Mickey's fun wheel

This thread is partially making me more curious to try it! But I'm pretty sure I'll regret it.

The first two times I rode it I thought it was horrid (and I love thrill rides). My dd talked me into riding it with her recently and it was ok. I think knowing what to expect and closing my eyes for most of the ride helped. :-)

Been on the non-swinging carts several times. I LOVED IT!

A few years ago no one in our group of 6, would go on with my son. He loves all rides, spinning, swinging, fast, slow, doesn't really matter, he loves them all! He begged and begged and finally after everyone kept saying no, I said "fine, I'll go!" I was a little unhappy with DH for not going, so I think it was more of me proving a point to him, than really wanting to go. :rotfl: OMG, it was the worst experience of my life! My son laughed his butt off at me and I was terrified! Every time it would start to swing down, I thought I was going to die. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Horrible Wheel of Death! NEVER again! :rotfl:

I can ride almost any thrill ride, but I hate Ferris wheels(I don't get sick or anything, I just always get this trapped in a cage/chair of death feeling).

DW happens to love Ferris wheels, so we tried both the swinging, then the non-swinging. She mustered up the courage to ride a looping coaster(California Screamin') with me(she hates loops) so I went along with it.

Of course, I hated both. She really hated the swinging ones but also felt really uncomfortable in the non-swinging ones.

FYI...The left side doesn't swing as much as the right side if that matters at all. Skip the swinging if anyone is prone to motion sickness.

Skip it all together if you are afraid of heights.

Yep^^^

We were afraid of the swinging ones so decided to go on the stationary ones. They go much HIGHER that the swinging ones!!!! My husband was "white knuckling" it since he was hanging on so tight! It is HIGH. Avoid the stationary ones if you are afraid of heights!

We love it. My two boys (who have been on it 3 year olds, 1 year old and 4 months old) love the swinging carts. If you really dislike heights and swinging motions, but there's nothing particularly sudden or jerky about it we found.

I am terrified of heights.. ferris wheels, bridges, tall balconies, you name it. I also get motion sickness and take medicine for it daily at Disneyland.

Having said that, my daughter talked me into trying the swinging cars on Mickey's Fun Wheel. I LOVED it. Seriously, I am mad that I didn't try it before last year. But I would NEVER ride the stationary ones. Ever. :rotfl:

We love it! Since there are twice as many swinging as non-swinging and the swinging line is always longer, others must enjoy it as well. Unless they are all first-timers... :)

Well, I guess I'm in the distinct minority here, but I didn't find it all that terrifying. Neither did either of my sons.

You really don't ride it that long (actual ride time) for that much motion, in my estimation.

Here's how it goes:

We boarded our swinging car when they were about 1/2 way through the unload/load process. So it was pretty much stop and go until we were at about the 9 o'clock position as they loaded. Then it was one non-stop ride around back to the same position. Then it was stop and go up and around to the bottom for the load/unload process again.

There's only 2 places where the car runs on the track (around the 10 o'clock and 5 o'clock position). And I found it real smooth.

I agree that the stationary cars go higher than the swinging ones, so if heights are the problem, the swinging cars may be the better option.

When my DSD was 9 or 10 I told her I'd go on the wheel of death with her if she went on ToT with me. She loved ToT (as I knew she would LOL), then we went over to the Devil's plaything, got in the cars that move and we both thought we were going to die. When we got off she told me she never wanted to do it again :rotfl2:

She's 16 now and just went last week, she texted me while she was waiting for her friends to go on it and asked if I remembered that time...

I don't like heights but if I'm enclosed or have a bar down on my lap (or have been to a bar...but that's a different story...) I'm usually ok. ToT doesn't bother me when the doors open at the top, for example.

I was a little worried about the Wheel but being in the enclosed car made it do-able for me.

No swinging cars for me tho, that's where I draw the line...

I actually found the stationary cars more nerve-wracking than the swinging ones. I really enjoy the swinging ones but DS didn't care for them and decided he wanted to try the stationary one. Neither one of us is really scared of heights but I found the lack of movement in the stationary one to be unnerving. When the ride is stopped, the swinging cars are still moving so the stationary cars will feel the movement of the wheel.

The feeling of movement doesn't bother me in the swinging cars, since they are supposed to move. But the movement of the whole structure that I could feel in the stationary car (and the sound of the other cars moving)....eek! :rotfl2:

I've only been on it once but it wasn't as bad as I expected. I thought the wheel would go around continuously a few times without stopping, but it seemed like most of the time is spent loading and unloading. The swinging is really light when the cars are stopped, but it can be scary when the wheel is moving at full speed.

Nauseating. :crazy2: My son LOVES it, so we go on if the wait isn't too long. The view is beautiful and it's fun for a thrill, but every single time I feel like I'm going to vomit or the people we get seated with feel like they will. Those barf bags are no joke, people!

I just had the most horrid thought. My child has sensory processing disorder and she regulates herself by spinning in circles. Now she is only 2 1/2, so she can't go on the wheel of death yet I'm sure, but someday she is going to ask because this would be her dream. Ugh!

I've only done it once and didn't find it the least bit scary. I did feel trapped because they loaded/unloaded constanlty. It was long and boring in my experience.
