Mickey's Halloween Party Question

Hiya! We are planning our anniversary trip & I just found out that the Mickey's Halloween Party is on while we are there! I really want to go, but my DH isn't so sure since we don't have kids. I called the hotline & was told that it's for all ages, but DH still isn't sure. The other thing is that the day of our anniversary we have a 5:10pm reservation at Blue Bayou but the CM told me the park will be closed at 7pm that day if you don't have Halloween party tickets. Is that enough time at Blue Bayou? TIA.

I would definitely go if I were you guys! It's so much fun for kids and adults!! Adults can go trick-or-treating too and can meet with the characters! :cool1:

That will be more than enough time at BB, and at 7 they'll walk you out of the park if you don't have MHP tickets. We're in the minority here, but my partner and I (early/mid-40s) really didn't like MHP last year. We were there during CHOC weekend so it was admittedly very crowded. But what we didn't like was the vibe. The costumed guests were great, but there were also rowdy/rude costumed teens carrying on that brought the event down for us, too. The candy lines weren't really magical either. You just stand in a 5-10 minute line with everyone and their kids to walk quickly by an overworked CM who throws a handful of candy in your MHP trick-or-treat bag. It was ok and we got a lot of candy. But it wasn't anything we're yearning to do a second time, either.

(Although for fullest disclosure, we may end up back at DLR on an MHP night in September. But that's just because we have those days off.)

What kind of rowdy stuff were they doing? :confused3 I've never seen that at MHP when we have gone.

My husband did not understand my love for Disneyland before I took him. He had never been. (I had been several times before.) He knew we would have fun, but he he thought we would be going to just an amusement park. Our first trip together was for our 1st anniversary, in 2011. Our first day in the park, and his first time at Disneyland was during a Halloween Party. We do not have children. We did not dress up (although I had a Halloween themed Disney shirt on.). He had so much fun. We did the trick-or-treating, and rode a lot of rides. We posed for pics with villains. We watched the parade. The fireworks. At no time did we feel too old or out of place. It's so fun to see all the costumes. We saw an AMAZING ghost family. Simply amazing (I am sure there are pics floating around)

My husband gets it now...he's even commented it would be a place he would like to work. He loves the total immersion and the magic that is created. I credit that party to igniting his new-found love for Disneyland.

Do you have a link to the thread or can you tell me where to find it?

Thank you to figment_jii and to Bob, for referring kaills483 to the Superthread!:goodvibes

Here is the link to the Halloween Time at DLR Superthread.

This post has important Dates/Days/Events to Remember in September/October.

This post has Frequently Asked Questions about Mickey's Halloween Party -- including about people in and out of costumes, tickets selling out, etc.

This post will tell you about the Halloween Time activities in Disneyland.

This post tells you about the Halloween Time fun in California Adventure (what little there is of it).

This post -- my favorite -- covers all of the Ghoulish Grub available during Halloween Time, and all of the blogs have photos of those items.

This post is a fairly thorough list of all of the Fall/Halloween foods and drinks available, including a couple of Mickey's Halloween Party exclusives.

And this post covers other Halloween-ish things to do in SoCal if you have time away from Disneyland and still want a bit of spooky fun.

I hope that helps! Please join us in the Superthread at any time. We're always discussing what's happening (or not happening) with the season, and people have been posting some fun photos as well.

I love these stories. Thanks for posting! So many people "just don't get it'. My Aunt is the same way, as she makes fun of my wife and I for having AP's. Somehow she thinks going camping is more fun. Yes I like camping, but nothing can compare to the escapes to our Happy Place.

Enjoy the Halloween Party...

Thanks Sherry! I will have read up on all of those once ism off work. We just got our Halloween tickets last night!!!!!

I'm pretty sure the only way camping would be more fun is I you got to go camping inside the DL Park. That would be amazing!!!!!

IMO, MNSSHP is the best! Fun decorations, a special parade, special fireworks show, trick-or-treating, villians, a dance party and my favorite: a limited number of tickets are sold so after the regular day-pass guests must leave, the crowds are at a level that ranges from "good" to "not too bad" (that's my opinion...I have heard other people whine about it, though. Attitude check.)

Regarding the age thing, I just turned 41 and this will be my fourth year in a row at the party...also, except for 2012, when I went with family (adults) I go by myself and I dress up every time!!! (I go by myself because I occasionally travel to the area for work so I take advantage of the evening party to have some fun on my off-time...it's not like I have no friends! ;) )

So you folks will not be out of place or have people looking at you sideways if you show up without kids. Plus there are a ton of other adults in costume too, so don't worry about fitting in. I estimate about half the guests dress up and half don't.
