy, and we tend to do the candy lines early when it is more crowded. Lines can seem longish but they are always moving. We maybe had a wait of five minutes tops in candy lines.

Popular and rare characters like Jack and Sally always have long waits regardless of crowd levels. If you don't like long waits, avoid most character meets. Most ride lines are relatively short throughout the evening.

On a three night stay, you are almost sure to have at least one night with fireworks. During the day, I would visit MK on party days, since the crowd levels are considerably lower on those days. For the fireworks, just hop to MK in the evening, after spending all day in another park. And with little kids, I wouldn't recommend fighting the mobs in the hub. Try watching the fireworks from the entrance to the park, or inside Fantasyland (you will miss the projections on the castle, however).

We did not do any character meets, but the ride lines were not an issue. We were there 8/29 from 3:45ish to close. We did have 3 fast passes for haunted mansion, pirates, and space mountain. We were able to do 7DMT twice, towards the end of the evening, saw Hocus Pocus, the parade....We go fairly often so we usually won't even get in a line that is more than 45 minutes, the longest we waited that night was 30 minutes. If something has a long line, we move on and come back to it. Space only had a 15 minute wait one of the times we went on it, there were people in the que just playing the games and not trying to ride the ride. I have heard that the October parties are busier, we just lucked out that they had parties while we were there.

People think (but no one can prove) that Disney increased capacity when the capacity of the hub increased. Avoid the first party, late October parties, and weekend parties and you have a higher chance of it not selling out.

If going to a party isn’t a must do and you want lower crowds, just wait until the afternoon of the party day to buy tickets-if there are any left. If there aren’t, then you didn’t committ to a sold out party.

Candy lines are always long first thing, but after the fireworks it’s quick. Less popular characters will have shorter waits after fireworks as well. The thread someone linked is a good resource.

Our son was 5 the first time we went, and our daughter was 15 months. They both had a ball! My daughter was sitting on my DH's shoulders watching the parade, slapping his ears to the beat of the "boo to you" music and laughing her head off. One of our best moments.
We just made sure we all had a good nap before we headed over to the park and everyone was fine.
