Mickeys not so scary halloween party

Hello All-
We are driving to Disney from Ohio and plan on taking 2 days to do it. We will be getting there on October 5. There is a Halloween party that night and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to do that night OR should we do it for a night later in the week. I was wondering if it would be less crowded.

Next, my kids will be almost 1, almost, 5, 7 and 9 by the time we leave for the trip. Do you think they would enjoy going to this event?
Are all the rides open during the event?
Do we have to buy the tickets early?
Does it sell out?
Do we bring trick or treat bags?
Do the kids dress up?
Are there any rules about the outfits? Or do you have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, I am sure I will have more questions soon

If I could help it I would try to do the party later during the week. The party is a late night and they start letting you in at 4:00pm. For my family I'm sure we'd rather not have to be anywhere particular in order to have the time to rest up, relax and enjoy our resort the first day.

The majority of the rides are open during the event usually with short lines because most people are busy doing party activities.

You don't have to buy the tickets early if you don't want to, the party tickets are non refundable so you may want to wait to be sure that it won't be bad weather.

Some days do sell out, but usually not until closer to the party date.

You can bring bags if you want. They also hand out bags when you arrive.

The kids do dress up. The adults too. I'm not sure about rules but I'm sure things that are offensive, ect aren't allowed.

Here's a nice overview from last years party.

Only a few places are open, not everything. :goodvibes

I guess I need to clarify... We arrived at MK around 4:30pm and ate early (about 5:30 ish). At that particular time, everything was open. As it gets later in the evening, a few of the places will close.

Going 9/1 as well !!! DW and DD are thrilled---!

All my daughter is talking about is being able to get the Halloween
"Sorcerers Of The Magic Kingdom" cards the 1st party date !

:cutie:

do they have cast members taking pictures throughout the parks with the characters?

Yes, most characters will have a photographer. For those who may not, the CM handler can take a photo for you with your camera.

Were going 9/26 as "Once Upon a Time". We are working on our outfits as we speak......who knew Rumple be so hard lol.

So used the Disney chat thing on their site to try and found out if my costume would be acceptable at the party....Got the most mixed answer ever! I got well we try to stay with the Not So Scary theme first. Then the person I chatted with said they do have characters dressed undead....well that helped so much LOL. I dont think zombies are that scary anymore and they are pretty mainstream. Thoughts?

These are the rules they put in the letter they send out:

FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD AND OTHERS, PLEASE ADHERE TO THE GUIDELINES BELOW.

Halloween costumes should NOT:
Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches).
Drag on the ground.
Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally stike another guest.
Be offensive to other guests.
Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

For a zombie, I would say that if you don't go bloody with gaping wounds you won't be challenged.

If your zombie is along the lines of a Haunted Mansion level of scary, you should be good. Anything beyond that, probably not worth risking it.

Thanks :) I was thinking only a little blood more dirty/torn in the costume. I picked up my snow costume on ebay and it was damaged so I was trying to figure out a good use for it

I don't think they would be a problem unless you start ramming people. :duck:

They are some pointy hard plastic though!
Just to clarify, this would be for my daughter and not for me. I think I'd look kind of funny dressed as Maleficent!
(I'm a 40 year-old somewhat paunchy dude).

Have a question. Sorry if it's not the right place to post.

I have tickets for 9/9 and even though I had to attach our tickets to our magic bands, it still said to print out a paper ticket. Which one do I have to use to get into the Halloween party? Also, can I really enter at 4pm? Thanks! :thumbsup2

Yes, you can enter at 4pm. You should go ahead and print the ticket just to be on the safe side. This is the first year the bands have been in full operation for party season, so it will be good to have a backup.

Be sure to sign up in my guest list thread...

I can't seem to find a FAQ thread for MNSSHP, so my apologies for asking this here (seemingly the wring thread). I've never been to a MNSSHP and we are planning to go next year. I know we may enter at 4 PM (at least it's possible to do so in 2014) but when does the party actually start? Would it be feasible to have dinner at 'Ohana then head to the party? Could we wear our costumes to a restaurant outside of the party to save travel time? How hard are is it to get an ADR during the party? Thanks in advance for the help, even if it's just directing me to the proper thread!
