Hiya! We are planning our anniversary trip & I just found out that the Mickey's Halloween Party is on while we are there! I really want to go, but my DH isn't so sure since we don't have kids. I called the hotline & was told that it's for all ages, but DH still isn't sure. The other thing is that the day of our anniversary we have a 5:10pm reservation at Blue Bayou but the CM told me the park will be closed at 7pm that day if you don't have Halloween party tickets. Is that enough time at Blue Bayou? TIA.

I go to MHP and I'm 42. I also go in costume too. It's alot of fun!!! You should have enough time for Blue Bayou. If you have your ticket to party you should be fine.

I very much agree with Kilala!

We attend the Halloween Party every year, and we are two adults! We do not dress up, usually only wear Halloween colors, or Halloween/Disney type shirt.

The Parties are definitely for ALL ages---lots of adults, and I don't think you would feel out of place at all,(whether you dress up or not)!

You would have plenty of time to eat at Blue Bayou, with a 5:10pm reservation, and the Party not beginning until 7:00pm!

If you have any interest in the Party at all, you ought to give it a try---we look forward to it each year---so much fun!:thumbsup2

Totally agree with the other posters. The Halloween party will make your anniversary that much more special. My DH and I go every year, and we're in our fifties.

We also just wear Halloween colors, so we can be in the park during the day and then be ready to check in for the party. (They don't allow you to enter the park in actual costumes until 3 pm.) We have a dinner around 5:00, and then we're ready to go when the party starts.

My guess is you'll be sad if you have to clear out of the park when you see all the excited people entering in costume. The park just takes on a really fun vibe. The fireworks are great; you can get on all the rides really easily while the kids are busy trick-or-treating, and the people-watching is a blast.

If you're spending the night and want to dress up, you can change into a costume at your hotel. All fun -- all good!!!!

:)

Another one who agrees with the previous posts - go! You'll definitely enjoy it, even if you don't have kids. You might enjoy it more because you don't have kids! :rotfl2:

We went last year, taking DS5 at the time, and met up with some friends of ours, who are a child-less couple. They weren't in costume and were having a great time! It's so much fun to see all the costumes and be in the experience. :cool1:

I agree with everyone as well. The party is soooooooo much fun! We never went in costume but had Halloween shirts made for the night. It was better than we expected and just loved the whole night!

BTW, we did have kids with us (2 kids, 4 adults) but I would go without the kids in a heartbeat!

As others have said, I also really enjoy the Halloween Party and I don't have any children in my group. There is plenty to do and it's fun for both children and adults. I've gone several times and there is always a good mixture of adults and children. I've never felt like any looked at me oddly for being there without children. Halloween Screams is among my favorite fireworks show in all of Disney. The Calvacade is cute (not quite a major parade, but still cute). The trick-or-treating is also a lot of fun and everyone is welcome to participate. I don't dress up, but I've seen plenty of adults both in costume and not.

i completely agree with everyone too. especially the comment above! we went to one of the wednesday ones last year and watching everyone head in for the one the friday while we were leaving (and heading to DCA mind you) was still kind of sad

we'll be starting our day as soon as the MHP check in begins at 3pm in costume and ready to go!

we had a group of us last year inc. kids (my niece and nephews) and it was really fun but i'm looking forward to doing it just DH and I this year!

Thanks everyone. I really want to go but DH still isn't sure. I saw part of the fireworks & parade on YouTube & they both look so fun. His hesitation is that some stuff online said the rides have short lines but the special Halloween stuff has long lines. Some people were saying 2 hour lines for character pictures. Did anyone have really long wait times? We just don't want to pay the extra to spend over half the time in lines.

Last year the villains and Mickey & Minnie got pretty long lines for the character stops, but nowhere near two hours. I think someone may be thinking of WDW there. ;)

The longest "photo stop" I was technically in was Phineas and Ferb, and that was because you had to enter the Treat trail in Inventions to get to their photo area. Even that was maybe 20 minutes or so only.

I've read/heard that on sold out party nights last year the waits for characters could be an hour. If you're only going for characters, and absolutely can't tolerate lines, I could see that being a deal breaker.

How did it sells out the last years? We'll be going 10/27 but I really would like to get the AP discount but will not get the AP befor 10/5. :stir::wizard:

I say do it! Its so fun and we see tons of adults participating without kids. They dont seem out of place or weird or anything. Everyone is having fun! I also think your reservation leaves plenty of time. I think worst case scenario, if you stayed past 7 to eat, you would find that when you leave the restaurant that you wont be allowed onto anything or into any thing because you dont have a wristband. I don't know how quickly they remove people for no wristband. But I'm sure you could make it to the exit without any incident!

It's totally for adults! In fact I think because it's dark and late and crowded it might be hard to manage with small children.

There were adults and couples all over last year. Totally not just a kid thing.

I actually went solo a few years ago! It was so much fun. I didn't feel weird at all!

Thanks so much everyone! I'm going to book our tickets next week once the schedule is up for the week we will be there. I'm so excited, now I just have to start making my outfit & convince my DH to wear one too.

Well, you'll probably get a more definitive answer on Sherry's Halloween superthread. But my guess is that, with a date so close to Halloween, it will probably sell out before you get your AP on 10/5. If I were you, I'd just bite the bullet and pay full price for the ticket now.

That will be more than enough time at BB, and at 7 they'll walk you out of the park if you don't have MHP tickets. We're in the minority here, but my partner and I (early/mid-40s) really didn't like MHP last year. We were there during CHOC weekend so it was admittedly very crowded. But what we didn't like was the vibe. The costumed guests were great, but there were also rowdy/rude costumed teens carrying on that brought the event down for us, too. The candy lines weren't really magical either. You just stand in a 5-10 minute line with everyone and their kids to walk quickly by an overworked CM who throws a handful of candy in your MHP trick-or-treat bag. It was ok and we got a lot of candy. But it wasn't anything we're yearning to do a second time, either.

(Although for fullest disclosure, we may end up back at DLR on an MHP night in September. But that's just because we have those days off.)
