So I am trying to plan a big family trip to WDW at the end of September through the beginning of October. Anyway, I saw something about the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party that happens about the time we will be there. Has anyone gone to this? Is it worth it? How much are/were the tickets? Do they close the park down early for this event? My kids will be 3.5 and 2 when we go down there and don't know if it's even worth looking at as they are so young, but thought I would get some idea about what it's about. Any feedback would be appreciated. Don't know if this is up somewhere else or if this is the right place to post but I am new to the boards so forgive me.

We went last year in mid Sept and absolutely loved it. It was my DD5, myself and my mother. My mother explains it as the way every child imagines Halloween should be. The decorations are wonderful (these are up all day during the holiday) the parade was great, and the villan party in front of the castle was good.

I believe they allow people who have the ticket in around 4:00 but the "party" does not begin until 7:00, when those who do not have the ticket are asked to leave. You need to get a wristband to stay in the park past 7:00. Trick or Treating was a lot of fun, we got a ton of candy. We also rode rides during this time, but there are just a select few open.

I believe prices were a little over $50 per ticket and needed to be purchased in May when tickets go on sale (we used DU agent so they did this for us).

I would do this again in the future. Any questions just ask.

I also wanted to add that we did need to take a nap during the day before this event. My DD fell asleep in the stroller on the way back. It may be a late night for the ages of your children. But you are the one who knows them best. I don't have my brochure available but someone may and will be able to give you times of the parades.

We went to our first Halloween party this year in October and loved it. We're definitely planning it again this year.

There's trick or treating which I found to be sort of a waste of time. Standing in line for generic candy seemed weird when there was all of Magic Kingdom to explore. My kids loved getting their faces painted for free - talked me into paying $15 each the next day at AK because mean Mommy made them wash. It was great to get on all of the rides with little to no wait. There's extra characters around (mostly have to wait in line for them) in Halloween costumes. Also, there's a special show in front of the castle. Personally, I think the MNNSHP parade and fireworks are worth the extra admission alone...that's what sold DH. He'd have bought tickets for the next night if I had let him..and he's cheap usually!!

Thanks for the info. I have another question, do you have to also have an admission pass to Magic Kingdom along with the ticket for MNNSSHP? Meaning if we just buy tickets to the party do we also have to buy admission tickets or is it included?

We were so excited to goto mnsshp. My kids helped with costumes and we watched you tube videos of the event. But once we got the party my 4yr old was terrified. He was afraid of everything and we had to leave early. he said the music was scary, the people in costumes scared him and the fireworks and dark. I don't know at home he watched the 4th of july fireworks and was not afraid. but I think the music was the scariest part for him.

Thanks wifey1220! I was worried about that too. My niece will be with us also and we're most worried about her.

Right now I do not think we'll probably go just because our kids will be so young and it sounds like most stuff happens later in the day. I don't want to spend extra money only to have to leave early because the kids are cranky or scared, even though we do plan to take afternoon naps. I thought the trick or treating would be cool since my oldest son loved going for the first time last year but if it's long lines then I'll wait until they are older to do it.

Thanks everyone!!

We absolutely love the party. Much better than the Xmas party, IMHO.
We took the grandkids last year; they were 12 months and 3.5 at the time, and we had a wonderful evening. We went around 5 pm after a lazy day at the Poly pool, and were among the last to leave the park. The baby is an early-to-bed little guy and DGD also has a pretty strict bedtime, so we planned on just spending a few hours but they both did great so we stayed for the whole thing; they were just amazed at everything they saw and did. DGS fell asleep about 9 and slept through the fireworks but then woke up and joined the fun again; they trick or treated, we rode walk-on rides, they danced at the Monster Mash; the only things we missed were the pic with Cinderella's Coach and the face painting. The parade is absolutely the best WDW has to offer!

Thanks cdrn1! Now I wonder if we should go....I know my boys could handle the time more than my niece as they tend to sleep late and wake up late but trying to convince the rest of the family and my DH of the extra cost would be the biggest problem. Sounds like the parade is awesome though.

