So we are all in our 20's and early 30's we are DVC members and are going down to Disney World this Wed through Sunday. Staying at BCV . We bought tickets to Mickey's party on Friday and have reservations and paid for tickets to EPCOT desert party on Saturday. Should we eat the Mickey halloween tickets and go to Universal for Halloween horror nights ? Friday is the opening night! Ugh IDK it's such a dilemma! We have never done a horror night there before .

we haven't ever been to the universal one but we love the disney one if that helps u at all. However if u have done it before, I could see skipping the disney one. The fact that u already bought the tickets though would make me go to disney.

Of course you know the HHN are VERY different from the MNSSHP :)
HHN are really a great fun, I did and liked both but for different reasons, they are so different that it's almost impossible to compare.
However? MNSSHP is 85% the same every year, while most mazes change yearly at the HHN so I think the latter have more replay value.
If you hadn't bought the the ticket already I would have said go for HHN (if you like that kind of event) but I'm not sure it's worth wasting the money.

I know I wished we had not bought the tickets. But we did because we'll we did haha. So I guess we will do the Disney World halloween party. I know it's fun and totally different. Next year I will make sure we do universal. And by then maybe the lines for both Harry Potter attractions will also be some what less ! Thanks for the feed back

Our kids are 16 and 18.. they prefer universal at this point...

but up til 13 is was mickeys.....

Then inbetween years are hard.

You have no idea what you are missing:banana:HHN is by far the best in it's genre! That said i wouldn't toss the MNSSHP tickets.

We enjoy MNSSHP in the Disney portion of our trip, then switch over to the 'dark side' & experience a total mind shift.

What time is the Ep dessert party on Saturday over? :scratchinCould you possibly get yourselves up to Universal afterwards for HHN that night? You don't need a regular park ticket, just the HHN one. If it's crowded (not likely being first weekend) you could purchase the express passes to get you thru all the houses and still have time for the two shows & the rides that are open.

I was there for the opening night last year and it was crowded. Not crazy crowded like a mid october wekend or you-would-never-believe-how-much crowded like 8/31, but I couldn't do all mazes, some had 1 hour+ wait. The idea of the pass is a good one in any case. Next time I'll go I'll get it anyhow.

I have no experience during the opening weekend but regulars have told me it's usually not as crowded as what we find when we tend to visit week prior or after Columbus day weekend. I'm sure the crowds can ebb & wan depending on the weather forecast.

Unless one has FOTL at Universal, most park vets will agree it helps to do some research to devise a plan of attack in order to accomplish all you want to do in a day...go, go commando:scared1:.

we typically are able to get thru all the houses on Thursday the 3rd week in October with well less than a 30 minute wait by careful planning based upon reviews of those who have gone before us:thumbsup2. Even then, it's not uncommon to observe hour + long waits for houses we've already crossed off our list as the evening commences, scary stuff indeed.

we typically enjoy HHN twice (one via a RIP tour:yay:) but even if I were only going for one night, I'd still get a feel for the crowd first before I would consider purchasing the EP but YMMV.
