I am heading to WDW at the end of September for a solo trip and plan on attending MNSSHP for the first time and have some questions.

1. Is the party less crowded during the week (say on a Tuesday or Thursday) than it is on a Friday night?

2. Is it better to get a ticket on May 1st or can I wait a little while to purchase?

3. Are there alot of characters available for meet & greets? Where are most of the characters stationed?

4. Should I plan to book an early ADR inside the park on the day of a party?

5. Is this party worth doing twice in one trip?

6. Where is the best place to view the parade & fireworks?

7. Are there alot of rare characters out for meet & greet?

8. Is it worth trick or treating if you are a solo adult?

looking forward to seeing the respnses to this as we are going for our first MNSSHP this sept!

1) I went on Tuesday last year and Fantasyland was crowded, but the rest of the park was pretty slow.

2) If you plan on going 10/31 or near that week I would call at 7:00 A.M. May 1. If you're going at an earlier date say in September you can wait.

3) There are alot of characters out but which one and where they are stationed at I'm not sure, I don't have kids so I didn't pay much attention.

4) I would. Unless you are at the resort and taking a rest before the party then I would either eat at the resort or dinner at the MK. If you get hungry later you can always grab a dog from Casey's or burger at Cosmic Ray's.

5) The party is great but I would only do it once a trip.

6) everyone says Main Street, I sit in front of the RR for the parade and fireworks are great anywhere. It's less crowded in front of the RR.

7) Don't know didn't pay that much attention to characters.

8) They give out tons of candy especially at the end of the night if they have lots left over.

Hope this helps.

I'll do my best for ya! :)
I am heading to WDW at the end of September for a solo trip and plan on attending MNSSHP for the first time and have some questions.

1. Is the party less crowded during the week (say on a Tuesday or Thursday) than it is on a Friday night? Definetly I think week nights are better. We did it on a Thurs 2 yrs back. Locals often will go on the weekend nights

2. Is it better to get a ticket on May 1st or can I wait a little while to purchase?Depends on what party you want to go to. The closer to 10/31 you are planning to go, the busier it will be and higher demand on the tickets. If not the last week of OCT or a weekend night, you can wait to decide for sure that you want to go. Tickets are non-transferable or refundable - so be sure. Disney HAS refunded mine. Last OCT the flu infested our house. We live less then 2 hrs away and were going to go over one Friday night. Well - the kids had been sick and I bought early and was so worried. Then... 2 days before we were to go I had 104.5 fever. I called WDW crying. Wanted to at least be able to give them to a friend. WDW refunded as did the hotel. :) BUT this was extinuating circumstances.

3. Are there alot of characters available for meet & greets? Where are most of the characters stationed? They are all over the place. the main DIS site has a map that shows where most things are. Its fun to see them in their Halloween costumes

4. Should I plan to book an early ADR inside the park on the day of a party? You can enter the part at 4pm for the party without using a day on your park tickets. I'm a big kid - I don't like to miss the action, so I always do counter service. But its not a bad idea. if you can get early at Plaza or Crystal Palace.. that'd be nice.

5. Is this party worth doing twice in one trip?Looks like you are adults... I'd say no. Sorry folks but it is fun and exciting but for the extra cost, once per trip .. its the same party twice.

6. Where is the best place to view the parade & fireworks?IMHO... You want to watch the parade from the hub. Right in front of the popcorn cart as you face the castle its on your right. This view you can see them coming at you and going past you with the backdrop of the castle. Gosh its an AMAZING parade. AND the same spot for fireworks too. Great view!

7. Are there alot of rare characters out for meet & greet?I dont recall... I'm sure there were.

8. Is it worth trick or treating if you are a solo adult?
Of course! You can always take it home and pass out to the neighborhood kids or make a kids day at the resort, or eat it yourself. YUM

If you are haveing doubts on to go or not to go, trust me it's worth the money go. You'll have a blast, I don't have kids but me and DH went and we're looking forward to going next year. :cool1:

I definitely am going, but I am trying to decide if it's worth going twice in one trip.

1. Is the party less crowded during the week (say on a Tuesday or Thursday) than it is on a Friday night? YES! It is much LESS crowded on a tuesday than a friday. i made three trips to the MNSSHP during my trip last october and found it to be much much less crowded on tuesday!

2. Is it better to get a ticket on May 1st or can I wait a little while to purchase? depending on what dates you are interested in, you can most definitely wait. unless you are planning on going during the week of halloween, it is quite easy to get tickets.

3. Are there alot of characters available for meet & greets? Where are most of the characters stationed?YES, there is a villian mix n mingle held right by the castle .. the normal characters are Jafar, queen of hearts, malificent, evil queen from snow white, smee, captain hook, & cruella de vil.

4. Should I plan to book an early ADR inside the park on the day of a party? i didnt. i guess its up to you. i chose to eat at my hotel before i went to the party.

5. Is this party worth doing twice in one trip? YES! during one of the times i went, i rode all of the rides (as the lines are pretty much nonexistant! the next time, i rode a few rides, got my pics taken with the characters and watched the fireworks and parade. and my last time i just enjoyed the atmosphere and just did whatever i felt like!

6. Where is the best place to view the parade & fireworks?by the castle! for the fireworks for sure. and i just stood on main st. for the parade... all locations are pretty amazing.. dont miss the headless horsemen at the beginning of the parade!

7. Are there alot of rare characters out for meet & greet?YES! it is rare to see many of the characters i mentioned at the villians mix n mingle!

8. Is it worth trick or treating if you are a solo adult? not really.. the time is better spent riding or enjoying the parades/fireworks.

My sister and I went in Oct together to do MNSSHP and food and wine. (just the two of us)

The party is fun, definetly wait to see the second parade, and the late stage show for smaller crowds.....I guess the flip side would be to do the earlier ones so that you can have smaller cowds for doing rides???? But if you do a party more than once I guess you could get the best on both sides.

There were tons of characters out all over the park.
We didn't make it a goal to do the trick or treating, but came away with LOADS of candy
This bag must have weighed at least 10 pounds!!!! (this was our candy combined)

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves will be out, and I hear it is the only place you can see the dwarves. We didn't realize that at the time and didn't make the time to see them. :guilty:

I will not be making a adr to have dinner at a TS on the night of the party- The ticket is costly so I dont want to "waste" minutes dining and rushing through a meal to "hurry" to a party.

I also want to wait til we arrive to buy a ticket for a Tuesday- Last year it seemed to rain a lot and I dont want to buy a ticket ahead of time if my night will be wet.
This is for a Sept MNSSHP.

I am heading to WDW at the end of September for a solo trip and plan on attending MNSSHP for the first time and have some questions.

1. Is the party less crowded during the week (say on a Tuesday or Thursday) than it is on a Friday night?I would think they would be less crowded during the week, esp. in Sept. I went the day before Halloween last year and it was a little hairy in some places.

2. Is it better to get a ticket on May 1st or can I wait a little while to purchase? As most other posters have said, if you're going in early Sept. you can probably wait. If you're going the last week in Oct. you need to get them first thing.

3. Are there alot of characters available for meet & greets? Where are most of the characters stationed? The characters are stationed all over the park. I remember Alice and friends were on the little used path between Toon Town and Tomorrowland last year signing autographs and handing out candy. When you arrive they give you a special map for the night with all the character meet and greets for the night, and the characters are out at those locations pretty much all night.

4. Should I plan to book an early ADR inside the park on the day of a party?I did the day we went. However the party and my special birthday lunch with Pooh just happened to coincide on the same day. We ended up getting counter service during the party, anyway.

5. Is this party worth doing twice in one trip?I would say no personally. If you get to do EMH, then you get the short line experience outside of the party. As long as you make and effort to hit all the meet and greets and candy locations, you won't need to do it twice. The parade and fireworks are fantastic, but you see them once, you probably don't need to pay another $50 to see them again.

6. Where is the best place to view the parade & fireworks?I watched the parade from Main St. I got there early and was right on the curb, so I got a great view. The fireworks we watched from the typicially recommended spot, on the bridge to Tomorrowland and they were great.

7. Are there alot of rare characters out for meet & greet? There are actually quite a few that usually don't do meet and greet.

8. Is it worth trick or treating if you are a solo adult?I didn't trick or treat as an adult, but I was there on the night before Halloween so the candy lines were mobbed with long lines, however being there on a weeknight in Sept. the lines should be fine so I recommend it. You're at Disney to be a kid again. What's more kid again than trick or treating?

Wow, Terk-1, you practically took the words right out of my mouth!:rotfl2:

I did have a couple more to ask tho!

1. Is it possible to do EVERYTHING in the time allotted? I only plan on doing this once probably for years and years and I want to get it all! We are going on Sept 15th which is a Tuesday nite. The only thing I really don't need to do is the dance parties, but everything else I have to do. I may only need to ride PoTC and HM. But I even want to do the face painting and ToTing! Yes, I'm 34. Why do you ask?;)

2. What are people planning on wearing this year?

2. Is it better to get a ticket on May 1st or can I wait a little while to purchase?

You've gotten some great answers, tips, and advice so far.

Just wanted to say, no matter what night you plan on going, even Halloween Night, which always sells out, you do NOT have to call on May 1 to secure tickets.

Last year no parties sold out until September 1....that is the day Halloween night sold out.

Of course, if you are excited and a planner like me, you'll want to get in on the fun and buy them ASAP. It makes the trip seem more real. :thumbsup2

Halloween is on a Saturday night this year. I bet it is going to sell out quickly.

Wow! This is an exciting thread! I am going in September, and I am excited to see all that candy (most of which I don't know, which makes it even more exciting!)

Is there much Hershey's chocolate? Cause I hate the stuff, you can't even give it away in the UK!

Why do you ask? Wow that's an ambitious goal. I think you could pull it off on a Tuesday night in Sept., esp. if all you want to ride is POTC and HM, you could probably skip the first run of the parade and get most of Tomorrowland and Fantasyland done while everyone else is watching. Then watch the second parade and fireworks.

2. What are people planning on wearing this year? I went as Little Red Riding Hood and my dad was the Woodsman. While I was filming the parade the Big Bad Wolf actually snuck up next to me, since I was watching through the view finder, and scared the heck out of me. It was pretty cool.

I love MNSSHP, we plan on doing it again in September.

I hope they lower the ticket costs. I cannot believe how expensive it is.. and last year they priced the Friday dates higher than during the week. and you could not get a discount even with advance purchase.

Im going no matter what. and Ill be there the first week of sept they only have a party on Friday night that particular week.

I guess we'll find out the price on May 1st.

Im sure you will have a great time! My fav thing about the party is I get to see a bunch of villians!!! especially The Evil Queen from Snow White!

but there are millions of reasons why its so worth it!!!

I LOVE your bag. Did you make it? I'd love to do these for my kids this year (hoping to make MNSSHP one Fri in Oct.. was missed last year b/c of flu infestation).

LOVE the bag!!

Thanks!!
I bought bags and ribbon at Hobby Lobby, and got the picture from one of the awesome people on the DISigns board. (We made really cute tshirts for the party as well as long sleeved shirts for night)