I guess I'm the odd one out then because I didn't think it was worth the money. We were comped tickets because of some issues at the hotel. We went the Fri. after Labor Day and it was pretty quiet, no huge crowds like later in the season. The longest lines were for autographs, and a couple of the fantasyland rides had longish lines early in the evening. We loved the fireworks and the castle show and parade were neat, but we didn't feel like it was worth the $50+ per ticket. Trick or treat was generic candy, nothing great, no full size bars and they were rationing it out. The younger kids also liked the free face painting. If it had been a busy time of year it might have been worth it for the shorter lines, but in early Sept. the parks are mostly empty.

Your MSSSHP ticket is your admission to party and park. We stayed at the resort that day and swam and took it easy. We went about 9 years ago when our kids were 11 and 4! We LOVED it! Our kids still talk about it being their favorite time at Disney--we have been blessed to go everyother year or so with our kids. We still have a picture taken by Disney CM from that night hanging on our frig.

We went the weekend of Halloween--DS was Buzz Lightyear and DD was a princess! Lots of candy, lots of interaction with characters and easy accessibility to them-autograph books were full!, walked on the rides and did multiple times in a row. Some fun music and dancing by the Buzz Lightyear ride(The macarena was big then-LOL!), awesome parade & fireworks.

The kids were tired and slept late the next morning!!! Priceless!

My boyfriend, myself, and his mother went to the Halloween Party in september. It was fabulous! We all went in costume; I was Alice, Boyfriend was MadHatter, and his mom was the Queen of Hearts. We got to meet a ton of rare characters, there was no wait on any of the rides, the parade was marvelous, and the villains were awesome!!

The park closes to the public at seven and only people who have purchased tickets, who then recieved an arm band, are allowed to stay in. Magic Kingdom was been transformed with spooky decorations and ghoulish reminders! We got lots and lots of Ghiridelli chocolate, as well was as some other generic Halloween treats. $50 in general per ticket, cheaper if you buy them sooner rather than later.

I'm pretty sure, however, that you have to have a ticket to the park AS WELL AS a ticket to the party; the latter does not suffice as your ticket to the theme park.

Honestly, I think this party was totally worth it. A headless horseman even rode down Mainstreet! Dressing up was awesome, we got tons of compliments from the characters, and loads of interaction with them because of the low crowd. I defiently suggest it!

What time does to park stay open till on these nights?

Im going in September... do you where to find which nights the party is on and how/where/when to buy the tickets?

I'm pretty sure, however, that you have to have a ticket to the park AS WELL AS a ticket to the party; the latter does not suffice as your ticket to the theme park.

Incorrect; the party ticket is all you need. It includes park admission. The party officially starts at 7pm and lasts until midnight but you can actually go in the gates at 4pm.

This party would be nice and interesting :) We haven't try any Halloween party at WDW because our trips happened Christmas or january. We have a plan this year, maybe I'll be thinking for that. :lmao:

I don't think the dates have been posted yet or at least I haven't been able to find them. We are going in end of Oct and I can't wait to get our tickets for the party.

ETA: I have read the tickets usually go on sale beginning of May sometime. I belive you can purchase them over the phone (that's how we purchased our MVMCP tickets) not sure if you can buy them online. They have discounts for buying them ahead of time.

5 yrs and running on halloween night and love it. Tickets go on sale May 1st. I have a 2 1/2 yr old, we had relaxing day at hotel and had poohs character dinner at 530 at crystal palace and out to party at 7. Lots of costumes and trick or treating and more candy (premium candy, snickers, reeses, m&m's). All characters dressed in costumes, she loved dance party and had a breakdown with fireworks but did get some good photos and great expierence.

Im so glad I found this post.. Me and DH will be at WDW at the beginning of September as we are doing a cruise at the end of August out of Port Canaveral, so I talked him into going to WDW for a week as I have been wanting to go to MNSSHP so bad for the last few years.. I cant wait to hear more about it!

Last year we were at WDW when the decorations were up at the end of Aug/first of September but if I remember correctly the first party night was the day we were leaving.. Had I known I would have done it where we arrived 2 days later so we could have been there for a few more days and we would have been able to do the party, so I was definitely kicking myself over this!

From what Ive read they dont announce anything until May.. I know from past experience there is usually a sticky thread at the top of the theme park board when info is announced.. so Im keeping an eye out..

I cant believe Im this excited over going :)
