I'm not sure if I'm going this year due to my school schedule, but I'm thinking about either Pocahontas or Charlotte from Princess and the Frog :)

The first year I went to MNSSHP was actually on Halloween in '08 and it was the day I got married, so I really wanted to wear my wedding dress to the park. Or I did until I sat down in it during the reception and realized the beading didn't want me to breath, soooooo nevermind.

So when my DH and I go this year (at the beginning of October) I'm determined to dress up! Right now I'm going between something Haunted Mansion themed or the Red Queen, though I do have a backup costume in case absolutely nothing works out. Waldo. :rotfl: And I will force my DH to find a place to look down and take a picture of me standing in a crowd.

I was searching through the forums trying to find some pictures/ideas for maternity costumes as I will be 7 months pregnant at MHP at Disneyland this year and came across this thread. I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures so I thought I would post one of DD and DS at the hotel getting ready for last year's party. DD was Jack Skellington and DS was Barrel.

Those are great costumes! We're planning on Nightmare Before Christmas costumes this year, so these were a great inspiration...thanks! :thumbsup2

Here is our family in 2008,our first MNSSHP,and we had a blast. My mom and I sewed the costumes, but no coordinating theme, and it was HOT. We're from Cleveland, OH, so we're used to it being cold for Halloween.

We are also going this year and I think we're going to do a Princess and the Frog Theme... dd5 will be Tiana, dd4 wants to be Ray the firefly, DH will be Louie the Croc (trumpet and all), and I think I'm going to be Mama Odie or the Shadow Man (however, there's nothing skinny about me)

Bump, Bump, Bump!!! It's that time of year again to start posting pictures of your (or other peoples :goodvibes) Costume's from years past!!

Currently planning on two MNSSHP days (maybe). I will be making both of my costumes. 1st will be Captain America. The second will be Captain Marvel (Shazam) from DC Comics. Making these were such an adventure, both good and bad LOL

Hi everyone, I'm new here and only recently started reading DISboards. (I'm getting geared up for our trip in October!) First of all, all of the pictures you've posted are so great, and secondly I have to comment on all the members here for being REALLY informative and helpful to other members! Which leads me to my reason for posting:

Obviously, I picked October because I love Disney Halloween "stuff" but have never been during Halloween or any other holiday season. I know that MNSSHP requires a ticket, but is it in an actual location of the park, "roped" off from other park visitors or only people with a ticket are allowed to stay in the park after a designated time? If you don't have a ticket, do you not get to see the parade with the Headless Horseman? Do you actually trick-or-treat? Who hands out candy? Also, what's the typical protocal for dressing up? :confused3 It seems like everyone should be Disney-themed but I have a feeling I may not be able to get my husband in a costume, I may have a better chance to do a generic costume. I'm sure I'll have more questions, but for now, thanks in advance!!!

First off - :welcome:

1 - Only people who have purchased a ticket for MNSSHP and have gotten a wristband are allowed to stay in the park after 7pm (the party's start time.) All other guests without wristbands will be ushered out of the park.

2 - No. Only ticketed guests can stay to watch. If they don't see one of the MNSSHP wristbands on a guest, they will be asked to leave.

3- Yes.

4- There are Cast Members all over the Magic Kingdom handing out candy. There are designated "Trick or Treat" areas where you can go to get candy.

5 - There really is no protocol when it comes to Disney or not. I've seen people dressed as Disney characters, Wizards, Ugly Betty, football players, etc- there is no rule that says it has to be a Disney costume.

These are the only rules given by Disney:

Halloween Costumes Should NOT:
* Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches).
* Drag on the ground.
* Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally stike another guest.
* Be offensive to other guests.
* Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

Thanks Bella! I'm assuming that all of the rides stay open during the Party? On the nights that MNSSHP isn't going on, is the parade the normal one or do they have a Halloween Parade?

Also, does anyone know how quickly the the Haunted Carriage Rides at Fort Wilderness fill up? Anyone not able to purchase a ticket: how far out were you booking when they were already full?

Here is my thought. . .tell me what you think. . .

I'm going as Dr. Temperance Brennan from the TV show BONES. I will wear business casual clothing with a badge like the character has. Possibly wear rubber gloves and carry around a skull if I can find one.

I'm afraid it isn't enough. Guess I'll keep thinking. What do you think?

Those costumes are swwwwwweeeeeetttt! There are pirates and princesses, witches and Peter Pans, and Disney and non-Disney.

Well, here's one that is unique, and that was taken last Tuesday:

That's right - this is the 1990's grunge look! It's nothing more than a pair of jeans (I should have ripped them for authenticity, but I want them to be re-wearable as well as modest enough for Disney.), a plaid flannel shirt, A Disney shirt, my Lion King hat worn backwards, and sneakers.

Oh, and I went with Muetti, but she wore only an orange top and jean shorts, for a modest, yet Halloweeny look.

Here's our photo with Cinderella's coach:
