Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party - August 16th - Seriously?

I am currently planning our August vacation. Our last park day will be Friday, 8/16. I was very excited about ending the trip at the Magic Kingdom (the couple times we've been lucky enough to take a Disney vacation we have made the Magic Kingdom our first park and last park of the trip) with Happily Ever After (our first time seeing this show). I just discovered though that the first MNSSHP will be taking place on 8/16, closing the park early that day. Does anyone else think it is a little crazy to have a Halloween party in mid-August?

You're a bit late to the game because the earlier start actually started last year.
First one was 8/17 so it makes sense for this year to be 8/16.
I expect it will be 8/15 next year and then maybe they will have it a few days later the year following.
I don't know if its "crazy". I think its a bit excessive and they should probably make it at least late August again.
People like these special events though (myself included) so if they are going on a summer vacation and are able to enjoy the Halloween party its a bonus.
